I understand how you got to this idea. But to me this can only work if you're really motivated to push yourself.
True, nice profile picture by the way.
Couldn't agree more mate.
Just subbed, I'm going to be digging in to your training as I myself have come to the conclusion you so perfectly describe in this video. Howdy from Texas
Very good points sr. Greetings from brazil.
Definitely good points, but rep goals dont have to be arbitrary. I count reps because it helps me stay true to myself. I tried not logging my work for a few months and made very little progress (if any) because i didnt realize I was just doing the same weight and reps every time i went into the gym. I know not everyone will have that problem, though.
As for the rep ranges, they kind of are arbitrary, but as long as you're rotating the ranges, they can accelerate progress. If you do sets of 6-10 for six months and plateau, changing the range to 12-15 for a while will stimulate and recruite muscle fibers in a different way, which in theory can result in more hypertrophy than. Is it necessary? Nah, not for recreational lifting. But it can help spice up training and keep it from going stale
I clicked on this thinking oh man, here we go again, another CZcamsr trying to reinvent the wheel to sell some bullshit and get a following. But you actually made some really solid points, the Rippetoe part and the ending were hilarious! I personally like tracking reps during mass gaining phases to make sure I’m getting stronger but I really don’t love seeing performance drop during a cut so maybe it would do me well to just not think about that so much and not count, you have me convinced for the moment anyways.

How many sets are you doing per muscle per week? Thank you!
10-12 sets a week.
What are your pants called? Where did you get them from? They look so comfy i need a pair! thanks
Just some plaid pyjama bottoms my wife bought me for Christmas.
@@Bullseye_Strength haha sweet! Love the vibe of your channel bro, can't wait for future vids. subbed!
Is this your real voice? Hahaha. If so then badass.
I wish, nice username by the way. 👌
Are you in England?
Yes.
@@Bullseye_Strength I should have waited until the end of the video, as you ended up referencing that. The reason why I asked is because it seems that the space you are working out in has become iconic for home gyms in England. I guess it is a popular type of architecture there? (those dimensions, the brick, etc).
I get your point. But if you're an experienced matured lifter, i assume you wouldn't sacrifice technique and safety just to hit a PR. You have enough wisdom to prevent yourself from succumbing to your ego while still counting reps to make sure you're progressing. Without tracking I wouldn't know if my training and/or nutrition is working.
I dont count reps because I dont know how to count. simple as
Same. I'm screwed once I run out of fingers.
