2024 who’s here??
Me
I love this flipping band.
This is everything music was meant to be about.
This band really did something special with this.
AzCannibalChris Absolutely agree, this album takes me to another level!!!
Yep. Nailed it.
I think otherwise, they used to be about history and very poetic and Avant-garde but they went the drinking route and I find it sad that they went for the hometown type when they had such a good message about life
@@sepianights6707 have you not listened to Palimpsest?
@@DStrick2008 Dude, I can't stop listening to it. So Good. I was convinced that nothing could beat the quality of Kezia for me. Palimpsest is next level.
EASILY my favorite music video.
Adam Margolin me to
The first show I ever watched as a kid was Protest the Hero when they came to Newfoundland during Valentine's day weekend. Ditched my girlfriend and drove 4.5 hours to see them play. First time I ever crowd surfed. It was an unreal experience. They were my favourite band at the time. Fast forward a few years later, my own band opened for them when they came back. One of the highlights of my life, sharing the same stage with these legends. I'll never forget it.
How'd your girlfriend take it?
Personally, if my partner ditched me for Protest the Hero, I'd understand completely. But I _would_ be mad she didn't take me.
@@noesunyoutuber7680 we were pretty new to dating, a couple months and we were like 15 lol. She was really good about it honestly!
Bro! What’s your bands name!?!? I gotta hear you!
This could be a freaking ad for newfoundland coz I wanna pack up and just chill here
Yeah. I'm in the middle of the woods now, watching this and hitting some Purple Kush. it's not bad. :)
except newfys suck ass in the gaming community
they are asshats
+Hingle McCringleberry LOL
lol THE GAMING COMMUNITY
"the gaming community" lmfao
As someone born & raised in Newfoundland, this is such an accurate representation of our little island & the people that live here.
I can’t wait to come!!!! It’s sort of a dream trip for me now
I’m a Newfoundlander and I’m am planning on staying in Newfoundland for my whole life and I read the comments and I seen people that’s in America and they know what Newfoundland is and I was happy to see that people know about the good old rock.
Mainstream music....
Newfoundland has a pretty profound impact on the rest of the world. You guys have the targa newfoundland. It's something that a lot of car guys aspire to conquer in their lifetime. It's a pretty big deal, even if you may not realize it.
Proud American, Proud New Yorker, avid hockey fan go Rangers, ravenous fan of Canada, and still the only person I know of who knows O'Canada and proudly sings both Canadian and American anthems at applicable sporting events, and this song fills me with happiness!!!
+Chris Matos Let's Go Rangers!
Before yesterday I hadnt even heard of PTH...the song "clarity" came on my XM radio and I came home and this is the first thing i found on youtube. I literally have chills from this.
Incredible band
you are so lucky they play protest the hero at your local radio stations.
but unfourtanetly your are 6 years late :)
+adi ben xm radio isn't local bud!
yeah you missed out ive listend to these guys since i was 14 and bloodmeat is still their best song.
Bloodmeat from the live album is one of the sickest performances I've ever heard.
Gosh yes. Blodmeat was basically Highschool for me.
This is one of the best music videos I've ever seen. The heart and spirit these guys have inspires the shit out of me. The whole thing is inspiring.
It fills you with determination.
I'm watching this in 2020 with my heart warmed all over again, it means so much to me how you guys genuinely cared about us and love it here. You're very loved by this province.
I was one of those kids - it was amazing.
+Kenneth Parsons I would doubt that but Parsons is the family name on my Mom's side, directly from the Island. Must have been a hell of a show.
+TheLivingRandom
It certainly was. At the CLB Armory if my memory serves me
well. Newfoundland had a big heavy metal/rock scene back then. Bands like
Commoname (older), Cypirus, Call the Ambulance, Weapon, Children of Eve, and more. Actually what wasn't mentioned in this video was Tim Millar dove off the stage at the worse time and no one caught him but he kept playing like champ. When Protest returned after Fortress he mentioned on the mic he was going dive before doing so and this time it was the right time lol. Unfortunately, I don’t think the Heavy Metal scene is what it is these days in Newfoundland.
