How good is the game performance on the Microsd. Is there any performance issue?
i have a sd card but i can't instal steam or blizzard's games, is it normal? does it have to have a special setting or else to do?
I got the Sandisk Extreme Pro (V30 U2) (200 MBps pretty quick) and I cant get it to write faster than 14MBps on the Ally WTF?! If you plan on using XBOX Game Pass your card MUST be formatted NTFS @ 4096 sector size or it wont allow you to install games to the card FYI

Marc from ur impressions so far which do u prefer Rog Ally or Steam Deck?
I'm really liking being able to install any launcher and xbox game pass. But battery life is bad compared to the Steam Deck and much more expensive.

I thought i heard other user said it was messing up SD Card and people should wait for another update to fix . I get mine tomorrow and was wondering what to do as i have a 1T SandisK SD card i was hoping to use in it . Was planning on upgrading the SSD to 2T also.
Don’t use an sd card till ASUS delivers a fix. Take is out too

@@Soljie1969 late reply, apologies. I can't tell if it was the sd card or the emulator but playing Persona 3 Portable on Yuzu started crashing after a few minutes of playing. Also my friend sent me a text informing my that his Ally fried his SD card so i pulled mine out and swapped it out for a 2TB external SSD. My game no longer crashes running on the SSD btw.
my samsung pro ultimate 256 gb does not work on ally !

I have both, and I prefer the Ally over the deck. The deck is still a great machine tho. I’m gonna be very sad when I sell it
Guys notice any difference in games on sdcard?
Do some research, many people's SD card reader get fried from heat. To add insult to injury, sometimes it fires your SD card as well. Plenty of info about this problem out there, including an acknowledgement by ASUS that this is a problem.
You should also do some research with the new firmware that no longer happens.

As far as I've known, this is some sort of hardware problem. Software upgrade won't help much.

Rog ally killed my 500 gb samsung evo plus is the pro plus better?
Pro Plus should be better. Samsung said it's actually great for gaming.
@@Marcthegeekthanks man, it was strange, was working great then had to hard restart device and when restarted sd card no longer showed and when tried it on my switch it wouldn't find it either...gutted as brand new card 😢😢😢

@BodofLegend Heya no I didn't im afraid but my moneys on it had something to do with when I had to hard shutdown and restart the ally, either corrupted it or the only other thing I can think is the bizarre choice to have an sd slot right where the device gets most hot.i got a replacement card but won't try it untill they either address the issue or more updates roll out.

Yep. Bad. On a latest AAA game, I'm getting between 1hr to 1hr :30min. Indie game over 2hrs.

I tried to use batocera cd card when i boot the sd card the rog ally didn't read ( Selected file is not a UEFI Bios ) how to solve it
What brand again? If it's a none popular brand, they tend to be fake and poorly made. But reliable at all.
My first Ally roasted both my Samsung EVO 512 GB card and my SD card reader. Am on my second Ally and am only playing games from internal SSD. Dont wanna take any chances.

Is it the read/write cycles getting used up?
@@markjackson1989 "burn" means damaged by heat. My ally damaged 3 SD cards and finally the SD port stopped working due to the heat.

@Martin Pavon Yeah I bought a micron 2tb ssd and 1tb micro sd card from Newegg. Gonna clone my ssd and put the micro sd card in
Like I said in video, this card is temporary. This card will eventually be for my camera until I can buy a 512gb or 1TB.
Mine will only allow me to format in exFat and then won't even show up in the settings
