Kebu's all-analog synth cover of Giorgio Moroder's The Chase, performed live at the Sthlm Italo Disco Party 2015 at Nalen, Stockholm, 16.5.2015.
Thanks to Jean-Paul Meulendijks, Alexander Guskov, Heidi Väisänen, Tuulikki Väisänen, and Renaud Guérin for operating the cameras!
The first minute is my own composition, "Prelude to Chase", that I composed as an intro to Chase. My arrangement of Chase is a mixture of both the original version and JAIA's Express Remix - with a few of my own additions thrown in.
The song was performed using only analog synthesizers, either played live or sequenced. The performance was recorded directly from the mixer to a stereo track and later mixed together with the ambience from the room. A few mistakes have been cut out and replaced with the audio from a rehearsal take.
Equipment used in this song: Logan String Melody II; MXR EVH117 flanger; Roland TR-808, Juno 60, Alpha Juno 1&2; Korg Polysix, Poly 61, Mono/Poly, Micro-preset M500; Moog Source; DSI Tetra; Jomox AirBase99; Touched-by-sound DRM1; Oberheim Matrix 1000; Marion Prosynth; Akai MPC2500 (only for MIDI sequencing), M-Audio Trigger Finger; Yamaha 01v96; Lexicon MPX500 & MPX550, as well as a midi patchbay and additional preamps for my mixer.

What makes this all the more impressive is he's PLAYING it and mixing and all that at the same time. He's not simply taking pre recorded tracks and mixing. He's doing all of the work, doing it flawlessly, and having a blast doing it. Super impressive!
This! And the magic of midi to control all this madness. Must have taken ages to programm all of that.
Lot of things are controlled by MIDI otherwise it would be impossible. But it is all well done and gives him the possibility to really play the best parts. It is a technical performance to setup a mix of MIDI and CV/Gate synths and make them work together in live.
I’m glad that you notice, not everyone see that.
@@MetaIsland ah cv/gate I remember that bad boy 😉
He's not playing music. He's feeling it.
This man replaces an entire orchestra, the entire technical staff and also creates a masterpiece, all at the same time. Insane.
Giorgio⚡️Moroder
I will be able to listen to this masterpiece millions of times

Work of a genius, interpreted by another genius! Why did I discover you only now? Never too late.
Same here …I was thinking Giorgio has only one song the one was in daft punk album what a gem I just find ..I am crying of joy

@@user-dr1fv9pn5l Cuando sepas todas las producciones electrónicas de Moroder de los 70's te va dar un infarto...por el momento solo te doy las de 1977 (que inician el EDM y los 2 géneros electrónicos matrices y primarios de esta escena electrónica el HI-NRG y Synthpop): Working To The Midnight Shift, Queen For A Day, Now I Need You, I Feel Love y el segundo álbum Electrónico de Moroder "From Here To The Eternity".
Because you are prepared now
Ok? But I agree with my first like 👍…
April 26, 2020 Giorgio Moroder will turn 80 years old. May God grant him health!
So he was ...60 when he composed this??? Damn that's a rockin old man!
What? This track is much older, from ' 77 if I remember it right, from Midnight Express soundtrack.

For those who dont know, it's from the soundtrack for the Movie "Midnight Express" 1978
Or the game Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories on Flashback FM
Art Bell also had it as the theme tune on his coast to coast show IIRC.
It was also the ring theme of the wrestling tag team The Midnight Express.
Eres un genio.

This may sound odd but... I think this isn't a job to him. all due respect to parties involved.

I came for the Giorgio, I stayed for the Kebu. Very good performance.

Rip art. Gone but you'll always be a legend.
Yeah that's what I was going to say".... and the Great American Southwest... I bid you all...." Love Art Bell. This music being a live cover is excellent work!
Art Bell is definitely traveling through time now. What a LEGEND!!!🚀🚀🚀🚀🛸🛸🛸🛸🛰🛰🛰
fabrizio Art Bell was the host of a late night radio talk show called Coast to Coast AM. It was about the paranormal, aliens, ghosts, conspiracy theories, that kind of thing. This song was the theme song he used for the show. Art Bell had a wonderfully soothing voice, quick humor, kind, very lovable person. "From the high desert and the great American southwest" was his tagline to introduce the show. Kebu is the performer in this video.
Saw Midnight Express in the theater in 1978 , remains some of my top favorites of all time. Giorgio , simply put , way ahead of his time. Genius. This fellow here is a killer on the Keys.
One of the best I have ever seen.
Masterpiece to say the least.
2 years later I still can't get over how amazing that intro melody is. It is synth perfection. The whole thing is amazing but that intro elevates it to legendary.
Agreed. I'd love to hear the intro melody turned into a fully fledged piece of its own.
Genialissime tout simplement !!!

The original was ground breaking, and this is just as ground breaking, I listen to both over and over and over, so perfect💃🕺
Please make the intro into a full song. It’s one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard in my life.
It's not an intro, it's the full track for a chase scene in a movie. It mighty have been Midnight Express.
@@johndododoe1411 The intro he speaks of is the melody before the recognizable Chase rhythm... that is not part of Chase. And yes, the track itself is from Midnight Express and also made famous by Coast To Coast AM / Art Bell.

The intro melody is so mind-blowingly good. I want a whole song of that.
I can't stop watching this performance over and over again. It's simply excellent in every way possible.
I have to be honest with you at 55 years old I live in Thailand and I listen to your music for years I never knew that I was so in love with the synthesizer it would be a dream one day to come visit you and see you play in person that would be a dream of mine! There are no words to describe how the Chase is elevated to such incredible heights in this version - Bravo ! Sensational ! Kebu for PRESIDENT !!!
Dear Giorgi Seviliyo, one of the few deities of music, who brought her to today's level, is unforgettable.
