Im a Honda fan boy and there is nothing like a high reving N/A engine. Have a S2000 and a DC5 which are 15 and 21 years old and they just are just a riot to drive and keep up in the corners with much more powerful cars.

@@MotorAddicts You can just beat up a Honda and it will take it. Did you see Mat on Carwow drain oil and coolant out of a Honda , Peugeot and a Ford with a rock on the accelerator and the Honda took 6.22 minutes to die, Ford died 20 seconds in, Peugeot 47 seconds.

Used to love my mates 205gti rally car on the road. Not much Power and It would crash and bang everywhere but boy on a tight Welsh backroad it was amazing fun!!!
Short ratios and Twin Carbs really kept the car in its sweet spot and the occasional judicial pull of the handbrake would soon have the car dancing. Unfortunately any long straight of some distance would very quickly become taxing!!

240hp from an 8v is insane, and it seems to pull hard throughout the revs unlike a 16v that only has power up top. i'd definitely be interested to know how reliable that setup is.

Never been a fan of Golf' for some reason, they just don't do it for me, always overlooked them when I was younger what with escorts or MK1 Astra's etc grabbing my attention a lot more.

Amazing car...!! I was wondering....if hé would switch to wider 3 piece wheels and even wider tyre size like the Japanse voomeran Mk1 has hé might improve his traction/torque steer issues?
I have been shopping for wheels, but need to take it to a specialist to get it properly measured for fitment, and those wheels on the jap Voomeran cost about £4000, he’s changed his graphics now, so I can’t get accused of copying him now!😂 although I did ask him first!

Looks amazing. Btw can anyone explain to me as im clueless about golfs, how come the engine looks like it sat so far forward and to one side? Is that their standard mounting position? Does anyone move them back ? Thanks
it's the standard position of the engine. Its moved to the side because the gearbox needs also some room near the engine. And you cannot move the engine back in the short enginebay of especially the Golf1 because there must be some room left for the auxiliaries - fuelinjektion for instance.

Sorry but I switch off as soon as I hear "fully forged"...utterly meaningless term repeated by either those who have no clue or should know better. Fully forged what exactly? Forged pistons? Forged pistons & billet rods, ok. Forged pistons & forged rods, ok, makes sense. What about the crank? Forged or cast? I'd be interested to see what's been done to the head on that to make 240bhp at 8500 too, it doesn't sound stupidly cammy so the head must be amazing. That's what a very healthy K20A2 makes with basic bolt ons & that has an extremely free flowing 4v head. Not saying it's not possible but that's a big number for an 8v NA 2L. I do like a mk1 Golf tho!

It’s been “built” over the 30 years it’s been a race car! It’s not down to just one person, but the previous owner Rob, he built and put the most time and effort into it! So yes, he has my respect, I don’t ever state that I built it!

@@pauldunn8163 MK1 and MK2 have the softest chassis ever, not really known for good handling only thing my mk2 lacked was handling even on good coils
Being 8 inches wider, custom made front and rear tubular chassis, custom anti roll bar front and rear, it handles just as good as any other gocart, especially with an added full weld in roll cage, the car is solid! A little too solid!😂

its actually kinda shit. 240hp is not much, and its fwd, and its got such low gears, "you cant beat anything" as the owner himself says. Spending 15k on a motor to make only 240hp, and even less power to the wheels... Dog shit. My R32 had 240 hp STOCK. You could just drop a 24v vr6 in it, and boom. done. Its a shit can. And I LOVE golfs, especially mk1 golfs. But shit! AWD it, put a vr6 with a DSG in, and BAM! 10x what that car is, and it would sound better too. It's just such a disappointment compared to what it could be. Ill stick with my AWD supercharged Mk5 r32 at 400Hp. AND I SPENT LESS!

Something to do with the rules and regulations with the class of racing it use to do
ABF/ABA block is 15mm taller than all the other vw 4cyl blocks this gives it a better rod ratio for high revs.
