- Unless you really know your stuff about Argentine football, you may have never heard of San Lorenzo de Almagro. Unique for many reasons - they've had a checkered history.
Champions of the Copa Libertadores in 2014. Designated by Maradona himself as the club with the most creative fans in Argentina.
Kicked out of their stadium by the government decades ago. Named after a local priest who tried to get local kids out of trouble by playing organized football. Nicknamed "Los Cuervos" or "The Crows". Still yearning to return home to their original home of Boedo...there's alot to know about San Lorenzo.
I admit, I knew nothing about the club, considered one of Buenos Aires's "Big 5", before my friend Juan invited me to a match versus Godoy Cruz. I didn't really know what to expect, but I'm so glad I went!
The atmosphere, even for a match that had been rescheduled from the day before, was pumping! "La Gloriosa Butteler", the club's ultras, generate an impressive level of volume. Their banners don't stop shaking for the entire match. And even though there wasn't much to cheer on the field, their support pushed the team to a 1-0 victory (after a very dramatic stoppage for a VAR decision, of course!).
And somehow I just couldn't escape other guys from the USA - our tickets happened to be right in front of a group from New York in Buenos Aires for a bachelor party!
If you find yourself in Buenos Aires, don't miss San Lorenzo. Internationally, they don't have as big a reputation as Boca, River, Independiente, or Racing, but they have an incredible stadium culture that you can't miss!

Estuve en Los Angeles se fascinan con las historias del ciclon , especialmente con los canticos de la hinchada , los milagros que ha generado y como se vive el futbol como nosotros con las gambetas del perrito Barrios
El Perrito! El mundo de habla inglesa no sabe mucho más sobre el fútbol argentino que Boca y River. pero la historia de san lorenzo merece ser compartida.
@@BecauseFootball_ debuto a los 18 años faltando 10 minutos en Copa Libertadores (el torneo mas importante del continente)y convirtio el gol del triunfo al otro partido por la misma copa volvio a ingresar y dio las dos asistencias con las que San Lorenzo clasifico agonicamente a la proxima fase, alla por los años 64 65 , el 1er equipo que vi de San Lorenzo fueron los recordados "carasucias " (Les llamaban asi porque eran juveniles casi todos que jugaban mucho mas cuando habia cancha embarrada por su formacion en potreros (canchas de tierra seca) aquel equipo integrado por glñorias como Telch (campeon en Copa de las Naciones jugando contra Brasil marcando 2 goles, Doval ( que fue posteriormente idolo en Brasil) Veira Casas era de una audacia y creatividad fuera de lo comun Barrios tiene algunas cosas de ese futbol de gambeta impredecible tal vez no tan productivo pero si poetico, hubo otrops equipos memorables , los matadores 1er campeon invicto año 68 el bicampeon del 72 el campeon del 74 del 60 a los 70 fue una epoca dorada del club futbolisticamente hablando. In the context of the subtitles of the song, Pendejo doesn't mean idiot, it means "since I was a child". This is Argentinian slang that differs from how the word pendejo Is used in other countries

I travelled to Argentina in 2008 just to experience the football, it was my passion ever since I was young. I’m from Australia. I met locals through CZcams who agreed to take me to the games and in the poplar section (hooligans section). So I bought my plane ticket and off I went! The experience I had was incredible, football back in the 2000s in Argentina was completely lawless, much different to what it is now, and made for the most incredible atmospheres that I’m so grateful I got to experience because there is nothing like it in this world anymore
Yes, I was actually surprised by how "tame" the stadiums seemed. I'm sure it was quite a thrill when you went, but probably for society's sake it's better now. Although it is a shame that away fans aren't permitted.

San Lorenzo fan here. the name of the fans has to parts: La gloriosa, which unites all the fans of the club, and the Butteler, the barrabravas (hooligans) who come up with the distinctive songs that are use all over the world
