  • The DINARIC RALLY kicked off!! 110 riders will race through the Dinaric Alps for 6 days straight. To announce our arrival to the village of Knin, Croatia, we do a little parade through town. The next morning, Stage 1 begins and although I hoped to be faster, I am still pleased with position #48 after stage 1. Stage 2 begins well, and my position is good, but at 320 kilometers into the Special Stage, I have a very unfortunate accident, resulting in a broken hand. This is part of motorcycling, there is always a risk that you have to be willing to take. In this case, it was just an unfortunate mishap as I wasn't even riding at race speed! That means the end of the Dinaric Rally for me, but I am so happy I got to experience this part of the world and I will be back very soon!

    Four weeks doesn't sound like long enough to recover and ride again. After 59 years of motorcycling, I sold my ST1100, last month . I'm 75, and a week ago today, my 85 year old friend passed away while riding his new Honda Grom. I had previously questioned why he wanted to keep riding, saying, "If you fall down, you probably won't be getting up again." He agreed, but told me he "Wanted to keep riding until he couldn''t ride anymore." He got his wish. Some of us apparently have something in our blood that makes motorcycling more important than life itself.

      Tell that to the hand.......or whats left of it. Downplaying a broken hand, a right hand, for a right handed individual, seems strange.....have you really thought about what you are saying? My point being these types of injuries don't always fully heal...your 100% certainty is based on what exactly? So I can deduce from your comment that you agree this is a serious injury, and that you believe, for some reason, that crashing and hurting yourself seriously is part of it, as she claims. This myth is propagated by her, and others, and the near entire comment stream on this following. This was inevitable I am afraid, as predicted by myself in earlier videos. Not because its "part of it" but because there is such a thing as riding beyond your skill level. World travel, and racing (rallying), are actually different enough. Ask Charlie Bowman...who famously traveled the world, then naively entered the Paris Dakar.....and predictably broke both his wrists.....in a basic fall. Two peas in a pod. I will also point out that she near broke her foot and ankle trying to get up a rocky hill in the middle of the desert sun, alone. So that is the first serious injury, this the second...foot, then hand...pretty sure that counts as serious.......unless you are in la la land.

      @@greyfisher3897 Not sure how much riding you have done but i kept an eye on her speed and at no stage was she doing anything silly the speed was appropriate for the terrain she wasnt cranking it on and going crazy fast . As far as the injury im sure if it was thought that it wouldnt heal they would have put a couple of screws or a plate .And yes they are not great injuries a right hand for a right handed person its very hard to wipe your bum for one thing lol .

    • @greyfisher3897
      @greyfisher3897 Před 8 měsíci

      @@arfyseal I appreciate the reply to my comment. Well I am a championed off road/crosscounty/enduro rider, and a instructed for near 10 years, and have been riding now a total of 40 years on a 14 bikes, street and offroad. What I offered in my comment was constructive analysis based on watched several of her videos, particularly when the crashes occurred with injury. So my observation was what she said verbally.....15km/hr in tall grass looking for the trail. Fortunately she was not destracted by running a commentary, operating her go pro and drone cameras, and looking of clues on her tower of maps and timing equipment....she says. From my experience tall grass is extremely hazardous......it hides everything. So therefore traveling 15km/hr is too fast...you have to creep through tall grass if off the beaten path....hence her surprise and instinctive hands out protection reaction....As I said, ask Charlie Bowman...gets over his head...over confident from traveling and tried his hand at racing.....put his hands out, and broke both wrists....early in the race. So the point here is that all riders need to learn from this type of video. It is a basic rule for successful off road riding...success meaning no injury at the end of the day. Accepting injury as part of it,, this type of serious injury is plain foolhardy in principle. In this comment stream there is little to no analysis, just a bunch of over praising and encouragement. I listen to her words....she said in the video, that she was racing..."to improve her rock riding skills". This is not the place to practice. My feeling is that simply riding for the enjoyment and athleticism of it is what she needs to do more of. An unpacked bike, a proper enduro bike no laden wtih guidebooks and timers, no cameras, no distractions....just pure focus on the ride...the jumps, the rocks, the hills....in a pure fashion is what she needs to do. Leave the cameras at home and actually learn how to ride. I have studied her riding style, she is too stiff in the saddle, can barely jump a log, and has a terrible time in the rocks and hills. She is not racing material, maybe in a beginner class but any serious racing off road, or on, is well beyond her skill level. I have learned that she only began riding as an adult. Pure racing talent more often than not has to start at an early age, get all the crashing out of the way when you are young and strong. I have noticed that many of my observations are conveniently removed from this stream, as people don't seem to like the truth....just the false praise and claims of amazingness. Nothing amazing going on here...predictable accident.....I have been predicting it. What is amazing is her trudging around the planet...yes....racing talent..no.

      So what should she do when she breaks her foot, which she almost did in the desert in Arizona if I recall.....still trying to master the rocky hills even today "she said so in this video", Your comment about the fascination is accurate, she shouldn't be in the races and stick to what she does best, touring. Narrating a you tube channel while "racing" is incongruous, and inevitably will result in a crash.....focus is the key to racing success.....she even said that herself that she was finding it difficult to do the commentary and race.....but yet she still carried on doing so.....I hope she learns to ride without the filming and talking element, and learns to ride offroad properly instead of taking the half assed approach. Ya its that dangerous....many ADV riders....starting as adults, are learning this every time they break a bone , and post it and the xrays and the hospital visits on you tube.....nothing new here really.......sorry to say......

    Even my wife (who is a little jealous of how much I admire you) is wishing you a speedy recovery and a quick return to your passion. Nothing that you've gone through has done anything but make you stronger. I can't wait to see what's next for an even stronger, braver Noraly!

    • @greyfisher3897
      @greyfisher3897 Před 8 měsíci

      Are you sure its jealousy? Maybe she is concerned for you and questioning your admiration level....? I have that concern for most of the commenters on this following.....this injury was inevitable ( I have predicted this outcome on previous comments) Norally states that this injury is "part of it", which is entirely absurd. The objective is to avoid injury. Riding through tall grass ( without the expectation of holes and logs, and rocks etc) is a lesson I learned when I was about 10 years old. Something experienced riders don't do. Not sure if its a bravery thing that she goes out and "races" and breaks her hand going slow in tall grass...if you get my drift.

    You are such a fierce competitor. Loved the section through the high grass meadows where you were blowing past other riders, accompanied by your usual stirring soundtrack. Still so upbeat despite the disappointment of the early retirement and still the smile says it all, was very impressed with your riding in such rough terrain and I was expecting to see you crash out when you were powering on through the thick dust with so little visibility which is unnerving same as riding in thick fog but so happy that you are A OK and no doubt chomping at the bit with frustration. Please do not push yourself until you have fully healed,we want you 100% and able to give it same,regards from UK John.

    Whenever I've received a debilitating injury, I'd work and exercise around it until it was healed, and come out the other side in much more ready condition than if I hadn't. Inactivity is harder to bounce back from.

    Noraly, its pretty sad, you got injuries, the other side of this is the fact that, you still look strong and courageous as if nothing happen, a spirit of a natural leader, you knew that you were taking risk, yet you went for it not just to be on the channel, but to teach those looking up to you, to never giving up no matter what.... big thumbs for you and cheers to our cheer leader, resilient Noraly, sure you will be back soon, speedy recovery, and we will be on standby, until then, when you kind of bored within this 4 weeks of healing process, please take a selfie, of anything that comes to mind and post it up, we are here and in it with you, so lets be a part of your healing process, but do also make it a point to take enough rest, less stress, lots of love❤❤❤❤ see you soon.
