Here's a video of Guthrie sharing his knowledge of funk and being impressive again like always. Hope you find it useful. I do not own this footage, this video is uploaded for educational purposes.
Every time I see Guthrie play, I just want to yell “Don’t hold back!!” Seriously, he’s on such another level and is the most complete guitarists I’ve ever heard. I cannot understand why he doesn’t have more recorded works/albums; everything from him is a treat, but I feel like while he still has the chops the world is missing out on a lack of releases.
Sherman Kyle. I agree.I wish he would go full out especially at guitar jams with other top players. He deliberately holds back for fear of humiliating anyone.Ask Steve Vai😀
I was going to say this guy is one of the most talented musicians in any genre. Except that he plays every genre. Equal amazement in every one. And so generous with his talent, too.
Seriously how can anyone who lies guitar give thumbs down, this guy is probably the most accomplished guitarist on the planet , and have met Guthrie a few times a really nice and humble guy, great to talk to and just has a love of music..
Guthrie's skill is terrifying. He's so good at explaining technical things, I can imagine him being a wonderful one on one instructor too. Thanks for sharing this, I really enjoyed it! Kudos to the translator too for being so fast!
I actually bought a book he helped write on guitar playing. He is an incredible teacher, he has metaphors for days that really help understand how to play. He’s all around brilliant
As a guy who’s done a lot of traveling in places where I don’t speak the language, I’d say that a lot of personality comes across with tone of voice and facial expressions. I suspect Guthrie’s humble, relaxed, enthusiastic spirit comes through just fine.

@@notauniquehandle you’re right on there, had a guitar instructor turn me on to rhythms for guitar. Think of it this way, there are 2 different strokes, up and down.
