  • Cherokee Nation Deputy Principal Chief Bryan Warner sits down with Cherokee genealogist David Hampton at the Cherokee National Research Center in Tahlequah, Cherokee Nation Reservation, present-day Oklahoma, to explore Deputy Warner’s family history and to look at historical documents related to his family.
During his genealogy research, David Hampton created a family tree and combed through Dawes Roll census (enrollment) cards for Native Americans, allotment records, Civil War records, newspaper archives, and more.

I am the descendant of *Bill* & *Fannie* Thomason. Of the Tsalagi , from the *Dawes Rolls* . My great grandfather's mother passed when he was a little boy, he was raised in the Chickasaw community, and by his father's second wife: an immigrant from Lowland Scotland. He was ethnically Tsalagi, but raised among the Chickasaw, in the household of a Scotch woman, he was also a veteran of *World War 1* .
I'm very proud to be descendant of who I am.
    Thank you for sharing. 🙏
