Dremel vs. Amazon Tacklife - Hand Rotary Tools
Vložit
- čas přidán 27. 04. 2018
- When my Dremel started having multiple problems I needed to order a new one. As the Dremel wasn't the benchmark in quality I thought lets see if these Tacklife rotary tools are any good!

21:45 That is called a down-spiral cutting bit that is used for freehand cuts in wood and other materials. It works fantastic for cutting holes in drywall to fit receptacle and switch boxes.
🤦♂️I stopped watching after that comment. Lol.
Came here to say the same.
Thank you for making this review spicy! I've had this tool in my Amazon Wishlist for Tools for a while now and been putting off looking for reviews to buy or not buy. Your video was super informative with a very nice "everyone can use this you don't have to be a professional" can't of vibe to it. I like these types of reviews. Rock on
Great you can now open a dental clinic
My first Dremel 3000 - stopped working just after 1 year wifh very light usage. Second, (I had to buy, no replacement deal) Had switch issues right out of the box. Great tool but crappy quality. Appreciate this video. Giving TrackLife a go. Even if it performed as badly as Dremel, still a much better deal.
They make a quick change sanding drum that holds up quite well. The strange “drill” is for cutting holes in drywall.
Lol, I was looking at this on Amazon, went to look for a CZcams review; lo and behold, it's Spicy.
Your friendly neighborhood spicy! 😆
As a floor and cabinet installer the best oscillating tool was made by Fein and i bet if they make a rotary tool its mint.
Thanks for your rotary tool comparison. I have a Dremel model 245 I bought as a teenager in 1977 for $35 usd. It’s a single speed model with bearings that require a couple drops of oil every so often. Still running fine and have yet to replace the brushes. I recently picked up an Dremel model 2000 as an open box special for the same price I paid for the the 245 back in 77. Will see how it holds up.
Second hand record vice on eBay that's the way to go the difference between a solid secondhand vice and a new cheap vice is insane I dunno how much you're vice was but I got a fully refurbished record no 5 with a really well built metal work bench for 100 quid delivered by the bloke honestly saved eBay searches are a godsend for finding things like that
Use to watch your videos religiously when you had your green Sinnis Apache. I'm now directed back to you as our hobbies clash again!!!! Awesomeeeeeee lots of content for me to watch!
My dremel 3000 broke after a month, basically three uses. The bearing went out. I usually fix stuff but you can’t take the front bearing out of the armature without some serious tools and accuracy to put it back together. In case you think I abused it, I have a 20 year old dremel that still runs perfect. I’m glad this video is here, dremel is building things to fail now imo.
Did you forgot the editing?
Does the rotary cutting guide and cable snake from one connect to the other?
I'm trying to figure out if the stand alone Dremel cutting guide will fit in the tactlife tool?
Your vice must be in the same post as my bench grinder I’ve been waiting 2 months for with an ever moving ETA. I have 170w VonHaus rotary (£25), I only intend do small engravings in my photograph frames and so far it’s plenty for me. I will only ever use my flexi cable which I find much easier for a newbie part timer like myself. I've cut a metal birdbath down to have no metal welded where it had gone rusty and I sanded ground the metal down to make it blend. That’s my only metal experience except to reshape a plane blade, but that was just rounding the corners to make it my rough plane. I got the Track 230 piece too, the grinding stones certainly managed my bath and plane. The sharpening stone might be to sharpen the blunt drill bit.
I often print my photographs on to heavy canvas paper, I’m thinking of doing a massive panorama I shot of the Solway broken down into 5 x A3+ prints with a staggered horizon resin coated. That alone is reason to subscribe to see how you do.
A very interesting video, thank you.
My replacement never turned up no big surprise there lol
spicy110 Unfortunately not, I think there’s about 3 things I'm still waiting for replacements or refunds for. A router that the first bit I used couldn’t be undone to get it out (so they have my rebate bit as well), 35 sheets of A3+ photography paper that arrived creased, and two cans of oil that had no cap on so I got a parcel of very oily cardboard. All three are U.K. based. I ain’t holding my breath for 5he router and oil.
