If you want to take advantage of the Derwent offer to get 6 free inktense pencils with any other purchase (and if you are in the UK) go to -
    www.derwentart.com/en-gb
At the checkout use the code FREEINK6
    Offer ends 19th June 2023
I have no involvement with this offer and I won't be getting any commission, it's just an offer which I saw and used for myself and thought it was a good enough offer to share!
If possible I'd like to keep my inktense pencils to just these 6 pencils (or maybe just add an extra couple of colours in future) so I wanted to experiment with how many colours can easily be mixed with such a limited selection of colours. I mostly focused on just the primary colours.

Basic colours used directly on paper - 2:06
Use wet brush on pencil tips - 3:38
Use wet brush to splatter colour - 4:52
Colours layered on top - 7:01
Blending colours side by side - 10:46
    Mix colours on a palette - 22:15

New subscriber here from Georgia in the US. I also enjoyed your experiment. I have the 72 intense set so I will pick out six of the colors and try your experiment. Keep on doing your videos. I like your manner and speaking style and would like to see more of what you come up with. 😺🙌

Thank you so much! I enjoyed doing these colour experiments but in the end I decided that I wanted more colours for convenience to use in my travel art kit. I ended up buying a second hand set of 24 (they look like they’d only been used once). Previously I had standard watercolour pencils in my kit but I like the inktense better so I swapped them out.

This video got lost in my Watch Later queue, so I am late to the game! It was so satisfying and I am totally going to make swatch leaflets to keep in my Traveler's Notebook! You always have such good ideas!

I'm excited to have been saved in a watch later queue! 😁
I enjoyed doing these colour experiments, but I feel I need to confess that at a later date, I bought a set of 24 for more convenience. (I bought them second hand on ebay, they look like they'd only been used once or twice)

Thank you so much! I confess, I’ve since bought a set of 24 inktense pencils for the convenience of having more colours, but I bought them second hand from eBay to avoid the full cost of a new set haha

I enjoyed this very much. I forget how many colours one can get out of just the primarys. I used to mix a lot when I started painting but now I have so many i don't need to mix as much. I kind of miss it 😊
I think when mixing the pencil on the paper I would draw them on top of eachother to avoid seeing the colours peek through the mix. They stick to the paper.
Thank you for sharing and for the reminder to mix more. ❤

This was brilliantly helpful. I used my Inktense exclusively for about a year and loved them but wasnt happy with the colour range. Now I am comfortable with colour mixing I want to go back to them so thankyou for this.

I love inktense pencils. I'm not finding the 28 new colors in the US but might just bite the bullet and pay the shipping from the UK.
I find using light layers works best to dissolve the pigment between layers. I use them a lot.

Thank you! I was trying so hard to make use of ONLY the 6 I got for free, but I’ve since bought a bigger set. I ended up buying a set of 24 on eBay. Looks like they’d only been used once, so I’m guessing the person either bought them and didn’t like them or maybe they were an unwanted gift. For now I’m planning to stick with 24…

@madebylora I have whole set syndrome🤣 But I truly love this product. I started with a set of 8 in a tin and instantly loved working with them. I love the double layer Derwent tins. I want to invest in the pans also. I'm not much of an artist but just love messing with it.

@@marytesta3003 have you seen Helen Cryer on CZcams? She does lots of tests and comparisons with different products including inktense. I never cease to be amazed by how she manages to make use of all the products she has. I know, for me, if I have too much I get overwhelmed and don’t use any of it haha
