  • Hey everyone, have you tried mochi donuts?? If not your in for a yummy treat.
    I’ve made with combo cake flour/sweet rice flour, all purpose flour/sweet rice flour/tapioca starch, all purpose and glutinous rice flour, and all purpose flour and sweet rice flour and they all gave a very dense donut texture not a chewy mochi texture I wanted. Glutinous rice flour and sweet rice flour yield the best result so check out my tutorial on how I made these tasty treats. Enjoy!!
    I used two glutinous rice flour (Erawan and Mochiko brand). They are both sweet rice flour/glutinous rice flour but are made from different rice (short and long grain) hence they are not exactly the same. Mochiko is slightly grainier, heavier, has more of a sweeter smell, and makes the dough slightly more sticky. You can still make this without it, just replace with the Erawan brand.
    Ingredients:
    Dough
    2 cups glutinous rice flour (Erawan elephant brand)
    2 TB sweet rice flour (Mochiko)
    1/3 cup sugar
    1 1/2 tsp baking powder
    1 egg
    2 TB vegetable oil
    2/3 cups warm milk (microwave 40 seconds)
    Churro sprinkles
    1/2 cup granulate sugar
    1 tsp ground cinnamon
    Chocolate drizzle
    1 cup milk chocolate chips
    Peanuts for extra toppings
    Makes 7 mochi donuts

    The milk is not enough to form a dough. I added more 2/3 of warm milk. It actually works. Thanks

      Hi, it taste different from regular donuts. It should be more chewy but should not be hard. Sorry yours didn’t turn out.

    • @ZoeyandVFam
      @ZoeyandVFam  Před rokem

      They are both sticky rice but one is long grain and other is short grain. Long grain seems to make the donut a little more crisp. The short grain is more sticky and has a more sweet smell, Mochiko. Mochiko is also more coarse than the Erawan brand.

    Hi if I want to make matcha glaze do you have the recipe for it? Thanks.

    • @ZoeyandVFam
      @ZoeyandVFam  Před rokem +2

      Hi, try this to see if you like it.
      1½ cup powdered sugar, sifted
      ½ teaspoon matcha powder
      2½-3 tablespoons milk or coconut milk

    • @ZoeyandVFam
      @ZoeyandVFam  Před rokem +1

      Combine powdered sugar, matcha powder, and 1.5 tablespoons of milk. Add more milk, a splash at a time just until it's smooth enough to glaze. It should be thick enough that when you swirl it, the swirl stays for a few seconds then collapses back into itself. If it's too thin, add a bit more powdered sugar.