Mad respect for you.
we love you
@@TheLivingRandom Why would you doubt that?
Being drunk and my boyfriend telling me he held up the stage for them, this is amazing I love it so much!
Where in newfoundland did they play?
yes b'y.
@letsfixit101 in St John's it was the Clb Armory
@@rachelbaexo those were great times. It was actually a good size for a venue too. I'm just sad there isn't much of a scene here anymore 😢
I wanna go there! Looks so beautiful!
It is beautiful. So glad to call this place my home!
Come for a Visit! It is worth the trip man
Yes man, come on down!
yeah!
Vud Aaaah, me too :P
First discovered them as a teen. Now I’m in my 30’s and I’m FINALLY seeing them live! 😍❤️
I'm from Mississippi and i work in texas for long stretches of time, a good ways away from home. Hearing this song, and the pride these people have not just in where they come from, but their trademark state-of-mind and attitude really makes me miss home even more. By all accounts, Mississippi sucks, not much opportunity and certainly not alot of open minds. But i still miss it. My city, hattiesburg, in particular. We have an awesome music scene and a true camaraderie that ive yet to find anywhere else. Bless PTH and Newfoundland and wherever anyone may call their home.

This band is so underrated it HURTS!!!!!!!!!!❤🩹❤🩹❤🩹❤🩹❤🩹 I'm from USA, Maine and this bands voice has reached me and has had such a positive affect on my life! Could not thank you guys enough...please never stop making music!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!
Underrated because the ones rating (public) have lost their minds in less than a decade. Granted, PtH play advanced music, not your usual 4/4 and stuff like this only turns on musicians and advanced listeners. We are a minority and our rating is irrelevant
I'm from the Czech republic, and this is the best song ever written. Period.
God just watching the bois and their honest love and affection for that lil place is adorable, chokes me up every time
This is the most pure hearted song and video I've ever heard or seen. I love it and them
I watch this video every so often and I have such fond memories tied to this song. Love the band, love this song, especially love the capture of a moment in time.
what a freaking honor to have a song like this written about your hometown. the added context in the video makes it 100x better, so good.
I'm not from Newfoundland. I'm not even from Canada. I'm from little ol' Kansas City in the heart of the United States, which is an otherwise unremarkable place with fairly unremarkable people who have a lot of heart. I watched this video and I felt something great rising in my chest, a sort of golden glow. Seeing a song written with such compassionate love, with such utter camaraderie and just utter, unyielding spirit and appreciation... it just made me feel really amazing. To all reading this, remember, there is someone who loves where you live and the people in it as much as Protest the Hero loves Newfoundland and its people. And, to Protest the Hero..... may you all live forever. You raise spirits, you raise glasses, and you raise the volume, and I could not be more thankful for your existence.
Very well said man. I think you speak for a lot of us.
Neowyrm this. Times a thousand.
My dude, Us Kansas City folk at least have The Get up Kids which inspired a lot of bands all with different genres. The Fall of Troy comes to mind and the are great friends with PTH. Rody sang the hook for Dirty Pillow Talk. I am proud to be from KC and you should too. Our math rock scene is off the hook!
I come from a wildly different world (stone throw away from NYC), but felt the same thing. Maybe growing up with Newfoundland dogs helped lol
Jokes aside, I think this song invokes a universal sentiment in people. Cheers brotha.
KC Crew RISE UP
This still makes me shed a lil happy tear every time, many years later
Just discovered these guys recently..... Unbelievable. This band exists on another level of compositional technicality.
On 9/11 the town of Gander (10,000) hosted 6,700 on planes forced to land there. They took people into their homes, gave up their own beds, fed, and cared for these people like they were long awaited friends. My wife and her family visited in the late 90's and said more than once they were invited to complete strangers homes to have a home cooked meal. "Nice" just doesn't seem to cut it for describing these people.