I've never had a rotary tool before and was sifting through catalogs and web sites when I came across this Tacklife one. At the moment I'm mostly just tearing down cheap particle board/hollow board furniture that I no longer need to make some new things. I got a circular saw for the big stuff, but I needed something for smaller work. Your comparison helped me make my choice to try the Tacklife one as it was less expensive than the Dremel and other brands. (I would have used your link for Amazon, but I'm in Japan.) I'm trying to make sure I do something with it every day to put it through the paces and see how well it holds up with daily use.
I have made a one year on video too 😁 still using it to this day.
@@spicy110 That's good to know! :)
10:20 ive never held a rotary like that, if you are doing that use the flexi part. I hold it like a screwdriver whilst not using the flexi.
I’ve recently had to do the winding fix on mine. The issue with the pin is if you don’t get the spring clip in exactly the right place for the hold button you get that issue. 3 attempts it took to get mine back together but works fine now. The salmon was slippery.
For tacklife being 23 dollars on amazon right now January 11th 2021 half the price of a Dremel, is totally worth it hell I can buy tacklife and 20 dollars to spend on accessories an still be under the dremel price.....can't beat that. And the tacklife seems as good as the overpriced tools if your wondering the drill bit it's a drywall bit that u thought was broken
The "scrap metal bit" looks like a rotary bit... you'd use it for cutting acrylic with the plastic depth rotary piece.... it actually works great as I use the Tacklife dremel for cutting thick acrylic for custom computer case mods... making motherboard backs and midplates. Good video... Tacklife is new to me however I have a cordless drill/screw driver etc.... it was cheap.. not really made for drilling holes but helps with assembling anything from IKEA lol.. thus far none of their products have broken on me.
Thanks for this, just took the Dremel out my basket and added the tacklife, saved £10 with a voucher as well as it being on offer. Halved the cost I was gonna pay
How does a back to back product test become liquid plastic analysis?
Thanks! I think you just sold me on the Tacklife with the flexible shaft against metal. I’m so SICK of all the stupid unboxings without actually showing us the strengths and limitations of the tools, compared with the big name tools. Thanks again!
There is a year on update
@@spicy110 Eh?
Was that flat ended drill bit intended as a router bit for use with that plastic spacer shroud?
Hmmmm now you say that you might be right. More investigation needed
Yes that bit looks like it's for sideways cutting holes if it was pointed it would tend to drill round holes self centering....Cealecanth. well you did say mention a Fish.👏👏👏👍👍👍
Yea, that looks like a single flute down cutting spiral bit for the 'router' attachment.
Yes! As the drill bits cut only straight ahead.
I purchased this to do some light PC case modification along with the dremel tungsten carbide cutting bit. czcams.com/users/postUgkxfPgcZ5_Cl0HDUKkMJAKde11YKQZVgMoR I had to remove a flange from my PC case that was preventing my monitor cable from fully seating in my GPU's HDMI connector, and after hacking away at this 2mm flange with a hand file I broke down and purchased this (at Home Depot).I have to say it's fantastic, and by far the best rotary tool I've used. No wobble or give from the shaft, plenty enough torque for light metal work, and decent battery life. The WC bit ate through the steel frame quite easily, and the chuck seemed to hold it firmly. This may seem obvious, but I especially appreciated the cordless nature of the tool since I was holding it at odd angles to ensure I didn't shower the inside of my PC with metal shavings.TL;DR, this is the one to get for light-medium duty work.
I have a tacklife and love it
The backwards bit is a drywall/plasterboard cutting bit
I watched it all! I've worked in a dental lab. & Sub-assembly at an archery shop. My Dremel doesn't have variable speed, so I've been somewhat frustrated with it. I just got a Tacklife like yours, and the big box of "toys" for it came today. Thanks for all your description and showing here. Have a great day!
The item at 21:33 is a spiral cutting bit... Use it in conjunction with the router base attachment and you can make some very clean scroll-saw type cuts in wood materials, and probably even light metals... Great wee tool...
I've got a TackLife and a box of accessories. I wish it was clear what each tool was for (and how to use it!) So far, it's working better than I expected, slicing through aluminium window frames to replace the draught-excluder tape, as well as other more normal stuff, and I'm very happy with it.
