If your weed eater is hard to start or stops running, and if you have to choke it to keep it running this could be the answer to a quick fix. Subscribe: / @lonniejohnson1
I was one minute away from throwing my weed-eater in the garbage, when I came to my senses and said "Google". I found your video and five minutes later, my trimmer runs like a champ! Thank you!
For the last 18 months I've not let the lawn crew edge or use a weed eater in my back yard. czcams.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG I didn't like the fact that they just kept cutting the edge of the lawn further and further from the rock lining the flower beds and leaving bare ground. And the grass was trimmed or scalped several feet around trees, etc. It was a constant battle with them so I told them to just mow and no trimming. I have Zoysia grass so it grows pretty slow. Obviously after a while it could use some trimming. I'm in my 80's so I can't do much of it myself. Finally I decided that if I could find a lightweight battery powered trimmer I might be able to do some light trimming. I decided to buy the LST201 20V trimmer. And it works great for my needs. I have back yard with about 150' of flower beds and several trees to be trimmed. I can lightly trim the whole yard with a single charge! The grass I trimmed was only a few inches high but the trimmer was more powerful than I expected.

A yr later & your video is still rescuing folks. Actually, I did purchase a new trimmer, having given up on fixing mines. I replaced the fuel filter, fuel lines, primer bulb, & the spark plug. None of those did the trick. So before i opened the box to my new trimmer, i tried once more to find a solution on CZcams. Sure enough I ran across your video. I followed your instructions, blew out the screen & dog-gone it, it fixed my problem. So now i can return the new trimmer. Thank you kindly.
i took the carb off my craftsman 32cc 4 stroke weed eater and did what the video said to do.it was real easy, and now it runs just like the day i bought it. thank you for posting the video. made my whole day.
This was a lot of help. I call a local repair shop and was told it would be cheaper to buy a new . Watched this video and took my feather lite poulan weed trimmer carburetor apart cleaned it replaced one of the fuel lines put it back together and runs like new. THANKS
Lonnie, I was literally minutes away from going to the store and replacing my Craftsman blower until I came across your great video. I thought I'd give it a try and it worked like a charm. Thanks
Great video. I started simple. Took the air filter cover off and cleaned the filter .Then only undid the two screws for the primer bulb without disconnecting the gas lines. Saw the dirty screen filter and used a q-tip to absorb the excess gas which took 99% of the dirt particles off then used compressed air to remove the rest. Put it back together and it runs like new. You gotta love CZcams
I'll be.. i took the carb body apart. All but the primer side. Blew it out real good. No start. Or wouldn't stay running. Did what you showed here took the primer bulb assembly off and blew out the screen and i went ahead and blew all the little holes in the carb body that were exposed. Viola!! Runs like a champ. Thanks!
Incredible! Just did the fuel lines, replaced the plug and could not figure out why it wouldn't start/run or prime well. Did exactly as you suggested and it runs like new! This blower is 10 years old.
OK, so this video rocks. I noticed that this unit is probably built by Weed Eater and branded for Sears. Its identical. My Weed Eater just stopped working. I noticed that the fuel filter was bouncing around in the tank. So, I replaced all the fuel lines, added a new filter, would not start... Found this vid, pulled out the carb, cleared the screen, put it back together.. Bang, one pull and it was flying.. Cost me $20 for a filter and some fuel line. Thanks dude..I really appreciate it.
2019, Fix still works. Brand new weedeater, Ryobi, used 1 season, got it out for it's second season and just died during use, halfway through the first weedeating of the season. Checked the screen, cleaned, like brand new again, like it is. THANK YOU!
Mr. Johnson, Thank you so much for this video. I was ready to go out and purchase a new trimmer. I followed your easy instructions and low and behold! My trimmer is running like a champ. Thanks again sir.
Thank you so much for showing this, my craftsman weed trimmer has a different overall carb system, yet everything still applied from this video. I went from a stalled and not starting trimmer to one that now runs full throttle. Air compressor was a must, and I also blew out the fuel line connections to the carb as well.

Awesome video. This just saved me buying a new weed eater and only took about 5 minutes. Also I did not have an air compressor, but i just used a Q-tip to clean the screen and it worked great. Thanks!!!
