Join me for a soft-spoken ASMR guide to building your own mechanical keyboard! In this video I show you the basic components and steps required to put together the custom mechanical keyboard of your dreams, no soldering or prior experience required; this is something anybody can do! Drop has kindly provided their SHIFT keyboard barebones kit, Halo True switches, and GMK Red Samurai keycap set for today's video. I hope you find it both informative and relaxing!
ASMR triggers include ear-to-ear soft speaking, occasional whispering, incidental mouth sounds, unboxing sounds, tapping, and typing sounds. I recommend listening with headphones for the best experience!
Special thanks to Drop for providing the product samples for this video.

WHAT IS ASMR?
---------------------------------------------------
My videos are designed to trigger a relaxing feeling called ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response). ASMR is a particular sensation that some people experience when they hear quiet sounds like whispering and soft speaking or watch certain actions like slow hand motions. ASMR is often described as a pleasant tingling on the head and neck, accompanied by a feeling of deep calm and mild euphoria. Many people watch ASMR videos to relax and manage anxiety, stress, or insomnia. To learn more about ASMR, check out asmruniversity.com/about-asmr.... - Věda a technologie
The character on the escape key is "侍" meaning "Samurai".
Wake tf up samurai, we have a keyboard to build.
@@TheDennys21 beat me to it, dammit
@@shmaeapex1732 hehe, sorry but you snooze, you lose.
I just love these videos, and the community is pure love and kindness, you all are in the first place in my heart.
I couldn't have said it better, thank you for your kindness Heitor! We do indeed have a wonderfully kind community :)
A few years ago I did not even know there was such thing as a "mechanical keyboard hobbyist" but since then I've watched countless HOURS of your videos due to your expertise, honesty, and personality. Even bought a thing or two. Thank you for this new vid!
This is so interesting, I've never seen something like that, I love the sound of the keyboard too
So glad you enjoyed it! Mechanical keyboards are a really fun hobby :D
@@theASMRnerd yes, it's very relaxing and particular :)

Oh man.. I can already tell I’m becoming a keyboard enthusiast.. my wife is gonna hate having a million of these in my closet lol.
It’s here!!!! Nick I can’t tell you how long I’ve waited for this video. Thank you so much my dear friend ☺️☺️
My pleasure, I hope you enjoyed it!!
God this was so satisfying to watch! Awe those button's looks so nice when included! 😍🥰 Lovely video buddy! 💙
Hey nick, long time fan keep up the good work
Wow, looks great!! My favorite keyboard so far is the Drop ALT with the heavy Al case
At 1:32:46, I believe the character on the “Escape” key cap is 「侍」, which should mean the warrior class of “Samurai”! Which would be very fitting considering the name of the kit itself. Please correct me if I’m wrong though, I am still learning.
Yaaaay! ALREADY LOVED IT, 😍😍😍
This was super interesting (and relaxing), especially the part where you were talking about and fiddling with the switches. I also loved when you talked about the red/blue switches in the french whisperer's video (which is how I found your channel). Could you do a whole video talking about/comparing different switches?
the LTT mousepad is so fire 🔥
Love these videos.
I'm really sad, they're not going to do a Drop Shift high profile. That was going to be my endgame. So limited in 1800 layout hotswap custom options. So glad you've done this video though. I love it.
randomy read this comment. there is a keyboard groupbuy coming up of 1800 keyboard! Just google "KBDfans Odin" it is going live in august, not yet confirmed which day exactly. Costs will be around 350$
@@SpaNkeee omg this is amazing - I will look into it! Thanks so much!
allways love your long vids
The yellow keys are the perfect finishing touch
Agreed, they're a lovely accent!
Thanks for video Mr. Nick. The wife wants me to build her one. Looks fun to put together.
This is so relaxing. I have needed this sort of thing recently. Thank you so much for this.
nice another keyboard video !!!!
Plenty more to come! Also, CERTIFIED FIRST! 🥇
dude this so tingly, please do more ear to ear talking/whispering like in this video, where you're veeery close to the mic (& sorta behind the direction the mic is facing towards)
Any good suggestions for full-size non floating keys hotswap keyboard?
as an MK enthusiast I'm not gonna lie I winced when I saw you use dielectric grease on the stab housings. Might I suggest other thiner/purpose made lubes like offerings from krytox/trybosis. otherwise cool build and great asmr :)
Ah crap did I accidentally use the dielectric grease on the stab housings in the video? I usually use the thinner synthetic lube on the housings, and the dielectric on the wire, but sometimes I accidentally get my lube tubes mixed up. I know some people don't even like using the dielectric on the wire, but I've never found it to be a problem. I'm typing on the board in the video right now, and the stabilized keys don't feel gummy. The way I see it, the lube on the wire is mostly to fill the gaps so that there's no rattle, and the dielectric seems to do a good job of that. But you're right, I should probably just order some Krytox and try it out and see if I prefer it.
"Why is this so difficult" sounds like my life motto.
Same fam
We need switch lubing ASMR!
Yaaaay! ALREADY LOVED IT, NICK! (by the way, I'm the second haha)
Glad you're excited about it Maria, and CERTIFIED SECOND! 🥈
mmmm-MMMM I need to get me one of those LTT desk pads at some point
I honestly have no idea how you type without the little bumps on f and j😂 I didn’t even know they made keys without them, I would be lost trying to type without those😂
YES.
Sheeeeesh
Im one of those guys that likes these videos for some reason even though i dont own a computer
your voice sounds sometimes like sheldon’s, from “ The big bang theory “
mmm surround sound
Now it's time to re-record your intro using this board
ok xxxcloutdaddyxx
Bro how is there already 1 comment i literally clicked immediately 🤣
Not just one, but TWO comments before you! They're quick off the draw, but guess what? You're still on the podium! CERTIFIED THIRD! 🥉
Good build but the switches have alot off spring ping sry but everything else is rly good
Most of the characters are Hiragana, the first you picked (number 9) is the hiragana for "yo" :')
You are right, those are hiragana from the Japanese language
Requesting a new Forza Horizon asmr!
You didnt even showcase the lights...really
This seems like a recipe for a broken keyboard also thr amount of lubricant is quite poultry. Lol sry. Chicken lube
