The police academy is a good way to test people to see if they’re ready for the job. It also builds solidarity amongst the recruits.

I am from Serbia (Balkan, and no, it's not Russia xD) And here, we have (thank you God) not so much shootings (school, in city etc.) but we had some big mass shootings in couple years back, but we don't have so much chasing, shooting everyday, and stuff like you can see in whole America...and i just want to say, people here, also, don't see cops on cool image, and most of them hate the cops (including me, back then when i didn't know what you need to have to become one of them) But, now, when i talked to some of them, and when i watch one of these types of videos, i need to say just one: Thank you all for this shit, for protecting people and risking your own lifes! So for everyone who is the cop, or wants to become one of them, i wish you all the best and once again, thank you! :)

The first PT test I did I remember this one dude dressed up in his army gear and parked directly in a handicap spot. I was talking to a few guys about the test and all of a sudden we heard yelling. Washington state patrol trooper literally starting yelling at this dude and told him to go home. The guy than started yelling back. Needless to say he got kicked out and arrested for disobeying orders. Trooper told all of us, it all starts with doing the right things the first time.
You seem like a good dude. Gives me hope that there's plenty of awesome cops. I like that you're actually opening up personally and not being some tight ass tough guy.

Michael Klewinski At the academy here you have to go through a physical test and then basically a comprehension test on a computer with a bunch of multiple choice questions that also determine your behavior basically and then there’s a oral interview,polygraph,background check,physiological test and then a medical evaluation and after all that then they can tell you no or yes and then you finally go into the academy ...I don’t know if it’s different other places but that’s why they pay you to go through the academy where I’m at ..

I climbed the stairs at the CN Tower in Toronto! My goal was to reach the top in 35 minutes (which I really didn't know if I could do it) and I ended up doing it in 29 minutes and 45 seconds! 😊 Very happy! I have no idea how I ended up here at almost 2am on a Monday where I have to get up in 4 hours and go to my mild corporate job... but I'm not sad. Morning me is going to disagree but you're worth it.
Possibly stupid question time from a citizen pleeb: do they give language lessons? So many officers sound SO similar I can easily identify you guys even in plain clothes. Not just verbiage, the actual intonation and flows of speaking. It's always interested me and wanted to ask but haven't ever seemed to find a good time to do it (don't want to be one of those people interrupting during the one 15 minute break the office gets in their 12 hr shift). Subscribed for sure.
So it's a bit late but I have an answer for you. The military/police doesn't teach you a specific manner of speech, but there are things you pick up. Service-specific jargon and a requirement to have a "command presence" affects your speech and body language. There's also the fact that most people who go into those professions have a similar personality type. It's more of a by-product of being in that world for so long than an intentional, trained action.

Instances where it either touched you and pulled at ur heartstrings or restored ur faith in humanity... and/or time that the protect and serve was really put into action. Things that u have done that have really helped citizens in a hard time...

Can you do a video comparing American cops to Canadian cops and what you think the biggest difference is? I live in Canada and my dads a cop here and it seems a little differnt but I would like to see your point of view!

I think Canada cops go tp through the same but where I live after you go through the Police academy and get hired at the police station or whatever they make you do a fitness test and yes Canada does have cops

I have to say is...wow!... My academy (MI) was certainly not as relaxed as you portrayed GA’s to be 😂. It was more of a “boot-camp” style as you mentioned. Started at 7:30am and went to at least 9-10pm at night (none of this 8a-5p stuff lol), stayed in dorms, etc.
There’s a doctor that’s really popular on CZcams that watches different medical shows and reviews the accuracy and teaches a bit about why they’re doing what they’re doing. I would love to see that in a police setting.
I need a "How to train for Police Academy" I'll start trying to go in 2 years after I finish my Associates and Bachelors. I've been going to the gym and I'm trying to prep for mile runs
Christopher Charles the best advice for pt preparedness was to not just run but do a lot of cardio workouts. Don't worry about lifting weights. Here is what i did and it actually improved my cardio twice as faat as running. Do 40 squats, 30 burpees, 40 mountain climbers, 30 jumping jacks, 20 pushups, 30 lunges per leg. Start at your own pace but that def helped me. You can also run a mile and in betweeb milea do a set of the above mentioned excersises.

When I was in the academy going through EVOC, we had a guy actually hit the instructor with the car. Yeah...I'll let you guess what happened

Brother your acad experience sounds so much better than all of my cop buddies storys. Most of my friends went to MLEOTA (Mississippi) and all of them say it was hell on earth. I know many ex military that have went thru there military basics then MLEOTA and said it was way harder

Every Monday for PT at my active duty Army unit we did five mile runs to flush out all the alcohol from that weekend. You could easily tell who the Sunday night drinkers were. lol

San Diego doesn't have dormitories, we have to rent out on our own. Good part is we get to go home every day after the academy and relax / study. Downside, San Diego has expensive rent rates. Still worth the experience.

401 with his crazy door stories again. Also for northeast AL academy, you stay on the army base for everything. Here its 4 days a week of class.
I'm in the LA Sheriff Department hiring process right now. The academy is not a live in academy. You get paid in academy, but housing is not included. You just stay at home and commute to academy everyday.

Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department Eugene Biscailitz Regional Traning Center and College Of The Canyons are the only two academies with the LASD and both of them are no longer on base living and its been like that since 1983 when the Eugene Biscailitz Regional Training Center academy closed due to lack of space, but it reopened in June 2014 and it hosted the first class in over 30 years the next month and it continues to be that way to this day. The way the LASD academies are now that you go to your class early in the morning by starting out with Physical Training and then you will report to the classroom or other hands on training. The academy classes would be 22 weeks long monday through friday and you would get to go home every night and sometime you would have to come back for a big exam on weekends sometimes for the ones that are mandated by California Peace Officer Standards & Training
My academy in Georgia is known as an Academic Police Academy. The most PT that we did was basic push ups and stretching exercises for our one week of Defensive Tactics training, where we basically kicked the crap out of each other.
When 401 starts to tell a story, there's a very high chance that a car door hitting something/someone is involved.
I would be so scared for the Taser and pepper spray part.
Ablation taser is better than oc spray in terms of which is over faster
Taser is over as fast as it starts, the OC is what sucks. You go for your shower at night and it reactivates, then your face breaks out and turns red and burns like hell for the next few days.

I could imagine it’s people who really didn’t wanna be there in the first place. I’m sure the classroom stuff isn’t that difficult if you have an actual desire and passion to be a cop.
Word of advice bro, external drives and no less than 2 backups. I’m a professional photographer and have an external HDD I work on plus 2 backups HDD and 1 backup on blue ray. That’s my set up but I always recommend no less than 2 backup drives because your primary and first backup could fail.

Academy sounds just like the Army's Officer Leadership Course, 5 months of PT in the morning and classes till 1700-1800, followed by field training exercises and evaluations.
I like that the videos are short and specific less then 10mins
Blue screen of death DOES NOT mean you lost everything. It just means a bad error. I have gotten many of those on startup, so then I try again and it starts up like normal.
Video topic suggestion... 1st amendment auditors. That youtube community is gaining a lot of popularity. They film and take pictures of the police and public places ( inducing encounters with the police or any other authorities or public servants )

Hard drive issues, it probably stems from a cooling issue. People always care about the specs of their hardware. When really the most important thing is proper cooling. When I built my pc I put as many fans in it as i could. My drives get blanketed by fresh air.