My high quality Echo 225 got sick, it would start, stop, run, stop, it was driving me crazy! The videos showing how to rebuild the carb were for watch makers, not regular mechanics like me. I knew it was the carb, and I tried ALL my cleaning tricks, changed the in tank filter (after spraying it repeatedly, and sucking and spitting acetone) and the local shop wanted $85 for a new carb. Went instead to Amazon, and bought a carb from a Chinese company. On the Echo, you take off the air cleaner, then remove two "Torx" bolts, and stick on the new carb. That's it! Chinese copy was $14 bucks, and came with extra fuel line, filters, and two extra fuel priming bulbs. Big time and money saver, frankly I was sorta amazed.
Thank you for the video. I had assumed the problem was much more complicated, like clogged jets or small passages. When I took the cover off, I immediately saw the clogged screen, and a little lacquer thinner on a brush cleaned it quickly. Now the weed trimmer is running like new again.
Your fix worked for my Weedwacker! Removing the fuel tubes, air filter, and carburetor was easy, and then cleaning the carb's filter did the trick! Thanks so much for your how-to.
You were 100% correct. I removed dirt from the screen of my Homelite 26cc engine. Leaf blower started immediately. Thanks. You saved me time and money!
Your video helped me solve the problem. I was able to clean the screen with a q-tip (like one of the commenters below) and without disconnecting the fuel lines. Thank you.
Thank you for the video. I have a TB90BC that I have owned for years. It ran great for the first couple of years, but then would only run at half choke. I replaced all the fuel lines, the filter, and disassembled the carb and cleaned it ,but, to no avail. I found your video yesterday and your fix worked like a charm. Runs great now, thanks.
Good tip about the sediment screen. Another VERY common issue is the fuel lines on these 2 cy engines become brittle and shrink over time, causing the carb to suck air and lean out -- especially on newer models where the lines are held in the tank by a friction fit. Those engineers are real master minds!! My 30-year old Ryan (forerunner to Ryobi) has no emissions crap, a single line that attaches to the tank with a barb fitting and hose clamp, and runs all day like a Swiss watch. Also, all small engine problems are made 10 times worse with ethanol -- run pure gas if you can get it. Thanks again for a good vid.
Lonnie, I just did this to my Ryobi Weed Eater and it worked great. As soon as I saw the bulb fill up where before it would not, I knew it would work. thanks for posting!!
This is a great tip and should anyone find themselves not quite fixed yet after trying this, order the carb rebuild kit for your machine. The H and L screws should be your absolute last resort as so many other things could be the problem and usually are. Crud builds easily within the rubber gaskets and that can cause a crazy amount of issues for these 2 strokes. Don't forget to perform the simple tune up procedures every season. The fuel filters are very easy to replace and should be often. Good luck! You can do it!
Worked perfectly for me! Thanks for showing. I had 2 problems. Dirty carb and broken fuel line. 2 simple fixes thanks to youtube!!! Engine purrs, no problems at all! Thanks for the video!
i used to have that same weed eater, now i have a echo that is starting to get just a little bit harder to crank then when it was new,and i have another craftsman that runs then dies,so i will be checking them out.thanks so much my brother from another mother.and to think i was enrolled in a class at school to fix small engines and skipped 30 days i would have never got caught but i got written up in another class and he said lets look at your record, and bam haha he was like where have you been,i was like dude its 6th period I've been stoned all day and just can't hang one more class haha.what a dumb ass i was huh haha but had fun.thanks for the video bro.
I wanted to take time to say thank you. I'm gonna try this in hopes it works but even if it doesn't I wanted to say thanks. This was straight forward and to the point. Many help videos here I've ran into are just too out in left field with info..so thx for the to the point style.
Thank you so much. Followed another video to replace my crack fuel lines, but still ran poorly. Followed yours and had my fuel lines on backwards and my filter was dirty as heck. Now weed eater runs better than when it was new. I never comment on videos, but yours was great. This is the whole purpose of youtube.