This happened in New Brunswick was well. My grandparents hosted a stranded family. Real love
I'm not a NewFoundlander but I'm a proud Atlantic Canadian NFL, NB, P.E.I, N.S !
You just made me realize that if you put P.E.I and N.S. together it kind of looks like P.E.N.I.S
I'm from BC but a proud Atlantic Canadian as well !!! NS ALL THE FREAKIN WAY !!!
Guys, I was really moved by this video. I love my home but I don't expect other people to see it the way I do. That you folks do, that you love this place enough to write this song, is really incredible and it means a lot. I've been a big fan for a long time, but this video and this song... it's hard to put into words. It's incredible and you're incredible. We love you here in NL, guys, many happy returns! And once you're done touring, you've got a home here for sure!
One of my all-time good mood-songs 🖤
This year I came to Newfoundland for the first time since I was born. I got to meat all my family; I got to touch, taste, smell, see and feel things I'd never before. I feel so fortunate to have been able to come to this home of mine. Now, to top it all off, Protest the Hero releases a video about us? I'm complete. Fling out the flag, b'ys. Merci. :)
Tourism NL never done anything half so good. I'll never forget this long as I lives, being at the 3 different shows especially at the Levee for the video shoot, had a great chat with Tim, there cant be any other band like you guys. Not just the sound but the way you interact with us everywhere you go. You're one of us now, b'ys
fuck you buddy fadder works fer Tourism NL, you can fly da fuck
Hard for me not to get a little choked up watching this, even 9 years later. Was introduced to Protest when my buddy showed me Kezia, and we listened to 'em so much back in the day. I never dreamed back then that these guys would come to our province as many times as they have, let alone write a killer song about us
Hope to see ya at the upcoming show, b'ys! Will be good to have ya back home
I never realized how great this song is until now. Me and my wife are going to newfoundland for our honeymoon because we wanted to explore our own country instead of doing the typical thing and go to Mexico (which is still a great country). I'm so excited for our trip, we are going to the viking settlement in lanseaux meadows.
Newfoundland is pretty awesome, every time I see a commercial for it on TV it makes me want to go. Sadly i'm about as far away as you can be in Canada, so it's one hell of a trip, maybe one day.
I feel you bruh
This is such a Stan-Rogers-meets-the-90s vibe and I love it
Still my favorite song of Protest the hero. It has that special, deep different vibe form the first to the last second. Watching the videothat feeling made complete sense.
I grew up in whitby from 1988 until 2009 moved to newfoundland when i was 27. Nice to see some whitby boys giving newfoundland some exposure.
The people of Newfoundland seem so genuine
you wouldn't say that if you lived here long enough... Just as many shitty people here like anywhere else.
@@NGDemonSlayer12 I mean we're pretty warm and nice to an extent, its more of us observing you and seeing if you're acceptable to be around
They are very friendly ppl
Who is here after the fan guy’s enthusiasm for this band on Jared dines video ?
Edit:- Thanks for the likes.
Mahesh Chetry that video brought me back to Protest the Hero, forgot how much I loved this song lol
Eduardo g I have recently discovered the band. Just listen to this song and it was just mind blowing 🤘🏻. Thanks to jared dines and the fan guy 😄
Mahesh Chetry me
Me!
I am, and I laughed when I saw your comment.
Promoting one place's tourism won't get any better than this. We, on the other side of the globe, now have the idea what it looks like and how absolutely beautiful Newfoundland & Labrador is.
I dont know if either this band or the person from the Glass Beach band will see this but as a Newfoundlander Im so glad he showed me this song, being from such a far away part of the island that is of itself far enough away from the world thank you for giving us a chance and thank you for possibly inspiring others to do so. My only regret is not finding this earlier.
