Great video! These are my "go-to" while I train on the treadmill. Love the forward-facing, down-the-trail shots. Very inspiring and motivational.
Thanks for watching!
Great job, Wes! You continue to make my favorite running content on CZcams.
Thank you! I enjoy sharing these with you!
I’m a big fan of your videos! It’s way better than reading race reports. I’ve signed up for 2024 and I felt more prepared and trying to think of similar terrains to train for in the bay area! Great job, Wes!
I’m glad this feels helpful! Good luck to you when you run it. If you remember, let me know how it went!
Great job!!! I love the views, thank you for your extra work filming this
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for posting this! I’m running the Gorge Waterfalls 100k on Saturday and this video is perfect for course recon!!
I'm glad you found the video helpful for your planning. Good luck and enjoy!
You keep doing this your gonna have a ton of people watching, thank you, its like your great edited videos in more of a real experience
Thank you for watching, your support is appreciated!
Love it! #fast! Will keep an eye out for this next year.
This race attracts fast runners, they're amazing to watch fly past.
@@wplate good to know! I’m not a fast one, but this would be a great opportunity to level up with training.
And we are back! Another gem from Wes!
Thanks for watching my friend!
Just noticed that you're using the HydraPak UltraFlask Speed (with the speed cap). Nice! I've go the same ones and love them! Beautiful course!!! Love the trails and scenery. Way more wet than what we see here in Colorado though. Oh, and your friend did a great job with the music!
We do get some wet up here in the PNW! Thank you for watching Chad! 🙏🏼
Thanks so much for taking the time to film and create this! It was so helpful to watch as I prepare for the 2023 race
Good luck, I hope you love it!
Thank you for sharing these Wes. Gives me motivation. I always love your attitude. Steady, focus, never negative, but realistic.
In 2017 I volunteered at the Ohlone 50K in San Jose CA. My Aid Station captain was the experienced and wise Chuck Wilson. He told me a Henry Ford quote and put it in the context of ultrarunning: “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't - you're right.” A positive outlook not only helps move towards a finish, but also makes it more fun, even when it isn't fun. Thanks for watching Steve!
Looks like a lovely adventure, thank you for sharing! I know this took some time to put together so thank you for making the effort for the rest of us! "Ready for this to be over!" Ha! We all know that feeling, way to go! I look forward to viewing another of your videos 😊
Thanks for watching, this was a good day. I hope you enjoy the others on the channel too. I often want the race to be over the moment it starts, I say that specifically as I left the last AS in Cocodona 2022. The paradox of ultra running: It sucks when it starts, and it sucks when it ends. And then I can't wait to start again.
You make the best videos Wes! Great job on the video and the race!
Thank you for watching Nick!
What a gorgeous and challenging course! Nice work! Love your videos!!
Glad you like them Terri! Thank you for watching.
Nicely done Wes! And another great video from you to watch. Thanks for sharing!
I appreciate your taking the time, Thanks for watching!
Amazing race!! So scenic, love the content!
Thank you Olivia!
Another great effort. Well done Wes for sharing these awesome videos. Good 👍 man. Keep it up 🌲👍💪🤩🏃🏻♂️
Thanks David! I'm glad you like the videos.
Such a beautiful spot! We will are going to have to check this out when we road trip, trying to get more ideas for hikes to post also! Thanks for sharing this!
I hope you are able to visit this area, there is a lot to see. Thanks!
thank you Wes...you are awesome...you motivated me to start running again
Welcome back! I get so much enjoyment from my running. Makes
me happy that you found motivation from these videos. Have fun!
Looking forward to seeing this Wes 😃
Hope you like it!
Watching ur videos whilst training on the treadie here in australia. Absolute machine, well done brother
Awesome! Happy to be a part of your training. :)
@@wplate when u first went from 100km to a 100 mile event, what were the biggest factors involved did u find? I’m also a Type1 Diabetic so whatever learnings I can take and adapt are most welcome. Cheers
@@Nathanstype1fitness The big difference was the the length of the overnight. At my first 100k I finished in the middle of the night, while at my first 100 miler I finished a little after sunrise. I remember the last hours of darkness feeling like they went on forever.
@@wplate i guess planning is key here and also making sure u have enough battery life for head torches etc.
