This is the main theme from Art Bell's Coast To Coast show. That's where I first heard this theme in 1992. Pure electronic music awesomeness from the 70's!!!
You are so right man! I saw the film on TV in the 90s and the music spoke to my deepest innards - if that's not too gross a thing to say! - and I asked for the soundtrack for Christmas!
For whomever doesn't understand the context of this song and just knows it from Coast To Coast AM, the song is from a monumental (and pretty damned violent) movie about a man who is a drug courier (set up or willfully, I've never watched the entire film, it's pretty disturbing in places) and thrown into a Turkish prison to essentially rot. It's a sadistic place, and his own government (US) declines to intervene or hear him out. Finally, he manages a brutal escape (he has to do some sick things to a guard to do it) and runs for the border. This is not a cakewalk. Chase is a theme for his run. He did make it (SPOILER) and this is a true story, a very cautionary tale for people as the 1980s were around the corner that you simply did not fuck around with drugs in the Middle East. Now you can go back to your Art Bell/George Noory memories and pro wrestling.
This is not just a story about a prison escape. Its an allegory about escaping some very unpleasant/threatening predicament in this life ...and freedom 🔔
From a magical time when electronic musicians had to actually PLAY synthesizers and keyboards instead of just having a laptop and software do everything for them. Awesome as the day the movie came out. Thanks for the upload !

Giorgio Moroder fue el precursor de la música electrónica y su tema de la película EXPRESO DE MEDIANOCHE sin duda el mejor lejos. Tengo 54 y me gusta escuchar buena música.

Great music and very catchy. Loved it then and now. The movie was superb. It was so raw and realistic. Not like to today with 200 Cgi Explosions and CGI action sequences but no soul heart or story. That's why this is a classic loved decades later and maybe forever. Todays music and films will be forgotten soon after being released.
reticulan5 You obviously haven't seen much then. Not everything since this movie and today is about CGI. And just to be clear this was a good movie but nothing extraordinary. Most of the movie was grossly exaggerated and some parts were flat out false. Like the scene where he yelled at the judges and how he got out of the jail. This movies was mostly a fairy tale by a coked out Oliver Stone. The best thing about this movie was the soundtrack, which in my opinion was a masterpiece. There is always one person who gets all nostalgic and makes some sort of ridiculous statement and it looks like I found him.