Have now subbed to your channel. The carb I am working on is the Walbro WA-226. Fitted a new primer bulb (old one was in bits), cleaned the fuel filter, removed all the bad fuel residues etc, fitted a new in tank filter (old one was solid with old fuel). Engine now fired up, but only for a second or two on full choke. Then, removed carb again. Next, went for the metering plate removal you suggested. Sure enough, more bad fuel and dirt, rust, etc. cleaned it all out, (metering pin was sticking) and checked the diaphragm - no holes, but it seemed a bit perished and stiff. Put it back on the engine after re-assembly. Now runs on 1/2 choke for up to a minute. So, progress! Have ordered the Walbro K20-WAT repair kit - it's a 20 year old machine - and well needed. My Question: You put the thin fuel line to the carb and the thick line to the bulb on your machine. But on my machine, the thick line has the tank filter and goes to the carb, the thin line connected to the bulb is the return back to the tank. Is this normal?
Something you just said finally registered in my coconut: "If you have to keep choking it to keep it running..." That's it! The air supply is fine as I've checked my air filter and even removed it temporarily but if the fuel supply is poor the engine will run lean and need to be choked to get the proper air/fuel ratio. Duh! I feel so dumb. I should have thought of that. Oh well, live and learn. THANK YOU for this video. I am excited to fix my carb, THANKS TO YOU!
Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU!!! My trimmer would not start, I looked at a few other videos, i thought I't try this and it worked perfectly! You saved me a lot of time and money!
Weed Eater brand leaf blower was doing exactly as described in the video. Took the carburetor off and sure enough, the screen was packed full of junk. Blew it out with some carb cleaner, put it back together, fires right up and runs like it did when new. Go after the weed whacker next, it's doing the same thing.
HI, nice vid. My personal preference is to dismantle using a small cordless drill, but I still reassemble with hand tools as to not damage the fastener -- cross thread, damage aluminum body, etc. Just my pref. thanks for vid!
Thank you. This resolve the issue with my blower. Unfortunately, it did not for my weed eater. There must be something else wrong with it. It starts with no issues. But when you press the throttle, it turns off. Thank you for posting this.
Jun Sarceno carb may need adjusting. Find tool and adjust the right screw (high throttle)...probably to the left (rich = more fuel). A right turn to make fuel leaner could work too...depends where it currently is set at. DonyBoy has a great video on this...check out his channel
Pretty good video. You explain things - don't just play stupid music and point at things while giving the silent treatment - knew you were on the right track when I saw you using a power tool to take out 2 dinky screws!
Pro Tip: You do NOTneed to remove the carb from the weed wacker (at least not the style in the video). You can simply remove the two screws from the primer bulb area and pop it off to clean the screen. You don't even have to remove the fuel lines.
You talk about a pro tip. I give and show the info for people with little or no experience to fix a problem by taking the carb off the motor so they don't lose small parts. A skilled person can do what u are saying. Thanks for your input.
***** No need to take offense. Your video is very good for anyone that needs or wants to remove the carb. Removing the two screws from the primer bulb area to clean the screen is the fastest and easiest way to do it. It takes more skill and time to remove the carb. Plus there is actually less of a chance to lose small parts since you're only removing two screws and you're not removing the gas lines at all. So I really don't understand your logic. In fact, I do believe you are just aggressively defending your video without giving my advice much thought. Your video IS very helpful and well explained. I was just simply trying to save people some time if they only want to check the screen quickly.
I found a Ryobi 430 on the curb and took it home, looked up the manual and did all the trouble shooting recommended. The thing still wouldn't rev high enough to be effective. THE THING I HAVEN'T HEARD ANYONE DISCUSS is the THROTTLE CABLE TENSION. I moved the trigger assembly down (Cable is fixed length) and that solved the problems. It runs like a top now.
This worked great on my 3-year old Murray/MTD. I had adjusted the carb last year due to poor performance (had to use special tool due to the pacman-shaped adjustment screw heads). Ran great last year after adjustment, and for the first couple of months this year, but then recently it just wouldn't idle/stay running, no matter what I did. Cleaned the screen today and gave the carb a healthy dose of Seafoam, and after a good deal of smoking (Seafoam), it's running perfectly again. Thanks very much for this tip.
