@@aj-sz8mu The hacker installed cheats onto those pro's computer, they could've installed something much more malicious and could've stolen their information or possibly did steal their information. It's just that EA is lazy and has sloppy anti cheat to protect their users from malicious attacks.

I know, it might sounds weird, but hear me out. For already a years, Respawn did nothing about the hackers. High ranks was absolutely filled with hackers, but now, the ALGS got hacked and this hacker - just made Respawn to actually work for Anti-Cheat, cuz now, the most important event of the whole year - is being paused, because they didnt paid any attention to hackers before. Right now - they got their reputation blowed up and they need to do something about it.
Btw, with all of this shit, i just remembered that in Rainbow Six: Siege, during one of the major, hackers also hacked the event, but they just made people to look for funny chicken xd. And it was showen on the main stream of the major.

This has nothing to do with the anti cheat. He has backdoor access to the server and he individually compromised Hal and Gen's machines. This has almost nothing to do with anti-cheat because he's completely subverted that already.
I'm sorry if I support the cheater this time, they exposed the problem of EA and Respawn's sloppy attitude in fixing problems of the Apex Legends from season 0: not fixing matchmaking, not doing cross-progression, insane cheats in high-rank games （Predators are meaningless）. In this circumstance, this act of Destroyer2009 is literally the Stein from My Hero Academia that symbolizes the problems casual players and rank grinders are facing and suffering. Honestly, EA and Respawn didn't earn enough respect from the fans who loved this game, willing to spend money, time, and effort on this game. I hope EA and Respawn pay enough attention to this incident, as they reflect on their attitude and work spent on what they are supposed to do (Not stupid recolors anymore, not selling prestige skin for sky-high prices, not allowing diamond players to meet with predator players, not allowing the entire game ruined by 1 cheater and etc..)

Not going to happen. Destroyer did something that you’ll only see a few times in your lifetime. Issuing a server side attack is not something your average joe can do. Anyone can code some cheats and sell them. Destroyer by definition is a literal hacker and prodigy.

They have been hacked multiple times already the last years. Respawn don't care about player security, server performance or code quality.
If you look at how Respawn devs have responded to complaints about anti cheat or just complaints in general in the past they are weird people. They take everything personally and can't take criticism like grown adults. It's like they don't address the issue to spite the people who bring it up because of ego.

That blogpost proved years ago that there are not serious people working in that company. Then the year long ineptness to defend against the most basic DDOS attacks. Plus the lobby/store got taken over by hackers before. Nothing about this new attack is surprising. This is just regular Respawn/EA mode of operation. They are 100% to blame.

Let me tell the new players a tale.
A Tale of a game called "Titanfall 2" and it's cheating and DDOS problems. In late 2021, Apex servers were crippled, hacked and shut downed by Titanfall hackers as a wake up call to EA to fix the issues in titanfall 2.
Lo and Behold, 2 years later Titanfall 2's hacking and ddos problem is no more.
If Destroyer is trying to cripple Respawn by proving that they have a weak protection, data isn't safe and their anti-cheat sucks, Let the man work.

the fact that Respawn after 5 years took security seriously is a joke for all of us. they made millions with this game and, since season 0 we always told them that the anti-cheat was a joke.

I love how these companies make BILLIONS of dollars every year but can't deal with cybersecurity 😂
The same could be said about almost any company, they never take security seriously until it becomes an economical threat
as a cybersec student its because cybersec is only needed when its needed. Why would a business pay a security team to work on stuff all the time when its 9/10 times cheaper to deal with any kind of hack or data breach after it happens. Companies do this all the time. Its why cybersec has mass layoffs because once you fix an issue and get a temporary patch, good bye we arnt needed until the next hack then companies are scrambling to find people to hire.

