I remember the never ending search as a 14 year old girl in 1969 to find Trevira suits in a colour non of my mates already had and tights with the patterns going up the sides of the legs in a pattern/colour combo no-one else had .I didnt get my first Dm's until my 20's because they didn't make them small enough then for my tiny feet but I had a pair of black loafers shown in the film with SEGS bashed into the soles so they made a noise/sparks as I walked down the street ! A Brutus shirt and Gingham perfume completed the outfit !

At school in the late 70s and early 80s, I had my loafers, my RAF surplus canvas school bag with Madness, Specials and Bad Manners logos drawn on it in marker and when the Walkman came out, journeys on the school bus became bearable listening to bootleg Madness and Specials tapes my mates and I shared. Now in my 50s, I remember those great days with fondness.

@@fatboydon I love the DMs. My daughter has started wearing the boots skin tight Levis and pinched a couple of pairs of my braces.
The price they are these days isn't an issue, not when DMs last for years literally

@@justintime1307 I've got the oxbloods as well. A bit stiff at first around the ankles, but after a month or so once the leather has softened up they are smashing boots, ideal for UK winter. Then in the spring and summer some of their Gibsons or loafers.

There are a lot of similarities in cult groups; most notably their fashion, music preference, social status, and each is iconic. Each, eaking out a futuristic stance and moving their "brand" forward. All much easier today, which what makes looking at the images of yesteryear in the papers and magazines so interesting. Skin fashion was my era, still love it and reggae music is a key part of my life!
