- Nissan Patrol Walkaround / Rundown / Review
Hey all! In this video I take you guys through a walk-around/rundown/review of my 2012 Nissan GU Patrol. I'll be focussing on the modifications that I've done on the vehicle (there's a couple!).

Nice rig mate, a lot of clean DIY installs there. As for the clunking in the suspension, if it's happening specifically when offroading/articulating the suspension, I'd say it'd be your coils coming loose, as you have the shocks for a 4 inch lift. If this is the case, extending your bumpstops is probably the best route. However it may be something else entirely! Best of luck
Cheers Will! And thanks for the advise, I reckon that could definitely be at least part of the issue 🤙
Great build, I to love the clean look of the car. Hope to have the same care in the near future.
Thanks mate! They're great vehicles, definitely recommend!
Go the mighty Trol! Love it mate. I have an 05 but looking to get an engine swap done soon as the kettle blows. Are you apart of any 4x4 clubs in Perth or just go out with mates ?
cheers lad.
Thanks mate! Yeah nah usually out myself or with mates but would recommend clubs if you're after people to go out with 🤙
You also have an aftermarket welded intercooler. Clearly a few mods were on the car when you bought it. I enjoy you video’s mate keep them coming
Interesting mate, I thought it was stock! What’s the giveaway/sign that it’s aftermarket?
@@jasereynolds_ welded around the edges, not a pressed\pinched onto the ends (like your radiator) the pinched ones I am told develop leaks at theses seams after a while.
@@lovemud makes sense, thanks mate!
Hey mate
Cracking build. Do you get much scrub with the 35’s at 2” lift? Cheers
Thanks mate! Had to trim a bit of the front inner guard but nothing major, now has 0 scrub!
Awesome build mate! I love how clean your wheel set up is. I’m currently running 35/12.5/15 on a -44 rim and they stick out of the gaurds which I hate. What offset are yours ?
Thanks mate! Running -22

Did you have to extended the abs wire when you did extended brake lines? I got a 2013 Gu with a fabwitz FMIC, sits on the highway at about 300c now as opposed to 450, highly recommended
Hey mate! Nah I didn’t extend the abs line - I relocated the lines a bit to give it some room which has worked so far
And thanks for letting me know! I’m hitting 450 on the highways flat, and it’ll easily go up to 550+ up a highway hill or if I’m overtaking (not that I let it go that high). Very keen for my front mount to arrive!
@@jasereynolds_ great good to know :)
have you considered a tillix and dawes value kit, put them on my zd and egt went from hitting 600 pretty easily to rarely going over 450 - 500
Yeah I’ve heard that, might consider doing! Do you know if I need to get a tune with it as well?
@@jasereynolds_ Mate not sure if it helps or you may be all over it. Been researching and making calls for weeks so may as well share haha.
I run a tillix set up on the zd30 crd not tuned. Its runs sweet and safe around the stock 16 psi but upped it to 20/21 psi MAX for these turbos.
Drives so much nicer and can 100% notice the difference across the board.. However I did for the first time going up a hill get my first code of over boost from the stock ecu. I had to use the scangauge 2 to reset the code and it was all sweet. I heard there is a MAF wire mod but not a fan at all of playing with that with the tune as a better option.
So the best is a tillix and tune (With the tune it can fix the code it throws with the essential "offroad only" EGR blank haha). Especially since you're putting all the fun bits on it with fmic and exhaust etc. Safely get those AFR's at a nice level, lower EGTs, up the boost, crank up the HP and torque a little bit and bring in the torque way earlier. Crazy how good it is to safely tune these things without risking those pistons lol.
Getting more air into that beast will help a heap. Fabwitz seem to be the go for our CRD's for airboxes etc
Dynamic Diesel Performance in Perth here man is where I'll be going for the tune.
Check out Boosted Saga ZD30 Video to set up the tillix correctly. He also runs through a great tune that's similar to your set up.
Anyways got to love the ol Patrol's
Epic Patrol mate we are building ours up very similar! I have a GQ td42 swb too but need to watch the spending as it gets out of hand when you get excited hahah
Cheers
@@wilkesd2601 mate this is wicked, thanks for the response! I will definitely start looking into a Tillex kit, will also need to start doing research on how to install.
And awesome mate, I’m a big fan of GQ shorties! Good luck with your build!
Hey mate no you don’t need a tune with it but you will need to adjust you max boost and spool rate via needle valve to stop the limp mode. With a manual boost controller like hpd Dawes or tilex your Zd30 will respond smoother and faster to boost. I suggest you look into the patrol 4x4 forum there is generations of knowledge already there and smart and friendly bunch of people there ready to help.
@@killin4tugga93 cheers mate!
What kind of engine is in your patrol mate? Is it a ZD30/ 4 cylinder 3 litre?
Hey mate, yeah that’s right, the CRD ZD30
Do u scrub on the front wheels? Did u have to chop stuff?
Hey mate yeah had to shave a small portion off
How you find the patrol mate, thinking of getting a 16 model
Yeah love it mate definitely recommend!
hey man just curious are the wheels 33s or 35s?
Hey mate 315/75r16
Change your radius arms to the bolt style instead of pin. Get more travel
Thanks mate! Yeah to be fair I’m fairly happy with my flex/travel at the moment but will keep that one in mind
How many maxtrax can you fit in your holder
Hey mate she definitely fits 2 but maybe 3 not sure 🤙
What engine?
Hey mate, the mighty ZD30 crd
Go the Patrol! EGTs and spotties to radiator are unrelated . antenna 🤙😎🛻📹
Hey mate! I assumed that more airflow to the engine bay would assist in reducing EGTs, especially on the highways, you don’t think so?
@@jasereynolds_ nah it's all in your boost control . I don't currently have spotties on my bar but when I did it made no difference to cooling the radiator temps when rising from normal to the first line of H
It may help but f all. The high egts can come from low boost and overfuelling, all of which can be controlled with manual boost control
