The fact that this theory is better than the actual "story" of the real game is sad.
I like to stick to the whole "his whole family died and now he's a lonely dad who probably went insane as he tries to fell the gapes of his dead family members by kidnaping kids" stuff, I mean it Does make sense and fit w the lore, and it's not that complicated

By the way spoilers!
from what I understand from the little research I've done.
The mother dies in a car crash, leaving the neighbor (husband) incredibly depressed. They have 2 kids a girl and a boy. The boy is also really upset about his mother's death, and in anger takes it out on his sister.
The kids are playing and end up on the roof (I have no idea how) and the boy accidentally shoves his sister to hard, and she falls off the roof and dies.
The Neighbor buries his daughter and not wanted to lose his son (his only family left) and locks him in the basement.
Unfortunately because the neighbor has lost his mind the son starves to death.
That's the background and lore that I found, pretty dark stuff.
@@colbedavey5851 from the "Hide and Seek" game, it's shown that Aaron, the son, lures Maya, the daughter, up to the roof and purely by accident, pushes her off because Mr. Peterson, after his wife's death, became more reclusive instead of comforting his children, who keep in mind, lost their mother as well, and Aaron, felt lost even though Maya tried to cheer him up. *Yikes, this guy's backstory is kinda sad*

Here’s an interesting consideration - what if the whole “breaking into the house” thing is a metaphor? Let’s say that the house is symbolic of the neighbor’s mind, and then you, as the player, have noticed that something is deeply wrong with it (the neighbor’s general creepiness). So you are trying to get the neighbor to tell you what’s wrong by asking him questions that lead him to talk to you without realising. Every time he catches you in the game emulates each time he realises what you are doing and gets you to go away. That’s why he doesn’t bury you outright straight away, only when you reach the door (what’s bothering him) does he seal you off forever (burying you).
Probably not true, but still, thought it was an interesting idea!

I never thought about this before, but the hiding room could be in the basement to protect the family from would be ‘rescuers’. He may have brainwashed them that if anyone comes down they need to hide, or maybe they don’t want to be found. She may have screamed when they got checked on, worried that the player was the one who opened the door.

Bedcorn Theory is creating a suitable fake lore to fit into the game current state. So every theory isn't 100% true it's just there to give us satisfaction that the game clues have been solved.
Yeah. his "Arrow to the knee" theory created an entire conspiracy around medieval surgery. When in actuality, "taking an arrow to the knee" meant that you are getting married/already got married. But we really can't bag on him too much. He does say "its just a theory", like all the time.

There's a hello neighbor book! It turns out when the developers said "your returning to your childhood home" it's not the neighbour's house, it the one your moving into, when your character was about 12 he lived in that same house. And, the neighbor wasn't a clown, he designed theme parks.
Edit: the book is called "hello Neighbor: missing pieces", also, I believe another book just came out, I forgot the name though...

I think you mean "Demon", not "DEAMON".
It's really only demonic if you pronounce it as "Six six six." If you pronounce it as "Six-hundred and sixty six," it's fine.
That’s actually the early player model. It reused the neighbors body and animations, but had a different head. It was first in the prototype to pre-alpha and it wasn’t used in alpha 1 but it was in the files.