21:53 wood carving tool. Side use not drilling. Great vid. My cheap one kicks ass pretty much the same one you have there. But mine is red so it’s faster lol be safe bro
That's exactly WHY, I wanted the Red One Mate!!! 😭😅🤣
Is this video about dremel vs amazon or vice grips?
Yes that bit looks like it's for sideways cutting holes if it was pointed it would tend to drill round holes self centering....Cealecanth. well you did say mention a Fish.👏👏👏👍👍👍
Love the dremels! My 3000 broke after 4 or so years so bought a 4000 recently. Not really much difference between the two. I use them for everything, from bike building to prop making.
Cool Vid mate..not sure about the Rolf Harris impressions..Ha..Nice 1 Spicy..Kipper...!!
Can someone provide the cliffs notes for this video? He doesn't really summarize at the end
Is your Tackle still running ?
i use a dewalt angle die grinder at work, i normally use them with "roll lock" disks and are absolutely amazing, i do work with foamalux and not metal but the actual die grinder is awesome, i would imagine you would need quite a hefty air compressor to have any substantial use out of it though
cod ? :)
Hi I’ve just got a UTOOL am a crafter florists ect I’ve brought it because I want to do jewellery making can you help me by telling me how to use it safely and what I’ve tried finding a video on how to use it I just want to get going with it thanks 🙏 xx
Will this fit any workstation, like a dremel workstation, or press?
Excellent video. Tons of good info. I'm really surprised as to why there are so many dislikes.
The flat ended bit is for use as a router only on wood, plastics...not metal
Half an hour just for comparing 2 tools damn. I can't even stand up in half an hour in the morning.
Hey spicy. Just bough my first bike. A lexmoto zsb. Passed my CBT with your advise. Thanks for everything
Awesome congrats!!
The green 'stone' is polishing compound and the 'scrap metal drill bit' is actually a router bit.
No its a stone the compound is in the tubs. And yes to the other
I did indeed watch it all. You are very entertaining, sir! Also - salmon?
That confusing lookin drill bit was to push thing out the other end of a hole. I think
The "drill bit" that you didn't know about is an upcut bit, used for routing.
Glad you can make use of the jaws spicy keep up the videos and eel keep on watching.
😀👊
I would 100% watch you ramble on and do more powertool stuff especially dremel/tacklife
Useful comparison, but you don't half rabbit on! Sorry if rabbit is not a fish.
Make a Usain.. Dragon fly :P - Did you get the joke? I had a B&Q rotary i`ve had for years.. I never could afford even the basic Dremel.. Spicy i think Usain would look so Cod damn cool. ;)
The amazon link highlights a 120v tool. Is yours a 230v unit and what is the model number please. Thanks
its a spiral upcut router bit
that was the router bit Sir
I'll go hagfish, liking the mini dragonfly idea! Knock up some sort of bike mount to sell for them too, then you could make interchangeable mini sculptures to put on the mount.
Vid is a bit long. but im 99% of the way to subscribing for the sound effects alone. Earns a like for sure XD
Spicy does a BOLTR!!
thats funny i had to double take when i saw the thumbnail and title
Shambolic, unplanned, ill-prepared, much of the time the item being "demonstrated" wasn't even in shot. Focus required.
Nice review. Considering variables like exhaust ports, power, price and of course customer service, I expect Amazon to pretty much put Dremel out of business. Lol.
Dude nice to see you back in the metal works my brother in law birthday in tow weeks I need a clock for him around £40 CAN you do this thanks
Thanks so much, saved me hours ....
I had sum 'issues' when i bought my Tacklife Rotary 'system' and already it is KAPUT...DEAD! ...Had it for new months max .....I didnt use the flexishaft (not sure why lol......i actually found it ok without).........
So......I gets a new rotary tool only to find the flexishaft is useless as its missing the bit in the middle that attaches it to the tool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Came for the review, stayed for the chat, going hunting your channel for the dragonfly. If other vids are half as good eel be subscribing.