You accidentatly said by a rebuild kit instead of a new Weedeater, great video thanks my wife will let me sleep in the house tonight, I know my dog will be happy.
You can also clean that little screen without removing the entire carburetor from the weedeater by just removing them 2 screws on the bulb and moving the throttle cable forward. I did.
If you have fuel, spark and air and will not even sputter I found fix. Check compression. Mine was 50 psi so had stuck piston ring. Pour automatic transmission fluid and mineral spirits in spark plug hole. Let soak for 24 hours to unstick ring.
Thanks! I was just about ready to junk my 2 year old weed eater. Now it performs like new. Had a small amount of sediment on that screen and wouldn't run unless choked.
Thank you sir, my Echo weed eater is running sluggish and I gotta run it on half choke most of the time. I'm gonna do what you just did. Great video, and straight to the point. Thanks again!!!
if you're in a push for time, and it's not leaking massive gas, if it'll run a little and stall or only with the choke on, take the air cleaner off, start it and at it's highest idle or rev, intermittently block the intake with the palm of your hand, it gives no where for the vacuum to go. and alot of time it'll suck whatever is plugged in the fuel delivery. and wham, you're back running.
Thanks for the info! I'd been messing with it for an hour before deciding to seek help online. After watching your video, took it apart for the last time, blew out the crud and it popped right off. Ran right the rest of the day and today as well. Thank you! Now on to tackle the JD lawn tractor...
Hi Lonnie, I just subscribed. As A guy who works on these things all the time, anything smaller than a chainsaw gets the muffler pulled first and a start up. 50% of the time the problem goes away. Chainsaws generally run wide open throttle where as weedwackers spend more than 1\2 their time at low speeds or idle. Carbon build up will restrict the flow and be as you described in the symptoms . THEN I'll go to the carb. That's just me but I thought I would share. Chainsaws I go straight to the carb for poor power. ZD
Thanks very much for the video,My carb is a little different but the screen was dirty so gas was not getting into the carb. Working like a charm now.I was really considering buying another so thanks for saving me some time and money:)
Had the same problem. It starts while on full choke. Then stops. Won't start again. I cleaned the carborator. It was also dirty. So I thought it has to start now. Nothing changed. Same issue. Sometimes it starts on full choke but then it stops. I have tried most of the things seen on youtube. Nothing solved the problem. Desperate as I was I thought.. WTH. So I took of the choke cap and tried to start it without the cap. You know what. IT FIXED THE PROBLEM! After cutting my yard I put the cap back on to make sure that's the problem. Tried to started with the caps. Doesn't start. Took off the cap. It starts. Can't explain it but it solved it. :)
Its probably running to rich and you can adjust the L screw on the carb the exact opposite way I described before. Good luck. If you cant figure out which screw is which typically the L is further out and the H is not as far out. So easy way to remember High is low and low is High. Whatever you do don't adjust the H screw without knowing the correct Max RPMS WOT and connecting the correct tachometer. You probably don't have one of these by the way and the
Thanks a bunch for your video I had no idea where to start or how to fix it watching this video explain everything to me it was just dirty i just blew it with my air nozzle now works perfect . Thx again
My nearly new weedeater wouldn't advance past idle without dieing. I watched some of these videos and couldn't justify the work for a $70 weedwacker. Found an old can of marvel mystery oil, remover the air filter and flooded the carb with it. Let it set for several hours. After 10 or so pulls it cranked and after the mmo burned off it runs like new.
this model of motor is also sold by Featherlite, if you put this model of motor on a bicycle, it will overheat because of the small fins, but other models like Ryobi and Homelite will run for days
you're welcome :) but if you come across one of these weedeaters, you can still use the carb on another weedeater as well as the fuel tank. In fact, that type of tank has the fuel lines coming out of the tank on the same side that also has the fuel cap, and you can mount this tank up on end so you can put more fuel in it than normal. The tank has two tabs with holes that you can put bolts through to mount it. if you are interested in motorizing a little push scooter for only going a short distance like up and down the alley with then the craftsman/featherlite motor is fine for use, but for anything that you want to use long distance the other motors will work better. :)
Ethanol is bad on fuel lines. It eats the hoses. If the primer don't prime, it could be that the line in the tank has broke off and that's why it won't prime. Make sure about where the hoses go. If you mix them up, it won't prime. If the engine has been sitting, replace the carburetor because it has gum buildup in it. The top gasket is the diaphragm and includes the pump. It dries out and causes hard starting and no start. Adjust the mixture with the right tool.
