Just used this video to do a left lower ball joint on my 2001 LS430. An independent shop wanted $615 for part, labor and alignment. I was able to do it myself for less than $200 in parts and tools. Car doesn’t seem like it needs an alignment and will get that when I eventually get new tires anyway…it was easy enough I’m going to do the right one also for good measure and only $115 incremental cost for the OEM part.

Could always buy the life time alignment package from fire stone. Can get an alignment anytime you do suspension work.

If you got warranty on your parts like me. At O'Reilly's I just take the bad one back and get a new one.

This video makes this job look so easy. I called around for a quote and I got $300 for this labor. I instead invested in some home shop tools. Crossing my fingers I get this right!

Nice walk through which will make this job go smoothly. I'm going to look at his other videos since I already replaced my upper control arm, I'll want to check I did it right.

What did you feel/hear when you were driving that let you know that they needed to be done?

Great detailed video. I noticed that you have had the lower control arm bushings replaced as well. Are those aluminum versions from the newer (is)'s?
Do they help with steering wheel shimmying?

Question please If the ball joint fails do the 2 bolts in the hub still allow you to continue driving to get off the highway to a safe spot. Obviously there will be a bang/clunk. Iv recently seen a ball joint failure only supported by one nut on another vehicle & it become undriveable. This set up has more securing bolts is why I ask if the ball joint came apart does the wheel collapase or would there just be a noticeable tilt. Any help to understand this is appreciated. Thanks

Nice rust free LS! WD40 probably not required in your case. Lucky man.
