- Building your own furniture is not hard. It just takes a few tools, practice and patience. Today I designed and built a triple bunk bed for my daughter, Francesca. I designed it so it can easily be taken apart in five separate pieces (3 beds & 2 side frames). I will eventually attach a slide to it as well! I hope you enjoy the video and thank you for watching!

Hello Everyone! I am not a professional artist, designer nor carpenter and someone had asked if my parents taught me these skills. No, both my parents worked in healthcare. 😁👨⚕️👨⚕️ I am simply someone who was tired of going into debt in order to afford what I thought we needed. So a few years ago I started sketching and building! Our family is now consumer debt free, but I still build. 😊 My 9yo daughter asked for this bunk bed and so here it is. I hope you enjoy the video and thank you for watching!
🏆
It is so exciting seeing you follow your 😀passion again!!!
We Love ⚙️🔩🔨 seeing your minimalist design and builds! Ephesians 3:20-21
The three children popping in the video to help you. Priceless!!!
Your older daughter and husband helping to set it up... 🤗🤗🤗Family team work...makes the dream work. 💫✨💫✨💫✨✨⭐️✨⭐️💫✨💫
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Best two lines.
”Mommy and I build everything together ❤️”
”ive been dreaming about this for 6 months!” ❗🦋🤗
Starting w the design drawing was tooooo cool 😎. Awesomeness
Do you have plans available? Looking for a foster family that needs triple bunks!
Great job.. whats your ceiling height on this video? Planning to get 1 but my ceiling is only 7'5"...thanks
@@shawnreyes3323 Triple bunks work best with 10’ ceilings. My ceilings are 8’, and I have loft/bunk beds for my 5 kids, and I highly recommend allowing enough space for an adult to sit up on each bunk. This will make your life much easier when changing the sheets. Hope this helps.
This is fantastic!!! We have 9 kids and need to do some room rearranging . This could solve our lack of space problem in a hurry!!!😁👍🏻
Nine??? Wow.
Jonathan K my. Mom has 12
Hey I have none. LOL. I watched because it's so nice to see a lady working with wood. She does excellent work.
Lol, I love all of the reactions to large families! We have 10 so we get it a lot too!
Love this video! "Me and Mom always build together." And "Your awesome mom!" Those are the best parts of this video...#doingparentingright 😘
Thank you! I have 6 boys and we live in a SMALL apartment I'm a single mom
This is going to make it so my kids can have room to play again
I love the simplicity of the design. I wish this came out a year and a half ago because we needed a triple bunk but just used out existing bunk and raised it up. Of course the child on top can reach the ceiling and I have literally said "stop eating the ceiling!" (it's a popcorn ceiling). We have six children and we need another triple bunk so I will be referring to this video again. Thanks for the great content!
Yay!!!! They're done!!! Way to go!!!
Thanks Dawn! 😘
@Hannah Kartchner Thank you Hannah! And I know I can speak for both us here in saying that your kind words mean so much. 🥰
Woman! You Rock! Well done, yet again! You sure know how to look after your families needs. You and Joe are an awesome team.
You ARE awesome!! Great job plus it teaches your children that mom can do ANYthing!!! You rock!!
Thank you! My husband has been wanting to build a triple bunk for our boys. This is perfect!
Wonderful! My husband and I are trying to find ways to make life more self-sufficient, and I'm a bit of a minimalist. So, it is always a joy to see parts of your life through this channel. Thank you very much for your videos! I'm sure my husband would love to see any more wood-working videos you put out there. Thanks for sharing!
This was amazing to watch you all work together to get it done!!! On a side note Darci, you have been an inspiration to me in many areas of my life. But on a fun note, I'm starting to walk everyday and encouraging my daughter to come with me. It's so much fun no matter the weather! Love it!
That's wonderful Laurie! Thank you for sharing! 🥰
Wow! I am speechless and in tears. I love watching you with your family!!! Get it girl!!!
You are such an inspiration Darci! I also love how your family helps and supports you.