Very well explained how to video, going have to try this on my 9 year old bolens bought at Lowes dont want to spend 110$ on a new one hopefully it works.
THANK YOU!!! This worked on my Craftsman weed trimmer...I assume it will work on most small engine carbs as it did for my blower/vac as well. I didn't have much dirt (looked like oily dirt) in that filter, only about 1/3 of the small screen covered. That will do it I guess. Either way, it worked...THANKS AGAIN!
Awesome! Followed your vid, cleaned the screen, took some pulls and some aggressive priming but....... BAM!!! IT'S A LIVE!!! Thank you so much for the help.
In my case, butterfly stuck ( wouldn't move ),clogged fuel passage (blow the line but no air moving) and cracked primer bulb. It's been sitting in garage over a decade. I need to replace carburetor. Thanks to Amazon for selling rebuilding kits at $10 to $30 depends manufactures and needed parts.
Hey lonnie nice video. It has a good clarity, sound, and the camera is not bouncing all over the place like most videos including any I have tried making.
Or go to e-bay and buy a new carb for around 10 bucks. In fact, go there now, buy one, and have it ready for when yours fails. As cheap as a rebuild kit. No springs to lose. New bulb comes with it. If you had to buy a bulb, it is half the price of a new carb.
A little background just so others may know... I have a troybilt, model TB70SS. It was terribly hard to crank. When it would start, it shut off when I throttled. I knew something wasn't right when gas wld not flow into the primer bulb when priming it. After finally cleaning the screen via the video instructions, the gas flowed freely again thru the fuel lines and my troybilt started with the first pull.
keep noted, if you have to adjust the high range screw to get it to run at top RPM then more than likely your crank seal is sucking in air. USE NON ETHANOL GAS IF AVAILABLE ethanol brittle's rubber such as fuel lines and most importantly the diaphragms in the carb.
Good video. I'v dealt with The Same Exact problem AND Solution in recent experiences. 1 Thing I Feel the Need To mention ~ In MY Opinion ~ It IS a BAD Idea to try & Start THOSE Carborator Screws With a Cordless Screwdriver = " I " A L W A Y S Use a Hand Held Screw Driver To start ANY screws on a weedeater. Using a power tool Trying to start screws IS a Dam Good Way To Strip the Threads Out Of . . . Anything your working on
On an Assembly line all the screws are made to be dropped in and fastened with an electric screw driver. The nuts are made to go on with the right tool you just have to be careful with some them if your not use to it. Thanks
Your description is not as clear as it could be: "This video shows how to correct a sluggish or runs only on choke problem that occurs if your fuel filter in the tank becomes disconnected from the fuel line in the tank and reconnecting the fuel filter to the fuel line doesn't solve the problem." I had the same problem with a McCollough chain saw with the same carbureator and air filter setup. Good video!
I found a guy on eBay that sells new carbs from China they are all made there the same company for all these 2 cycle engines. His prices are $9-$16 with free shipping. He also sells the mixture tool I think was 6 dollars. No need to rebuild if your gaskets are messed up like mine because I had cleaned mine out many times this guy sells whole carbs that are ready to bolt on.
***** Here is the link to the guy I bought it from www.ebay.com/itm/New-308054013-308054012-Homelite-Ryobi-Craftsman-Trimmer-Blower-Carburetor-Carb-/171246529984?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27df16adc0
Lonnie you did a great job. I finally decided to try to fix my poor running blower and trimmer myself. Will try to meet the challenge! Great job with the video. Good camera work. Wonder if I could install a small inline filter between the tank and the carb? Or would that impede fuel flow too much?