I moved from Newfoundland to Nova Scotia a few months back, and while the two provinces are somewhat similar there is something different about the whole vibe. This song just made me so incredibly homesick, and at the same time so proud to be from The Rock.
Just wanna say that this song makes me feel so overwhelmingly happy. It has been in my "top 3" favorites ever since I heard it.
The lyrics, the meaning of the song reminds me of my second hometown, Bloomington. Every time I jam this song in my car and sing along I say "Here's to Bloomington" and it just hits me to the core.
Love to all ya up north. Here's to Newfoundland! ❤️🤘
Just an amazing song. I'm constantly impressed by these lads.
You don't know me, I don't know you guys, all I know is that I love you. Your music makes me feel like we've been brothers in some alternate universe or past life. Thank you!
Man what a band these guys are. The chemistry and genuinity of them is just great.
Absolutely incredible how much this band respects and values their fans! Protest keep kicking ass forever!!
I've never heard any other song by PTH but I would go to a show just to hear this song. Provided that show takes place on the rock. No place like home.
Why doesn't this video have more views I swear this is one of the GREATEST songs I've ever heard and this band is just simply AMAZING, these guys deserve more attention, imo these guys are extremely under rated.
Dude, I've never been there and this songs makes it already feel like home
Protest the Hero will forever be in my top 3. Thank you for the years of incredible music!
the acoustic guitar at the end of this song is one of the most beautiful things i've ever heard in my life.
This is passion.
It is now my dream to see Protest in Newfoundland and then just live there.
+#freecody there's a reason the song is called mist, I've been all over the world but the island will always be worth the trouble
Traveled to Quebec from France.
Pretty rare for a french dude to be adopted by the people there but from what I can tell, once Canadians have accepted you it's for life.
I miss these lands. I come back here from time to time to watch this video to get the feeling back. It's something I haven't felt anywhere else and I'm sure a lot of people can relate, thx PTH :)
My favorite use of major scale. I listen to this song almost daily to either start or end my day on a (hopefully) positive note. Love the message, love the fervor, love everything about it. I'm ready to go to Newfoundland and listen to this song the entire time JUST because of this song. Kinda crazy that something as simple as a well-written song can have so much impact.
Protest the Hero is one of the few bands that today touch me in a way music hasn't done since middle school.
Their music make me happy (as in I'm glad to be alive), make me want to rock out and sad (because of the themes of some of songs) - all at the same time.
Thanks guys for being there. Here's for 50 more years!
I think this one is my favourite of your all music videos. Quality of it is so high, it's like watching documentary about Newfoundland on Discovery Channel or something.
Watched this video fully 16 times now. My favourite Protest video, and probably my favourite music video of all time. This video puts me in a good mood and makes me proud to be Canadian
B'ys I got tears in me eyes. 8 years later and this song still gets to me. This song and this band mean the absolute world to us. With love from the Island.
Awesome! I was wondering what some of the weirder lyrics were about.
Luke's Ibanez LACS is so nice!
My first show was their third in St. John's and the second show was a bit of a legend. The friend I went with told me he'd nearly broken an arm last time but he insisted on still being on the rails. I remember thinking that was a bad idea through each of the local acts and then Bloodmeat happened and suddenly it was all worth it.
I think that's not just a LACS, it's a J.Custom and it's very nice! =)
Jenric Gonzales It doesn't say J-custom at the headstock so I'm 100% sure its the LACS he had built a few years ago.
Lorcan Ward Hmmm. But I am sure as well that Luke has a J.Custom as I saw it on the band's instagram account. And it has the tree of life inlay as well like what he is using on this video.
Jenric Gonzales That's his orange J. Custom. The one used on this video it's a LACS.
I finally found it after years of looking this makes me so damn happy
My band opened for these guys the first time they came to ottawa ontario Canada. Club saw. Will never forget it!!
What a band, what a song.
Wow man the hearts of people is what turns the gears of life.