Really nice build. We love seeing the family work together. Thank you for being a positive role model.
You have skills mama! We just bought a triple bunk for $400...double the price but we love it.
It looks so amazing Darci! The kiddos will love it!
👏👏👏Awesome carpenter!!!! ❤ thst you depict Proverbs 31 woman so well .
What a great idea, and a super space-saver, too!
I love how uncluttered the room looks now, Darci - and wish my Mum had thought of something like this when I was growing up - with 5 girls in one bedroom, it was crowded! Lol
Now I’ll be dreaming about this forever 😍...thanks for sharing Darci it’s looks perfect 👌🏻 😊💕
You totally rock!

Brilliant job Darci!
I just googled triple bunk beds and you can't find any less than the $400-$1,000 price range. I'm totally having James make this for the kids' room!
Blessed and talented. Wow!!!!

So glad you liked it Rebecca! 🤗
Absolutely fantastic!!! You are a role model for me! 💕 greetings from Germany!
Good job!! You got some skills that's for sure!!!
That’s amazing!
Very nice! We are planning on making a quad bunk for our four boys. You have inspired me that, yes, I can do it!
I’m so glad you made this. 💜💜💜 I’ve been wanting a triple bunk for our boys but they are SO expensive!! You always make building stuff look so doable! 😊
Reminds me of the bunks in my college dorm rooms. I was able to claim the bottom bed of the triple bunk three out of four years, it was great, I could literally roll out of bed in the morning.
That is sooo Awesome 👍👏👏👏
Thanks very much, I used this as the basis for mine that I just finished, with a few minor tweaks.
That sketch intro and music was beautiful!
Darci you are amazing! I know you had help from your lovely family but you truly are an inspiration - who says women can’t make their own furniture! 😁
Wow very impresive!
Great taem work!
Forgot to leave a comment and a thumbs up. I was watching the video in segments while the girls were at gymnastics. I couldn't wait! Haha. This was great! Thank you again so much! You're fantastic, Darci!
I wish I had your patience and saw skills! 😊 Job well done!!!
Thank you! But I'm sure you can do it too. My saw skills are self-taught. 😁
Darci Isabella I’m certainly inspired! 😊
Great job
good job!
I love your channel. I'd love to have a homestead and be able to build things myself in the future.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I never comment but Darci this is amazing. I enjoy your channel so much.
Thank you Rebecca! This means a lot to me. ❤️
it turned out great. Everybody helped XD
I'm sure this was a ton of work but you made it look simple and I'm so inspired now LOL. thank you!
Thank YOU! 🥰
I am serious. Its like you read my mind! I need a triple bunk for my 3 boys. The room has 9ft ceilings, so there's plenty of space up, but not foot print.
Awesome 😃
I'm using this design to convert my daughter's loft bed into a triple bunk and on the outside it will look like a trilevel house. Lumber is already in the garage and picking up a mitre saw tomorrow. I'm super excited to start this project. Next, a sandbox.
the fact you did this with not 1 level. My mind is blown.
That’s amazing Darci! I wish I had your craft man ship. I also end up with crooked boards too. 🤷🏼♀️ but that’s awesome!
One of the few diy furniture I've done is bunkie boards. The first one I did 4 years ago when my boy broke boards on it by jumping on the bed. I reinforced it with several extra boards and improved the outside cover with outdoor fabric. Then this last summer, I took apart a trashy looking twin box foundation and 2 more flimsy bunkie boards (from my parents storage unit) and made two more solid ones, covering them with outdoor fabric I had gotten from someone decluttering. Score. So the second two were nearly free.
CONGRATULATIONS!
WHERE DID U FIND THIS WOMAN!?!?
IM HEADED TO LOWES ASAP!!! LOL JK
GOOD JOB 🤩
Much appreciated
Great video, thanks for including the parts and quantities. Unfortunately even after the recent drop from the spring 2021 lumber spike the cost for making this bed in August 2021 is around $380 just for the untreated lumber.
