Just did this with my Arcade1up and Raspberry Pi and it worked. Didn't even have to mess with configuring controls!
This has to be the 4th or 5th one if your videos I've stumbled across trying to figure out something or other on the pi. You are hands down the most helpful source for getting stuff set up and your tone always makes it sound way less daunting! Definitely subscribed to catch more of your videos. Thanks for making them.
This is the most straightforward and easiest tutorial I have seen. Honestly, following along with this video while performing each step yields perfect results. Thanks ETA!!! Got it working on the first go on my retropie 3b.
Hey! Thank you from 2022 (almost 2023 in 2 days). Gonna get this set up on the Pi this weekend.
That is just awesome. I will actually set this up on my retropie. I do have a copy of the DVD and I even have a copy of Space Ace on a CD ROM. Reliving my childhood through these games. Spent so many quarters playing Dragon's Lair at the arcade I could probably have bought the machine itself. :) Great video!
i swear your the best. wife and i have had so much fun learning and setting up both our Pi3's. Just ordered the dragons lair 20th anniversary DVD and going to use your video. thanks for all the time you put on this man. !!!!!!
I think I have binge watched almost every video you have. lmao. I loved Dragons Lair. I could never get it working on my Hyperspin arcade, but I have it running on my Pi. thanks for all the help and keep the videos coming!
Great tutorial! I just played Dragon's Lair on my Retropie for the first time, thanks to this video. Game on!
Not under experimental in 4.7, Find it under opt (optional) package - it's still 106
Hello, from the other side of the Ocean. :-)
I have been trying to figure this out without any success, your video looks like it gave me the key...to success. Thank you for posting this, much appreciated.
For those needing help setting up a controller:
You are most accurate "Tutorial Man" that I've been found on YT.
Great guide! Thank you much for posting! I'm now able to play the most confounded (and at the time expensive) game at the arcade over and over with my RetroPie setup.
Your videos never fail to impress!! Worked first time!! Thank you so much ETA prime!!!!
Fantastic tutorials. I've got a dragon's lair II cabinet running DL on a PC. I'll be upgrading to the pi tonight! I subbed. When I do a video showing off the finished product I'll be sure to send people to your channel on the pi setup. Thanks!
The drawbridge scene is when the game has the US Revision E rom set. The other sets don't use the drawbridge scene. Revision F introduced the scenes closer to the order on the laserdisc so that it would prevent the player from having to skip around, saving wear and tear.
Super late to the game, but installed Dragons Lair I and II, and Space Ace using this tutorial, and all 3 are working flawlessly on the Rpi 3/Retropie set up. Followed the video 100% for Dragons Lair I, and then basically used the logic for Lair II and Space Ace. Only hiccup was on Lair 2, I got an error message. Read a few posts down, and this fixed it: You will also transfer over dl2-framefile text file but you must rename it, "lair2". Next will be to attempt to set up my SNES30 controller so I won't have to use my keyboard. Thanks for the great and clear tutorial. My favorite games hands down on Retropie.
Works great for Dragons Lair's 1. Different situation for DL2 and Space Ace.... Have you try to install those?
You won't see the drawbridge scene unless you configure Daphne to play a different rom version. I think it is called DLE or something. Then you can see the drawbridge scene. Note that this version of DL is harder too.
