I only just recently overcame my disordered eating and body dysmorphia. Trust me when I say this, IT GETS BETTER. I get so emotional when I think or talk about that time because I thought that was what I had to do. Now I enjoy food so much more and feel so much happier. I began seeing a psychologist and she has helped immensely. You will feel so liberated when you overcome this. You got this girl

You are so wise, definitely beyond your years. Everything you say resonates with me so well. I started getting fit again after a break up and, after a history of a close encounter with disordered eating, I knew I had to have a more balanced approach to fitness and food. It's weird that I consider to be your very distant friend? I bet you'd give all sorts of good advice about life

Thanks for sharing your story! I've never had full-blown exercise addiction but I've definitely been in a space where I really beat myself up if I missed a day and worried about losing my progress. Haha I'm one of those people who kinda enjoys being a little sore. :-P But I know everyone is different. I've been wanting to get into yoga for a long time (for flexibility but also for my mind) and just been struggling to find the time!

Aw, thanks for listening Sarah! I definitely think there is a time and a place for all types of exercise. Right now yoga is what's best for me, but I think sometime in the future I would like to get into weights again as well :)

I started a 30 day yoga challenge 4 days ago and right now, it's hard. It's hard finding my breath and the mentality. But I've very rarely proved myself that I can finish something so I want to do this. I'm not strong by all means. I shake and get frustrated but I actually love it. I love having 20-30 minutes to myself, working on what I want to work on. Not because society told me to do it. I love it. I love how I feel after and I can't wait to see what my mentality is like after these 30 days

If you're talking about Yoga With Adriene, I'm going through her 31 days of yoga revolution program! It's been very fun and challenging. I love the feeling that I've shown up on the mat and accomplished something by taking the time to lovingly care for my body and make it stronger. Yoga is great!

I can relate to this SO MUCH. I'm in a similar situation that you were, because I'm recovering from anorexia, and after losing control of my food, I started to reach for anything else I could control, mainly exercise. This video helped me indescribably in realizing what my real values are and that the gym should not take first priority over things I enjoy so much more. Yes, I love the feelings of finishing a good workout, but I love the feeling of having a down to earth conversation with friends/family even more. It's going to be a battle, but I am slowly working on recovering from anorexia and my exercise addiction!! Thank you for your help. Your videos are always inspiring and teach me so much. I'm making your corn empanadas in the next few days and cannot wait!!!!

I just totally understand (I have been through this too) and at the end the only problem is us, a lot of people complain about the pressure of social media but it's because they pay too much attention to them, we should just accept our body the way he is, we should love our body! It's all about accepting who you are and self love you're never going to have the body of someone who isn't YOU and people should stop focusing on others and think much more about themselves to be happier!
    Anyway loved the video! ❤️

Thank you so much for making this video! I've been working through a really negative mindset towards my body when I can't exercise or eat something not perfectly healthy. I'm so happy for you that you've been able to connect with your body in this way, and its comforting that someone who has gone something similar has found peace. I love yoga and do it almost daily, but I was also forcing myself to run for miles and do intense ab workouts. This inspired me to focus on the movement that makes me love myself and my body!

wow, your story sounds so similar to mine. I actually did Insanity as well the summer before my sophomore year of college. I live in Virginia, and I passed up an opportunity to go to California with my parents and see LA, San Diego, etc. because I felt I absolutely had to stay at home and finish the program. It was my first priority every single day, and during the school year I replaced it with weight lifting and would feel guilty if I missed a day. I was motivated by the same things you were (wanting to look fit and thinking people wouldn't like me if I didn't.) Luckily I am in a healthier place now, and I'm glad you are too. Great video! I have also been through that kind of in a similar way to you. Christine Salus opened my eyes to it first and I am so glad! I feel way more balanced now. Loved hearing you speak about it!

I love these chats, nice and informal. Great to hear you being so open about your addiction, I found myself getting into a similar addiction during university, so it's nice to hear I'm not alone!

I saw this video a couple of days ago and I was unsure whether or not I wanted to watch it. Well, I did and I am so happy that I did because it was so valuable to me and I definitely took something away from it. Thank you Caitlin for being honest and vulnerable and sharing your story with other people

I'd normally never watch a 30 minute video because I'm just not really into long videos, but I watched this one all the way through and was totally engaged the whole time. I resonated with so much of what you said. I've really been trying to exercise less or just take light walks, but sometimes I become so overpowered by the need to go on a run or do a HIIT workout and it's honestly so hard. I've pretty much destroyed my knees due to exercise and am trying to recover them, which makes it all the more difficult. Also, because of you I've really gotten into yoga so I'd like to thank you for that! Thanks for sharing your story. :)

Thank you for this! I can definitely relate. I didn't realize at the time, but looking back I was over exercising. Now I'm working on finding "balance" and truly working out to feel good and because I want to, not to just to look better.

Thank you so much for sharing your story and thoughts. I use to restrict calories and cut foods out, overexcercise and not sleeping in high school. Then it got better (my mindset) when I went vegan because I wasn't obsessive about my weight. And yoga for sure has helped and been the 'excercise' I've kept. 😊 Your such an inspiration Caitlyn ❤️

Thank you so much for sharing this, I can relate. I did all those programs too, and at the beginning I was getting results so fast I got excited and put aside other aspects of my life like family and friends. Then my body kinda collapsed, I started getting sick all the time, not feeling very energetic and realized what I was doing was probably not the right thing. This happened to me in college because looking at all the skinny girls, I wanted to be like them, I only followed fitness pages on Instagram, it was crazy. I was even taken to a psychologist once. I learned a lot from that experience, I learned to love myself so today I am grateful for that. Now I am happy, healthy and vegan :)

Thanks so much for this video, it made me realise that I had a beginning of exercise addiction... Im getting over a severe back problem, so I have been resting for 2 months and looking back I really did over do it at gym. Now I'm slowly but surely getting 1 or 2 workouts a week and it feels good just to slower workouts and be more mindful. I love the gym as it is me time, but I will definitely take it much slower now and truly appreciate it :) xxx
