If you’ve tried Ring Security, do you like it and recommend it for the price and features?
I've had the system for about a year and a half. I like it except for the fact that they don't have an adequate outdoor siren.
@@loub8933 Agree. However, since I have accidentally set mine off 2-3x, I’m also sort of glad no one else hears it. 😀
When securing my office, I was between Ring and Ooma. I am not a fan of these subscription based, always-cloud connected systems. It comes down to some privacy concerns, but mostly not actually owning the hardware (company goes under/servers turn off because your product is too 'old' makes it all ewaste in an instant).
As a renter, I was unable to wire in my own system, ended up going with Ooma, my review is inline with yours. It is a great, simple system. I do not pay for the subscription, get all the features I need (remote monitoring, arm/disarm, etc.). Did not add cameras, due to the privacy component, I have an on-premise system that mirrors with a server I have at home.
I think these systems are vulnerable to low-skill jamming attacks, though, that is not a concern where I have mine installed (there are multiple points of security between my office door, public-access areas).
I’m sure there is good and bad for nearly every system. More and more as a consumer, I try to stay away from subscribing to things that are hard to quit, and I too like to own my own hardware.
100%, Ooma requires you signup for a 90 day trial to setup your hardware, requiring CC info, and is nearly impossible to cancel. Needless to say, it made me regret my purchase. Otherwise it has been great!@@volcolby
Note that some of the prices are increasing in mid-2024, so the subscription service rates mentioned in this video may not reflect current pricing.
