Holy hell what did you get into? Man that's dedication! I thought only the USDM GVR-4's were the only ones numbered? Why would you have to convert it to LHD if it was? Did some of them show up RHD or something?! I... I'm a little bit lost. Incredible work, though! Mission accomplished! Also, if you like Vülfpeck, make sure that you've checked out Snarky Puppy by now. Start with "Skate U" if you haven't.
First off - I can't believe somebody as CZcams/DSM famous as you watches my builds! lol. You & your channel rock. As for this car - It is a USDM car that somebody swapped to RHD sometime around the year 2000 (based on the history I can come up with on Google). They did an atrocious job at it, and the RHD swap was never finished. The car was never put back together again, and it bounced all around the country for about a decade. I then acquired it and wasn't sure whether to make it a mad-max vehicle or restore it. As you can see, the latter option won. ;) It was a ton of work, but also a lot of fun! I tried to TIG everything to force myself to become a better welder during the process. I also painted it the wrong color white at first, so I got decent at sanding and painting! Now my friend Brad owns the car, and the engine is currently being rebuilt. He is a Mitsubishi enthusiast to the fullest, so this car is in great hands! I can't wait to own it again in a few years :)
I've been subscribed to you for over 6 years. ;) Thanks for clearing up the fog about this, I knew something was weird... Way to give it a new lease on life! I don't know why they didn't just import a whole JDM Galant instead? It would have been easier, and probably even cheaper. I watched a 174,000km Syborg get imported and sold for only $6000. I looked at it. I almost bought it. It was like a little white miniature Galant. I don't know how you get a car here from Japan that cheap?
My only guess is that importing cars was super weird back in the early 2000's. On the other hand, when this car was swapped, they must have had a JDM front clip to grab all the RHD parts from. The whole thing is really weird. I wish I knew more about it, like who did the swap way back then. The work was bad, but I bet the story is great! I'm not sure how an imported car gets here for $6000 either. It seems like somebody must have taken a loss for sure. However, Mightycarmods sliced up a tony turbo JDM car and put it into a box and mailed it from Japan to Australia in a shipping crate. That was rad and probably less than $6k. Some assembly required though ;)
Haha! A lifetime of working on cars I guess? It’s a big puzzle really, you just take it apart until the bad stuff is removed, then you reassemble with good stuff. Thanks for watching!
Jay En - actually it’s the opposite! :) When the car was new, it was LHD and in the US. Somebody tried swapping it to RHD and screwed it up quite a bit. The car was then passed around through many owners for about a decade (or more!) annnnd then I got it and made it a nice drivable car again!

Where do you get the knowledge to do things like this?.. Wow

Well damn....So previous owner decided to go LHD and fuckled a bit.