0:45 just like pirate software said, the cosmetics department is a whole different deal and has a scheduled release for new item no matter what.
Maybe destroyer 9 should be there ambassador and work for ea and respawn and help get those cheats off the game
It'll never happen, if there's people with soft cheats, they can make the game look good. They don't want the hackers gone, they only want to keep their rep up and their wallets full (prime example is this BS heirloom coming out for 700 dollars. Thats literatly almost as much as my rent and car payments COMBINED)

How does someone externally connect to port 135 if it's not port forwarded in the local router?
Port 135 is only maintained by firewall or network restrictions. Good practice is to block unknown connections over it (and in general, block unknown connections) but not common practice if you don’t know too much about cyber security.
I remember i while ago. Tim, nick, cloak, and courage teamed up with a hacker to combat cheaters in warzone because of how bad cheating got

I still wonder if any of of this has ties to the TitanFall 2 hacks from a couple years ago, Don't forget this is all a very modified Source engine running both Titanfall 2 and Apex and hackers/modders had a open field day with TitanFall 2, that's what brought about the Apex "SaveTitanFall" hack that gave everyone said popup.
Well maybe EA/Respawn will now put security, cheating, and all the other issue we've all complained about for a long time now. But considering the First correspondence I received from EA since this happened was a "Come spend $ on the new event" it's doubtful...

I know this is a completely different game, but If anyone is familiar with RuneScape, a long time ago they had a major problem with players using botting scripts. So they made a legal agreement with one of the most experienced individuals in that field. Shortly after this, they eradicated like 90% bots for quite some time. To this day, their detection methods for finding individuals and banning them for bot usage is still significantly high and is only really used by gold farmers who will eventually get banned and not actual players. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to see how this is relatable to the cheating problem in apex.
Shouldn't Valve have something to say, I mean game is based on their game engine, shouldn't they know something more about possibile vulnerabilities 😅
I don't think valve cares anymore, just look at team Fortress 2.
Also I think Respawn uses a highly modded version of the game engine. They did this in order to implement features like lurching and make wall-running feel smoother in Titanfall. So in short, Valve could just say those vulnerabilities could have been introduced by Respawn.
valve has their own cheating situation in CS2, thats probably worse than apex. valve doesnt give a f***, as long as you're playing their casino game : CS2, where you open boxes for items. just a casino now, not a game.

As an IT and Security Professional, I find it crazy that many dont know how straightforward it is to implement a Jump Box (JB). while integrating a VPN with the Jump Box, and then connecting it to a separate private VPC, along with various layers of infrastructure. Good luck! clearly the hacker knows what he is doing and has a very intensive knowledge network infrastructure/developing. He may already have access to everyone you just wont know. Ports are everything, and malware are game changers. The problem is the same ports and malware that are being used on a day to day, are also being used by the same company having the issue. so is like a vicious circle sadly. You can change your ISP, connections etc.. doesnt matter MAC address and cyphers are gold and that is how i believe the hacker is moving around. Hacker are always be 3-5 steps ahead of real IT people, so you can only imagine average joes.

Alright, let's make it more straightforward. Imagine we're dealing with a game scenario, Let's say Apex uses port 78 exclusively for ranked matches. This port's job is to funnel specific traffic, specifically targeting IP/MAC addresses or unique game IDs to their proper match. Now, because of turnover and improper protocol is like leaving the back door open for trouble. If a hacker gets a hold of your IP/MAC or game ID, they can clone your session using their own tools, jumping right into where you're supposed to be. So, the real problem isn't your router or PC-it's how the traffic between players and the game server is managed. It's about ensuring that the path from the user to the game is locked down which probably isn’t it because it cost a lot $$$ and resources. Makes sense, right? This is more about the security in the interaction between users and the destination rather than a local hardware issue. What APEX (respawn) should’ve of done was shutdown all the servers everything off for a week. clone fresh servers from a stable environment let’s say 2 months back and start fresh. Shut everything down for one week. Regroup and redo. Sure you will loose money but you will have more stability user confidence back. But guess what respawn is picking? $$$$$$

Keep in mind that "safe" doesn't necessarily mean things like your PC or payment info. We already know definitively that destroyer2009 and other cheaters have done things to streamers like dropping peoples' ranks, banning them, filling their lobbies with bots and gifting them thousands of Apex packs, all of which are security issues.