There is a playlist on my channel called metalworks most of my builds inc the dragonflys is there. I have done a big one (the one talked about here) and a small one.
spicy i remember you have an are compressor could be worth spending the money on an air powered dremmel just a thought
Did I really hear Spicy say to mention fish, or was it all just a bream?
Useful video. Much thanks!
Yh my Dremel broke too. Cant even be arsed to fix the fucker. Same one as yours.
just bought one of these........im a beginner so cant say much ....however, if u lose the black plastic round bit to hold it as a drill-annoying MUCH! This goes for the little washers etc....drop one and it gets lost,,,,,,no drill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! aaaaargh!!!!!!!!!!
How'd it hold up? I might be about to buy one
Still works but they do degrade faster. I also have other video on it after this I think.
@@spicy110 I repair Leatherman tools and when taking one apart I got some scratches on the tool. I'm honestly just getting it for small projects like taking out scratches, sanding and polishing. Nothing crazy. Thanks for the reply! I just got done watching your 2nd video when you made a repair to the tool. Thanks, man!
@@ksajak Yer it will work for that no issues!
That "stone" is used to reshape the grinding stones
20:51 is that a downcut end mill router bit to use with that 11:32 end collar, Neon Tetra.
Yep I have there is about 8 comments atm ☺
If it's Dremel, its designed to fail!
Why ask people to slip a fish name in the comments are we doing it just for the halibut.
Can't beat a chitty chatty spicy video with a curry and a stella. DO YOU LIKE SMOKED SALMON???
Do you know if this tacklife will work with the dremel drill press stand?
I would not advise that no.
@@spicy110 cause? will it fit or not? Why no advise? Do you work for Dremel? Your answer is ->NO
little stone is to re-shape the stones on the tool posts. wrong drill shape look up slot mill
Spicy you have everything you have because you worked your ass off for it and thats more than Coach Potato Pikeblenny Tv Trumpetfish can say..............Why did you have to spark my imagination.
Am I the only one who felt the entire video was just this chap rummaging?
You asked for a fish name. I'm not sure if that means anything other than the obvious. So, I'm just going to go with Bubble Puppy and say thank you for sharing.
Hahaha its a bit of an in joke with my channel but is nothing more than a fish name. 😄
I watched this while cleaning my dishes
That tune in your intro always reminds me of Rummelsnuff, what's the actual source out of curiosity?
That's not a drill bit you said was scrap metal it's for wood carving
Nice one Spicy! I was just about to order a Dremel, but nope, gone for a Tack thingy instead. So thanks for that. And by the way, you're a pollock 😉
How is it holding on?
@@carsnation5860
yes, how is it now?
Do the dremel attachments work on the tacklife
All the bits and attachments I have are interchangeable between the 2.
@@spicy110 thanks. Looks like this will be my next order. I have some special attachments for my Dremel Wich are the only reason I use it. Makes no sense to order this if I lose the use of my tools. Good video.
Flounder
The weird drill is a special glass/mirror drill. ........ Just pulling your plonker mate, but you never know, it might be if you look into it. lol. Space corps directive blah blah blah .... Kryten shut up!!!! RSM8, keep them all coming
Seems like it's a routing bit, to go with the accessory ☺
10:34 hand doesn't cover vents at all, great. 10:52 hand covers the vents, shitty...
Thought the nut and bolt was gonna b a crow.
Skip to 7:40 to get to the actual tool.
I cod make a fish pun here, but I'll pretend it's just a typo.
I'd have a little dragonfly made from bolts!
The dreamer sounds like your in the dentist getting your teeth cleaned
Estás comparando la copia del Dremel 4000.
Debieras compararlo con el Dremel 4000 no uno inferior.
Dremel sucks balls . I went through 6 in about 4 years . I spent nearly £400 on a Bosch and it is far better .
Well, yoi convinced me, i need a cheap one and i had a gift card too so i got one on the way for about 3$ lol. Ty
Its not a drill bit, its a reamer.
Koi Carp
i was curious to know if the collars of the two has the same thread measures.... thanks!
Covered in the comments, but yes they do.
The new metalworks idea was not a load of pollocks.
Glad the stuff is helpfully. I still have the vices if you want:) and herring😛
"What Is that"?
A routing bit.