@@Nathanstype1fitness Yes! Planning, and also practice. Get out for long training runs in the nighttime to get comfortable with the darkness, with your gear, etc. And consider BOTH a headlamp and a waistlamp. I LOVE my UltrAspire Lumen 800 Multisport ultraspire.com/products/lumen-800-multisport-waist-light/
The waistlamp illuminates the ground at your feet so you can avoid obstacles, then headlamp looks forward to illuminate what's ahead and sees course markers.
Great Video and Nice Trail
Thanks David! It was a fun day of running.
That was fun... let's do it again next year 🥳
Will there be a video on your channel too?
It was such a fun weekend, it was a treat to finally meet you in real life.
@@SeeChadRun I'm not 100% sure on that one yet. I don't think I filmed enough content
Awesome job
Thanks David!
Once again Wes….. what can I say - the footage was incredible 🙂👍🏃♂️ ( I knew it would be 😉)
The waterfalls were definitely beautiful ! the trails were definitely quite technical. You did a super job with the video AND a Big Congratulations on your finish 😀🏃♂️👍. ….. it takes a lot more to hold a camera sharing photos / videos while running a 100k Trail race. Super that your wife is so supportive of you doing this and is definitely out there at your races.
Keep em’ coming…..
I noticed Path Projects is a sponsor??? My birthday is tomorrow (4th), and my wife asked what I wanted, pretty sure the
Path Project Sykes Px - 7” classic shorts (2 pair 😬) are coming, and a base liner as well. First time owner of the shorts, so I’m looking forward to it 🙂. Once again, great video and Thank You for them 🙂👍
I have been a PATH ambassador for a couple years, their stuff is really great. I hope you love it!
Thanks for watching the channel!
Great video! I struggled through the 50k, fun to see the course from another perspective.
Hi Conor, thanks for watching! Congrats on your finish despite the struggle. 🙌🏼
Great video Wes. Crazy scenery and beautiful waterfalls especially the one you ran under. 👍 Just one quick question on these runs do you literally follow the limited markers or use a watch, phone or similar navigation device?
I follow the course marking, and if there's a question I consult the course using the GaiaGPS app on my phone. Glad you enjoyed the video, thank you for watching.
@@wplate thanks Wes, I was always curious especially when it gets to a point when you can't really see a trail.
@@simonhodgson4941 Not seeing a trail doesn't happen very often. If there's an intersection or a questionable spot, it will be marked, but sometimes marking doesn't happen or is vandalized. Having the course on my phone makes it easy for me to feel confident if I haven't seen a marker in a while.
Wes : "So we'll see you in 7.5 miles?"
Volunteer : "Yes"
Wes : " Ok see you in a minute."
So messed up dude 😘
Haha! Right!
So messed up! 😘
Signed up for this next year. The narrowness of the single track gives me some anxiety on the out and back parts especially running into fast runners
I hope you have a good experience! I loved hiking and running along the waterfalls. A beautiful area!
What is that underneath your inReach? Something to keep it fastened to your pack?
Hi Chris! www.giantloopmoto.com/product/tracker-packer/
Is it weird being right by a road the whole time (except for the one loop)? I hadn't really put that together when thinking of this course before.
I did not expect so much highway proximity in the first 38 miles. Aside from the loop up and down among the waterfalls, we could often hear highway and train traffic. I believe a trail we could have used was washed out, so it is possible the future course will be different. After the Cascade Locks AS to Wyeth and back to Cascade Locks, that 20 mile out and back was away from highway noise. Still, it is a beautiful course!
Is that a flip top on your hydration flask ????
Yeah, they’re awesome!

"I'm good"
"I'm good"
Narrator: He was not good
Which part is that? I think it went pretty well!
@@wplate 17:25ish! I laughed 😅
@@swoz_ LOL. Funny. I was a little low there. 50 miles into anything I'm pretty much ready for the finish line. 😉
Loved your new Cocodona video! Great stuff.
Great effort! Fellow Everett runner and wildland firefighter Preston Walker finished right before you.
I didn't realize Preston was from Everett, that's cool! Thanks for watching!
How does Dylan not know who you are by now? O_o
LOL, we have mutual friends but hadn't met until the night before at bib pickup. :)
