- Pokemon is something that I feel like a lot of people can attach to a part of their lives. Whether it be due to fond memories, the simple yet infectious gameplay, or just enjoying the immersive world. Pokemon just has a way to grip you unlike any other game. One aspect of Pokemon that I find especially intriguing is the vast array of items washed away by time. Some served a niche purpose for their time, others were just there to add flavor, and there are a few whose real purpose will most likely never be known. Let’s go down the rabbit hole and take a look at the Pokemon items forever lost to time…

Fun fact: The person in Castelia City who transfers the Lock Capsule can also transfer the Legendary Beasts and Celebi from Gen 4 events, letting you use them much earlier than normal as well as setting up the events to capture Zoroark or get a gift Zorua. This was the only way to get the Zoroark line in Black and White, making it a de facto event Pokemon until B2W2 released.

I remember that event. I still have my shiny Entei and my celebi from that event. It was amazing! Especially the celebi event in heart gold and in pokemon black version.
Oak’s Letter was only unreleased in Diamond and Pearl, it was distributed in Platinum

yeah i was gonna say, Oak's Letter was also distributed in BDSP and the Azure Flute is always available in BDSP for anyone who finished PLA (where its also available)
It’s funny because the footage he uses in the video is from Plat too lol. I still have my save with the original Oak’s Letter, happy to have kept it
I love how the uploader replies to multiple comments but strangely none that point out this huge error. I remember commercials for oak's letter.
One of my favorite unused items is a surfboard item from Gen 1. It's called "??????", and was probably used in debugging. It just lets you surf without any surfing Pokémon in your party.
Yeah, I'm guessing that was probably added before the idea of field moves
Oaks letter was distributed back in Platinum, it was Diamond and Pearl that the event items were never distributed. Heck all the item distribution items were released on BDSP including Oaks letter and the Azure Flute, so they were made obtainable eventually. The Red chain and Magma stone likely were key items you'd obtain in the story of DPP early on, but likely were not needed after the story likely changed. The Starf and Lansat berries are actually very useful in making Poke blocks in gen 3 as they raise contest stats tremendously
Obtainable, but only during a certain time-frame. They are unobtainable as of current times.
I have an obscure item with a purpose that I can no longer use.
Back in XY, there was an NPC that mentions a special cupon that gives you a 50% discount for any clothing items you purchase but it only applies in one bulk of purchase. Meaning you can buy multiple stuff as a bulk but you can only use it once.
However, the cupon is nowhere to be seen in the entire game.
That item exist though. In a one time only event which involves the now closed, Pokemon Global Link. You can obtain the cupon.
Unfortunately, by the time I obtained the cupon, I already purchased all clothing items in the game.
The cupon is still in my Pokemon Y.
That sounds like it was actually lucky that you had purchased all clothes cuz now you still have the item! Youre probably one of very few who do still

Oh there was a reason the Azure Flute was scrapped. A very idiotic and nonsensical reason, but a reason nontheless.
"The Azure Flute was never distributed in the Generation IV games. Junichi Masuda revealed in an interview with Nintendo World Report in 2013 that the Azure Flute was thought to be too confusing for players to use, leading to the decision to not distribute it"

@@chaosvolt Well, I don't personally think going to the same place where you fought team galactic and stand on a tile is too hard of a task, but apparently Nintendo thought different. I never really understood it.
@@gabriellejacquiet9925 I'm referencing how the azure flute's alleged reason for being cut is a bit of a meme when you consider how hilariously convoluted a lot of other secrets can be (on top of undocumented core game mechanics but that's its own can of worms).
"too complicated" is hard to take seriously only a single generation after "the visual braille writing says you need a wailord and a relicanth in these specific slots in your party to obtain this legendary pokemon" just to give an example.

They actually distributed the enigma, Lansat, and starf berry in Gen 7 and I still have them in USUM

@@PokemonWoop I also remember a lot of Pokemon distributions in gen 6 that wouldn't make sense to have some specific other item holding Enigma/Lansat/Starf berries.
You get them in battle facilities
Many of the berries are obtainable in future games
Oak's letter was distributed in Platinum and BDSP
The Azure Flute is obtainable in Leyends Arceus and BDSP
I think you should have specified that if you already did with the red chain and magma stone

Pokerogue has done wonders for lock capsule and berry stocks
Lock capsule is my op in pokerogue. I've only found it twice once in classic and once on wave 470 of endless after resetting every wave for 150+ waves to do as many rerolls as possible each wave. I had to basically abandon a post 1k run because I couldn't get lock capsule.
One braincell between us pokerogue enjoyers.

You really have a natural talent for creating an atmosphere in your videos. It always sticks with me for a long time after watching them. Something about the editing, the ambient and minimalist music, the hazy background footage, it all evokes that vague nostalgic feeling. I would absolutely LOVE to see a longer-form video from you, or maybe someday even a short film or art piece, if you ever felt so inclined.
I wonder if the underwater ruins was going to be an event location in B2W2 to catch the 3 genies in their beast forms and Meloetta based on how the anime treated it.

Legends Z-A are based on Kalos so it is unlikely we'll learn anything about Unova from it but if the pattern continues, we should get Gen 5 remakes in Gen 10 which is likely to come out in a few years. Maybe we'll even get a Legends game based on Unova like how Legends Arceus was released with the Gen 4 remakes. I do hope they give us Black and White 2 content in the remakes though instead of just making it on the prequels like they did with the Gen 4 remakes. It would be really cool if you could have a split path and battle Roxie instead of Drayden like what happened in the anime. Having more than 8 gyms while keeping the 8 badge requirement would make the game a lot more fun by not forcing you to take a set path throughout your journey.
Wait, the nature pinch berries went on to be incredibly defining in VGC and Mirage Island is 1/63k per pokemon with different trainer IDs in your party right? What kind of clown show are we running here

I have my copy of pokemon sun and i have both the Lansat berry and the Starf berry in the hundreds cause of pure dedication and i plan to keep making more of them to transfer in the future.
I thought the Rowap berry was unheard of, until I saw a Run and Bun nuzlocker using it...
There was a method for getting the enigma berry in gen 6. It was an event held item or something

All but the god stone, lock capsule, the mails and the seals have been reused

Oaks letter is used...it was distributed.
I mean technically kyurem IS the original dragon it's the husk of it trying to build itself.we call it kyurem black and kyurem white after all the other 2 are just what split off.
