a beautiful thing, camaraderie combined with musical excellence, maybe prerequisite to achieving world class
It was great to see the previous PM Ross Walker march back with the band in PS position. Nice he could.share in the glory with Boghall as its a long process producing a. Grade 1 World Champion band over many years. Well done Boghall. Well deserved been a great 2023 season ..
Great work. When you're on a HIGH, just keep playin' your hearts out !!!!
THAT was just pure joy........! !
Breathtaking performance!
I'm so happy for them.
Well done World Champions 🏆
Great bunch of lads and lasses
Absolutely superb. Well done to you all. I love seeing the enjoyment this brings to everyone. Great stuff.
The joy from tenors joanna zara and emily at the last tune is brilliant to watch
Brilliant
Absolutely brilliant.
Congrats! Good luck in 3 months' time!
Brilliant video
Congratulations
amazing sound! I quite like the tenors facing each other
You can feel the joy
i was trying to think of somethinng to describe this and you hit it right on the head! business is done and you could hear the emotions, the tension, the reliefe all being released in this clip! awesome job!
There's something to be said for that. Having had the pleasure of walking off the Green as a World Champion (in a much lower grade!), you feel like you are playing with more gusto than you did in the ring. It's like all the tension has gone and only the joy remains....
Realy happy for you guys. I remember playing in the Hawick Royal British Legion pipe band during the late 70's and we were in Grade 3 along with Boghall and Bathgate. You beat us at all the majors but we finally managed to win at the Cowal Games. Your pipe major at the time was Bob Martin ( I think) and he came over to us and said to our late pipe major Brian Gillies " well done you bugger , you did it " Both bands were promoted to grade 2 the next year. Sadly the Hawick Legion band folded and I no longer play. Once again well done !!!!
As a non-piper but a classically trained professional violinist I think the #! rule for any pipe band is to make SURE the drones are in tune at all times and then the chanters can be accurately matched with the drones. The lessor bands don't have the unanimity of pitch.
Well yeah that's it. Difficult thing to get right
It's more like making sure the chanters are all in tune, and EVERYONE holds the pitch.
The drones are tuned after the chanters
Oops. I had it backwards, didn't I?
Nope, you were right. The overtones of the drones determine how to tune the notes of the chanters (unless you're using a special tuner designed to match the overtones). However, it's typical for one piper to act as a reference to tune everyone else's chanters. This reference piper's chanter is first tuned to match their drones' overtones. Then everyone else's chanters are tuned to match the reference piper's. Meanwhile there's someone going around tuning everyone's drones to match the pitch of the reference piper.
Fantastic stuff! What are the names of the pieces being played please?
Magnifique instrument mon rêve j'aimerais apprendre a en joué met je c pas où trouver kelkun qui en joue
What tunes are being played?👍
I think the lead drummer's first name is Kerr not Kyle.
You are absolutely right. Never complete descriptions late at night after a trip to Scotland....
It's OK, better to have a wrong name that can get corrected than no video at all. @@MrUlsterscot
The name of the first tune please 1:06
Seonaidh’s tune: it’s in the outlands book by Fred Morrison.
Brilliant
