  • Fire Marine Parade in Southampton
    Crews are currently attending a fire in Marine Parade Southampton. The initial call came in at 13:05. The fire is affecting industrial units near St Mary’s football stadium. There are currently 8 Fire engines, 2 Aerial Ladder Platforms and other specialist vehicles in attendance.

    Additional fire engines are now heading to the scene to make it up to 18. There are five industrial units, the fire currently involves three .
    There is lots of smoke and people in the area are reminded to keep doors and windows closed.

    There are currently around 100 firefighters in attendance tackling the fire.
    This is a significant incident and it is likely there will be a fire presence in the area for a prolonged period of time. Over that time, our presence will scale down as the fire is fully extinguished and the smoke plume dissipates.
    Residents in the area affected by the smoke plume are advised to keep doors and windows closed. Some roads local to the incident are closed and people are advised to avoid the area to allow movements of emergency vehicles.
    In light of the smoke and travel disruption colleagues at Southampton FC have taken the decision to postpone this evening’s scheduled match

    HIWFRS Incident Commander John Amos said:
    “We’ve got more than 100 personnel onsite working extremely hard to tackle a well-developed fire near to St Mary’s Stadium in Southampton.
    “We have been working closely with our partner agencies and Southampton Football Club throughout this incident, with tonight’s scheduled match postponed.
    We expect to have a presence on the scene overnight and into tomorrow. We ask that the public avoid the area due to a number of road closures in place, and that local residents keep windows and doors closed because of the large smoke plume.”

    The fire is under control and our firefighters remain on scene. Relief crews take over from midnight and overnight we will be downscaling our response, the make up will be five fire engines and an Aerial Ladder Platform.
    There are five industrial units on the site, three of those units are fully involved in the fire, measures are being taken to protect the other two.

    Crews remain at the fire that has affected industrial units near St Mary’s football stadium, Southampton. There are currently 4 Fire engines, 1 Aerial Ladder Platform and other specialist vehicles in attendance.
    People in the area are advised to keep windows and doors closed due to the amount of smoke that is still in the area.

    18 pumps, plus the high volume pumping unit -which can do the work of 8 standard pumps - so quite a blaze then.
