- Many people have developed some level of skepticism about mainstream news media. By not trusting the news your alternative is to conduct your own research on certain topics. However, no one is capable of researching every possible domain without somehow relying on someone else's interpretation of the issue at hand.
Why don't people trust the news or the government? Why should you not conduct your own research?

The irony of the "Free Thoughts" podcast spending 46 minutes telling people not to think for themselves. Do your own research.
Yeah..... This is similar to the sort of chicanery one finds in the so-called Manosphere. Anyone who subjects ideas which are labelled "Red Pill" to the same rigor and skepticism that we apply to all other religious dogma is labeled "Blue Pill". Think independently and question everything, as long as you're not questioning anything that comes out of 21 Studios, The Rational Male, or the societal rejects over at A Voice For Men

"Don't do your own research" cause you may misunderstand some publicly available information? Cause the authorities would never make mistakes, never lie to you and never spread loads of misinformation every day on the news.
Journalists have to do their own research all the time, that’s part of the game. Even if it’s just trust the experts, that just pushes back the question another level. Which experts?