From the day this was released to now. Song still overwhelms me wuth joy i cry everytime and im not even a Newfoundlander . Love yall
Might be the best music video I have ever seen, got a lump in my throat after this one.
This makes me so proud I can't even explain it.
My favorite band and my home, woah.
B'ys it's 2022 and I'm still loving it.
Damn, Newfoundland seems like the sickest place to just chill and toss a couple back, meanwhile I'm stuck here in the shittiest part of Ontario...
meanwhile IM stuck in the US
Jake Stephen me too bro. No worries
its sad too cause they came to town less than a week ago and i didnt have the cash to blow ): ive been waiting 8 years of listening to these guys just to see them and everytime i fuck myself over xD
My son just showed me this video. Fantastic band, 'Protest the Hero'. And good job with the Screech! Thank you for telling the world about us!
I'm so glad I found this band, best metal I've heard in a while
+Nate Sassoon 4:07 - 4:50 is godly
+Nate Sassoon the section at follows up, starting at 4:50 is also very good
the whole song's fucking awesome
@@ytsersius yeah
Why would you unlike this? Seriously?
It's a never-ending cycle. There will always be people hating on music, even if they don't have a valid point lol
This clip deserves so many more views. I love listening to this when I’m feeling shit. Really lifts the spirits high!
We do appreciate it and we can't wait to see you again! You'll always have a place deep in our hearts 🤙🏻❤️
As someone from Whitby, ON and born in Newfoundland. This is such a good video
This is one of the best music videos out I have ever seen.
Not to take away from Newfoundland at all, but I feel that this type of attitude is shared by all the Maritime islands in Canada. They're so welcoming, laid back, and would literally take the shirt off their back for someone they just met. I'm so proud to say I'm Canadian, Nova Scotian, and a Protest the Hero fan. Love you all.
You gotta love Protest The Hero's originality with everything they do. Incredibly unique music, the music videos, the song meanings. etc... It's heartbreaking to see two of the members leave the band :'(
It was awesome to finally get to see these guys live in 2017 at Santa Ana Observatory, after all the years since i first became a fan in 2005. Salute to PTH and us fans. Greetings from INLAND EMPIRE, SOUTHERN CALI
One of the best live shows and always smiles to be had. Love this band.
Never in my life have I felt so proud to be a true Newfoundlander. You guys did a proud thing for a proud people with this song. Gives me chills every time we bys here in Newfoundland crank your awesome song. Can't wait to see you guys here again when you come back next.
This album takes me to another level!!!!
So this is what a music video is like when it's not paid for and directed by a record label?
Unique, refreshing. An actually good expenditure of the money that is spent on music videos, for once.
A piece of film with a story and meaning behind it. Not just some dudes playing in a wet, dark room.
This song never gets old! One of my faves
I discovered volition with mist song few weeks ago and it's a rebirth of my metal heart. Now I'm a hero, not by birth but in my heart ;-) I missed you last year in France but not next time if you come back, congrats for you albums, each songs and band spirit :-)
What a great song ... Love you Canadians people, all of you !
Greatest feelings from this video/song. Can't praise it enough.
That ending is nothing short of spectacular
dude... this song and video is so wholesome
watched these dudes first show at our public school in whitby. grade 6 dance.
they played a few blink covers. NOFX covers.
and one of their originals called `jump`where they would all jump at once lol
they have come so far.
like. whos that good thier first show ever. you could see there was something special there.
it also inspired me to got into music. and end up playing with protest one show.
Straight up one of the most beautiful music videos I've ever seen.
Can't get enough of this, love them and this video/song.
Friend of mine showed me this song i don't know how long ago. Now it's one of those songs that really means a lot to both of us 😊
Straight Up, FAVORITE BAND!!!!
I love this band for so many reasons, and this is a new one.
The most beautiful outro to a song I've ever heard
Yes, I be a Newfoundlander B’y. Not by birth, but in my heart.
Seeing these guys in Perth 10th September... Cannont wait to hear this song, hopefully they play it!
