- In this video I disassemble, clean and reassemble the Winchester 94 22 from my earlier video "Winchester Model 94 Conservation": • Winchester Model 94 Co...
Hopefully this will help someone who has one of these lever guns take care of it and not be afraid to deep clean it.
Grandfather is about to give me 2 never fired 9422 one is the trapper and one belonged to my dad he’s had them for over 30 years. Thanks for the video
That is really nice. Congratulations.
Excellent, thank you very much. Now I have confidence in cleaning my hand me down 9422M.
Glad to help.
Thank you sir, I just picked up one of these rifles and this is just the video I needed to strip it down and give the internals a good old cleaning.
That is great to know. Thank you for commenting. Good luck with your new rifle.
Exactly what I needed. Thank you for the great video.
I am happy to hear that. Thank you for letting me know. I make most of the videos exactly for that reason, to help others. So it is extra nice when that happens and I am told. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Thank you so much, I was wondering why I couldn't put it back together. Now I know you have to cock the hammer.
Awesome. Glad this helped you.
I replaced the take down screw with a saddle ring, no need to use a screwdriver anymore
You did a great job John. I hope to get an old lever 22 someday👍🏻
Yes I really enjoyed this rifle. I would love to own one. It is butter smooth. The magnum 22 round is really sweet to shoot too. Thanks for the kind comment.
Great job. One thing to add is use a nickel $.05 for the takedown screw. I read that it was designed for that and on mine it fits perfectly and no danger of scuffing anything with a screw driver.
Very cool and great to know. Thank you.
You just saved me a lot of time and money. A nickle works perfect, thank you!
@@MotoCampAdventure Glad it helped!
thanks john for your help
Great Video John
Thanks Chris. I am happy I got to work on the gun and play with it a bit. Had to film it to save the memories and also show others how to work on them.
Excellent video 👍
Thank you. I know it is a little long and slow for some folks, but it is supposed to be instructional. Thank you for your kind comment and for watching.
Beauty! Mike.
Thanks. I was happy to clean it up and it came out nice. Really smooth action.
exellet video my friend!
Thank you Harold.
Great video tutorial! Very descriptive. What brand of cleaning rod are you using if I may ask? I am tired of these cheap screw together rods that disappoint.
It is a Dewey one piece rod. They are fantastic. I get the smaller diameter (.17 I think) they recommend it on their website. Works great. Worth the price.
@@johnshandloading7907 Thanks! I will look them up
Do you have a video on how to replace the extractor on a 9422M. Mine will eject live rounds without issues but once you fire the rifle it will not pull out the fired magnum cartrridge from the barrel. there are no gunsmiths where I live so I have to try to fix it myself. Visual inspection shows no damage to the extractor but I want to replace it with the spring as part of my truouble shooting steps. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I don't have a video on that particular part. I do show the parts in this video but I don't disassemble them. I would take it apart like in this video and clean everything really well. Pay particular attention to the moving parts in the block and make sure it is scrubbed clean in there. I think a good cleaning of the chamber is in order as well. The case tends to get stuck in a dirty chamber after firing. Start with a really good cleaning of everything. I don't have a good gunsmith near me either. Good luck.
Thanks for the instructive video. Quick question - you mentioned using carnauba wax on the stock. That smooth stock looked great with the wax. Do you think that wax will be good on a checked stock too? Thanks in advance.
That is a good question. The raw wood may soak in the wax and turn white, I am not sure. I have only used it on sealed wood. You could run it up to the edges of the checkering and see how it looks. Also use it lightly. Thank you for watching and commenting.
@@johnshandloading7907 Good suggestion John - thank you and happy holidays.
👍👍
Nice to hear from you. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you are doing well.
What cleaner john to use?
For general cleaning I use a mixture of ATF (transmission fluid) low odor mineral spirits and K1 kerosene. 1/3 of each mixed together in equal parts. It is a generic solvent/cleaner I have used for years. It DOES smell and it is poisonous, and flammable, but it works. It is essentially "Ed's Red" bore cleaner without acetone. I don't use any acetone near wood or finish. Even denatured alcohol can ruin wood finish. Be careful and use safety glasses and rubber gloves. Use anything in a well ventilated area. Good luck.
Je suis à la recherche d'un ressor tubulaire pour une carabine winchester modèle 94 22 merci d'avance
I am not sure where to get one, but know they are made and sold. You can probably make one if you can't find one. Search on line there may be instructions already.
Use a nickel instead of a screwdriver