I've got two Honda 4 stroke trimmers. Never a prob and 18 years old. Only thing I've replace besides line is the primer bulbs and that's normal. Get what you pay for. Should have shown how it wouldn't take throttle and was sluggish, 9before you cleaned the carb. Also blowing it out with compressed air and your thumb in place so you don't loose spring isn't a good idea. It's a safety thing if you do it wrong and I've seen death from incorrect use of compressed air.

Your welcome and thanks for the tip.
I have the same Black n Decker driver...15 yrs old and still going strong...thx for vid
Your welcome. Very good driver and I got the complete set
Lonnie, I just did this to my Ryobi Weed Eater and it worked great. As soon as I saw the bulb fill up where before it would not, I knew it would work. thanks for posting!!
Perfect instructions. Got the weedeater going. A true expert.
Thanks!
Perfect--- fixed my problem, saved my weedeater from the trash can. Runs like new!
Cool!
Thanks Lonnie, you were right on the money...easy and cheap fix and didn't have to buy another carb...saved me 14 buxs
Your welcome...
I wanted to take time to say thank you. I'm gonna try this in hopes it works but even if it doesn't I wanted to say thanks. This was straight forward and to the point. Many help videos here I've ran into are just too out in left field with info..so thx for the to the point style.
Your welcome
You saved me from buying a new weed eater today. This was exactly my issue, I owe you a beer!
Cool
This fixed my Troy-Bilt weedeater. Stered and then stalled out and would not restart. Cleaned the screen and it started right up. Thanks
Thanks!
My Question:
You put the thin fuel line to the carb and the thick line to the bulb on your machine. But on my machine, the thick line has the tank filter and goes to the carb, the thin line connected to the bulb is the return back to the tank. Is this normal?
As long as the ID fits the barb to get an air tight fit it's good.
Thanks for the video ... my 18 year old weedeater was running a bit rough and this easy fix took care of it.
Glad to help
Weed Eater brand leaf blower was doing exactly as described in the video. Took the carburetor off and sure enough, the screen was packed full of junk. Blew it out with some carb cleaner, put it back together, fires right up and runs like it did when new.
Go after the weed whacker next, it's doing the same thing.
Thanks. I have one of those. Been nothing but trouble... But I am learning how to be a small engine mechanic step by step.
It will pay off in the long run, just stick with it.
Your welcome
wow this worked for me adjusted the idle speed and runs great like now now runs off choke :) thanks dude
Jordan Cooper Glad I could help
Thank you for this short quick video. I’m going to try this before deciding if a full rebuild of my carb is needed.
Don't rebuild just replace the carburetor it's cheaper.
HI, nice vid. My personal preference is to dismantle using a small cordless drill, but I still reassemble with hand tools as to not damage the fastener -- cross thread, damage aluminum body, etc. Just my pref. thanks for vid!
smart
SpockMcoy Issmart In the words of my buddy Kirt, "Ain't nothing tighter than a crossthread"
Thanks
Hindi bhasa me kenspary pawar spary bala chenal ho to batao
Fully agree.
Thanks

Didn't mean to sound offensive, just trying to help people save money. Thanks
Cool!!
You can also clean that little screen without removing the entire carburetor from the weedeater by just removing them 2 screws on the bulb and moving the throttle cable forward. I did.
Yes u can on some models, but not all
If you have fuel, spark and air and will not even sputter I found fix.
Barry Michels Your welcome
Thank you sir, my Echo weed eater is running sluggish and I gotta run it on half choke most of the time. I'm gonna do what you just did. Great video, and straight to the point. Thanks again!!!
Thanks and your welcome
Thanks. My Troy Bilt stops after a few minutes. I'll check this. It seems to be affected by heat. Once it cools down it runs fine until it gets hot.
Just want to say thank you this video helped me to fix my weed eater. Tank you again
Fixed my problem ! Took it apart and sure enough the screen was clogged up !!
Thanks !!
Glad to help...
if you're in a push for time, and it's not leaking massive gas, if it'll run a little and stall or only with the choke on, take the air cleaner off, start it and at it's highest idle or rev, intermittently block the intake with the palm of your hand, it gives no where for the vacuum to go. and alot of time it'll suck whatever is plugged in the fuel delivery. and wham, you're back running.
