    As an Ajax fan, I can tell you that season was one of the best seasons of my life. We didn't even expect to qualify for the CL that season, let alone make the semifinals. It was the closest we've gotten to a Champions League final since the 90's. That also played a part in this, as due to the fact that we lost in the CL final of 1996 against Juventus, we couldn't afford to keep players. That especially hurt when it later came out that Juve were doping in that final. The Moura third goal hurt especially as many of the fans thought the Ajax of old generations was back, but unfortunately, the Ajax of the last decade showed instead.

    Ajax plays in the Dutch league, a small league nowadays but based on history the fifth biggest in Europe after Spain, Italy, Germany and England. And Ajax is based on history the 7th biggest club in Europe after Real Madrid, Barcelona, AC Milan, Liverpool, Bayern Munchen and Juventus.

  • @ajtron658
    @ajtron658 Před 3 lety +2

    Da bronco, when u go to an a way stadium in this case Tottenham went to the Ajax stadium and scored 3 goals. Every goal in the opponents stadium it counts as 1 1/2. So, Tottenham scored three in Ajax’s stadium which means that is 4 1/2 goals. (3x1 1/2 =4 1/2) and Ajax only scored 1 goal over in Tottenham stadium which means that is only 1 1/2 goal. They went to their own stadium and scored 2 which means add them together 3 1/2. Goals. 4 1/2 is better than 3 1/2. So that’s why Tottenham won.

  • @douglasdunbar8193
    @douglasdunbar8193 Před 3 lety

    I have just seen this video today and cannot be bothered to look through 441 comments to see if someone has already explained this, so here goes.
    In this tournament, teams play both at home and away. That is why Ajax plays in red and white (which are their official colors) at home, and play in an "uit shirt" (which is Dutch for away jersey) when playing away. That particular year their kit was black with a bit of gold. In a different year it will be different due to merchandising income. So when you see them play an opponent twice, it isn't because of a tie, it's because they always play home and away. If one team wins and ties, they proceed. If they win both games they proceed. If both teams have a win and a loss, or if there are two ties, then it depends on aggregate. This means that the team with the most goals proceeds. If, however, they have scored an equal number of goals, then goals scored at home give one "point" and goals scored away give two. So if you play 0-0 at home but 1-1 or 2-2 or 3-3 .... away then you proceed because of away goals. In they same way, if you win 1-0 away but lose 2-3 at home, then Tottenham proceed because of the rule on away goals.
    Explantation number 2:
    Extra time is determined by the referee. He decides how much time to add on due to time used during the game on "goal scoring celebrations" and mostly on time used on injured players being treated on the field. This is referred to as "stoppage time". This is a very subjective concept, which gives the ref a lot of power. Many of us would prefer a "real playing time" concept where the clock is stopped as they do in basketball. So in the event of injury treatment or other stoppages then the clock would stop, and the second that the time ran out the game would end, even if one team were building up an attack.
    Hope this helps

  • @himmatpanaich1119

    There is a rule that if both teams are drawing then what makes one team win is depending on which team has the most away goals. Then if they have the same amount of away goals then you go to extra time which is an additional thirty minutes and if they are still drawing the game goes to penalty shootouts.