Just bought all the wood came out to $170 just wish she would have did the slide on the side
I agree with your $380 price point for all this wood definitely not a $200 job anymore
I just bought all the wood and I end up spending $410 that's including the screws, and home depot employees cut all my woods for me.
OMG I made this for my children 3 years ago, your's looks better than mine. Oh we added curtains for each
My children would love curtains! Great idea!
Is that the father? If so, a great role model for the children. Good job pops!
Great job! Lots of screws to remove if you ever have to move it. Thats why bolts are better, but excellent job!!!!
God Bless you and your family🌟👍✋🇳🇿
Wow👍👍👍👍
Love it! But where's the ladder?!?
So cool! I would love to do sometimes like this but it is SO intimidating!! I would like to do just a double, but with the bottom one on the floor like youre, because my guys are still pretty little. Hmmm!
Awe, I wanted to see all the kids stacked in their new beds.
Love the design! Straightforward and effective :)

Question your 32 inch mark. Is that the top of 2x4
Can you please do a tutorial on what ladder you made for the triple bunk, thank you :)
I'm catching up on all your videos because we moved at about the same time you did and I have school but whoa there's been a lot of uploads lately 💪🏼I'm excited to get back here
Glad you're back! Our house is still for sale so haven't moved yet.
@@darciisabella well I'm sick today so I'll be catching up on your vids! Hope the move goes smoothly and everything falls into place x
I want to make twin bunk bed for my girls since two separate twin bed takes up too much for a small room. I like your plans
Is there a list of needed materials/sizes you might have somewhere?? I’m a novice and not sure what kind of lumber or screws to buy. Thanks. That was amazing!! Love how your kids helped
nice
Hello Darci I have been watching your vlogs for sometime. My husband would like to build the triple bunkbeds for are 3 little ones but it will be the first piece of furniture every to build would you have the step by step on a blog or somewhere else we can find more in depth instructions typed out? Thank you again for your time you are loved, wanted, and appreciated .
did you build a ladder? how do the kids get in and out? Great video!
That bed near the floor will be good for growing dust bunnies!
You do such good work!! Are you still planning on moving? Is so when? And will the beds go along with you?
Thank you! Yes, when the house sells and of course!
Now that is nice‼‼‼‼‼👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍🥰🥰🥰😎😎😎😎🛏🛏🛏 Fantastic job!
Thank you Sharon!
Hi Darci! We have 3 boys sharing a small room and this would be a great idea for them.....just one question....what is it like changing the bedding on the top bunk? Any thoughts on that? Thank you Darci!
Cool and clever, of course; fun to watch take place . Any issue with rough wood patches, or splinters ?
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH I'm slowly wathcing an making notes. Going to build it this weekend. Gorgious and perfect for my nephews. ages (2) (3) and (9).
I do have a few questions I hope you don''t mind. Yes I watched the video SEVERAL times :)
- What length did you cut the 4x4 beams?
- What size screws did you use? or was there multiple sizes?, drill bit?
-How high from the bed frame (box) is the safety 1x4 rail?
- What is YOUR opinion on using a sheet of plywood in place of slats? (I already have some on hand)
LOVE THIS SO MUCH!! ♥
I saw there is no response to this, I’m probably gonna try building this here in the next week or two, did you end up making it and if so do you remember how long you cut your 4x4’s to?
Just to clarify, this was under 200 because you had the other two twin beds already, correct? And did I miss where you posted the measurements and design?
This is fantastic by the way, and is currently on our to do list because we are expecting baby number 4 soon.
Glad you like it! The less than $200 includes all 3 beds and the measurements/design were in the video. I buy wood from my local Lowe's.
Building the 3rd twin bed
👍3 kids in a small space.
Very nice. Are you leaving it natural? I like that look. I bet the kids will have fun sleeping in those beds.
Yes! I have come to really appreciate the look of natural wood.
Wow... Well done family! ;) Looks fantastic..;) Is there going to be guardrails for the pillows not falling down? 🥰🥰🥰
Where is a ladder to get to 2nd and 3rd bunk. Great video though
