  • The Vertrex 150mm Max vibe suited with a 300H Lexa and nomad 6'2 pe2-4 is by far my favourite set up at the moment. 30lb Panderra and 100lb panderra leader is more than enough to get the job done.

    Those species of grouper/ coral trout are absolutely beautiful. I bet they taste great too. Thanks for showing them.
    I'm with you on bringing cobia in the boat, they're crazy like mahi mahi on the deck. But they're one of my favorites to catch and eat. We catch them in Florida quite a bit. Great fish! I couldn't let that one go. They're so good grilled I can't resist. But just one per day.

    Great vid as always mate! I watch pretty much all of your vids these days, I figured I should start commenting on them hahah! You've gotta love that sort of hand to hand combat on the trout and stuff, that cobia gave you some curry too. Keep up the good work mate! I'm going to try vibing for snapper, pearl perch and other reefies this winter on the Gold Coast, they should love it too. Tight lines

    Did you change out the treble hooks as supplied to the single hook? And do you add a small swivel to the ring to tie leader off to stop line twists?

    On the lexa do u lock drag and add thumb as needed or just below locked and give it more thumb? New to using baitcasters in general let alone chasing big fish

      because i use my reels so often i tend to only run enough drag to set hooks and then apply thumb after that so im not burning through my drag washers so quickly but what ever you're comfortable with

    G'day Mat how are you. I am going to Weipa next Monday I have a Shimano pe 3 Jewel rod and I am going to put an old shimano charter special on it do you think it will as a combo for jigging and maybe vibes. Don't have the money for any of the jigging reels. Hope to hear from you Bob.

      we have too much current in the areas we fish and at 60m deep the jig would be on too much of an angle. plus a lot of our bigger fish are caught off the mark

    I caught my first red since I moved to WA from the east coast...was on a vibe which I've never heard of. I guess it's a bit different here given it was in 12m not 60m+ like I'm used to. You ever managed one on a vibe? Only a matter of time if not!

      The 150 come with the singles in the configuration. All the other sizes come with the smaller trebles

      50/50 hey i missed a couple bites but then when you do hook the fish yu have way more strength and grab out of a single and will never bend them like you would trebles

      Ive hardly ever fouled them. If you get fouled up alot, it means you’re jigging it up too fast and it gets tangled.

      Yeah, I usually only foul them when I jig them too fast or don't maintain contact with the rod tip. Slack line isn't a good thing for them. These don't really foul up any more than other lures I run.

      slower rod actions and most important keeping a bit of tension on the drop which i even do with jigs so you can feel the bite on the drop

    How many grams those deep water vib have and how deep can they go ?

      I believe the 110s are 35gr the 130's are 65gr and the 150's are 85grams. I usually fish the 35gr down to 25-30m. The 130's from 30-60m and the 150's down to 80+m. I cast and retrieve (bottom bouncing) more than jigging but really it's all about your drift speed, currents etc. I try to go as light as I can in most cases and still maintain good contact with the bottom.

    On entire video only one fish was hooked on that lure. Rest of the fish noone can see which lure was used.
    Not saying here you are fake but video should show lure in the fish mouth when you pull out that lure from the water.
