At 1:04 when she found her mother's arms is the most touching part of this entire movie. As a mother who have now lost my mother I know there is no safer place than the arms of the person who carried you and loved you before you were even born, so in a moment like this she couldn't have found a safer space. ❤

Whenever I’m asked about what Lea song is my favorite, it’s this one. It’s not hers but she owns this song vocally, I mean honestly what she does with it, the control, the breaths, every bit of it makes me smile, cry and then smile some more. There is NONE like Lea, she truly is one in a lifetime. “We’ve wandered many weary foot” gets me EVERY SINGLE TIME, the beautiful way she sings that part with such heart 😩 the woman is just ridiculously talented, not even sure if Lea even realizes the extent of her talent. She’s been blessed by the Lord with that voice, and I’m so glad I got to grow up with her til now and hopefully I get to see her shine as Fanny too ❤

AS a born and bred Scot I really like this version of this song and play this every New year alongside Eddie Reader 's version{aithough Lea's the lyrics are a bit anglicised rather than Robert Burns original lyrics and syne should be pronounced sign rather than zyne as Lea Michelle does in this version) . I would love to hear Ms Michelle interpret and other Burns love songs like My love is like a red red rose and Ae Fond Kiss as I belive she would absolutely kill both with a version similar to this film.

I have heard this song sung New Years Eve almost every year of my 66 years. For some reason, this version hits right at my heart strings and seems to touch them. I'm not sure anybody can screw it up, it's so primal and timeless and placeless. New Chinese immigrants in our neighborhood had their daughter --who later won a robotics competition-- play her accordion for us, and ALS was her first tune. I'm a bagpiper, I've heard a room full of immigrant Scots far from home singing it through the deep drone of my pipes as I played their song to them.