Yes this idea will work but not for a clogged filler
ZD
Thanks
You probably don't have one of these by the way and the
Very helpful - thank you for taking the time to make this video - best regards from England!
Cool! glad to help.
+TomCat Xsl Good to know! Thanks
you're welcome :) but if you come across one of these weedeaters, you can still use the carb on another weedeater as well as the fuel tank.
Thank for the info.
Thank you so much. I'm having the exact same problem with my Toro. Now I'm going to try this fix. Again thank you.
Your welcome
Very well explained how to video, going have to try this on my 9 year old bolens bought at Lowes dont want to spend 110$ on a new one hopefully it works.
Excellent presentation and information!! I have a replacement carb, but I’m trying your “fix” first 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks!
thanks man this helped me . i opened up the carby and found heaps of dirt in there thanks again
Either way, it worked...THANKS AGAIN!
one more time CZcams saves me time and money, Worked perfect.
Awesome! Followed your vid, cleaned the screen, took some pulls and some aggressive priming but....... BAM!!! IT'S A LIVE!!! Thank you so much for the help.
This video was very informative, i found the real problem to my weed eater but learned alot still......thanks for the video
The blue plastic is actually a reed /check valve for the pumping gas up from tank.(gasket is up against it.)
It's a valve seal
In my case, butterfly stuck ( wouldn't move ),clogged fuel passage (blow the line but no air moving) and cracked primer bulb. It's been sitting in garage over a decade. I need to replace carburetor. Thanks to Amazon for selling rebuilding kits at $10 to $30 depends manufactures and needed parts.
Yes, cheaper to replace the carb.
I haven't put mine back together yet, but that screen was full of debris. So, thank you and even if it doesn't fix it, GREAT Video!
Brian Hodge Thanks!
***** It didn't fix the problem, but still a great video. Thank you!
Brian Hodge Your welcome, carburetors are fairly cheap depending on your weed eater brand name and the carb itself...
Fixed the problem. Thank you very much on saving me 60 bucks.
+guy beal Your welcome
Hey lonnie nice video. It has a good clarity, sound, and the camera is not bouncing all over the place like most videos including any I have tried making.
Or go to e-bay and buy a new carb for around 10 bucks. In fact, go there now, buy one, and have it ready for when yours fails. As cheap as a rebuild kit. No springs to lose. New bulb comes with it. If you had to buy a bulb, it is half the price of a new carb.
NICE! Do you have a link? Or an E-mail for him better yet? I could really use that, i have a few machines that need carbs!!
Thanks I'll give this a shot tomorrow half my yards edged up the others Jumanji looking 😔
Your welcome, hope it helps.
USE NON ETHANOL GAS IF AVAILABLE
ethanol brittle's rubber such as fuel lines and most importantly the diaphragms in the carb.
Got my weed eater going thanks to you!
Your welcome
No need to rebuild if your gaskets are messed up like mine because I had cleaned mine out many times this guy sells whole carbs that are ready to bolt on.
kell490 For that price you can't go wrong!

Why did you keep getting it dirty?
I just sprayed starter fluid in mine pushed the junk right out after pull. Runs like a champ
Cool!
Thanks for the video. I was able to get my trimmer and blower running again.
I appreciate the well done video. No wasted time.
Thanks
I always add stabil to my gas to keep it from gumming up the carb.Todays gas goes bad within a few weeks.
You got that right.
Lonnie you did a great job. I finally decided to try to fix my poor running blower and trimmer myself. Will try to meet the challenge! Great job with the video. Good camera work. Wonder if I could install a small inline filter between the tank and the carb? Or would that impede fuel flow too much?
Thanks, the filter in the tank should be good as long as the gas line don't crack or break and it never hurts to experiment.
It wouldn't start and you don't want to use 90lbs of air, just enough to clean the screen. Common sense.
a new one delivered is about $12 in eBay.... get a new one and install it and stay with only pre-mixed fuel.... ethanol in car gas is a problem
Use high octane fuel
Great video! Got my weedwacker running again! Thanks!!
