    It's the way she comes in, already looking at her watch and glancing away like she has better things to do elsewhere. Then the condescending expression when she offers him "Gourmando" - like you're trying to pacify a child with a treat. I love that Connor, the least of the siblings, is able to cut straight through her hauteur and put her in her place. She really is just "doing what her dad tells her", but has managed to convince herself that she is a real boss. The sad thing is Shiv is a very intelligent woman. What holds her back is the constant need for her father's approval, and delusions of grandeur where she believes she is smarter than she really is. I'd love to see her character get knocked down a peg, learn from her mistakes and then really come back roaring as the powerhouse she could potentially be.

    • @rossvolkmann1161
      @rossvolkmann1161 Před 2 lety +30

      Not really. Shiv's job here is to tell Connor "no". She does that. Connor whines and stomps his feet and threatens the family, but he leaves the room with nothing. At the start of the conversation he's offered an executive role at a major television network, but is so bad at negotiating that by the end of the conversation even that has been taken off the table.
      Connor's "leverage" is, at best, mutually assured destruction. Given that Logan chose to send his favorite son to prison rather than retire from his role, he doesn't seem like the kind of person who will lose that game of chicken. Not to mention that whatever Connor can accuse him of is certainly no worse than the accusations Logan is already publicly battling regarding his buddy Mo-Lester and the cruise rapes.
      If you think Connor won this interaction then you misunderstood the scene. He threw a temper-tantrum, showed his ass, and walked out of the room with nothing. The purpose of this scene is to show that Shiv is perceived as being weak to the point where even a powerless moron like Connor thinks he can push her around. But, you know, he can't.

    The thing that all these Siblings miss is to really play to each other's needs. Kendall in the 2nd episode while trying to woo his siblings to join him went on about the vision he has about the future, family leadership and company succession. I mean, that's a good speech but you need more than that to get siblings by your side. You need to ask what they really want. Like Shiv wanting to be important, same for Roman and Conor getting some help with politics.
    The same mistake is made here. Shiv knows what Conor really wants but still offers bullshit roles like a food network. Sometimes, if you wanna get something done quickly, just give em what they want.

    Shiv thinks she’s the shit. Don’t get me wrong, I wanted the kids to beat Logan and I loved the team up, but it was great seeing Shiv get screwed over at the end by Tom. She acts like the smartest in the room even though she has little to no business experience.

    Doesn’t Connor need Logan to bail him out for all the money he lost on Willa’s play? I would think that kind of minimizes the leverage he has against his dad.

      true but in the first episode logan apologizes to connor for calling him an embarrassment because he ‘needed to know where everyone is’ i think logan is desperate to get everyone on his side and not be betrayed again and connor is using that to his advantage here

      Logan needs Connors share's he has. Connor also has probably the most knowledge that can be used to destroy Logan if need be if he were to go nuclear.
