- In today's video, I'm sharing a very personal and important part of my health journey-my preoperative visit for my initial surgery to treat my lipedema. In this video you will see my doctors speak candidly about my lipedema diagnosis, what has to be done to treat it, and my treatment plan. As a stage four, type 2 lipedema patient I hope this video raises much-needed awareness about this condition.
Meet the Doctors:
Dr. David Amron: The amazing surgeon who will be performing my lipedema surgeries. He is the pioneer of lipedema surgery in the United States and is the founder of the Advanced Lipedema Treatment Program and The Roxbury Institute.
Dr. Shawn Moshrefi: He will be handling the plastic and reconstructive surgeries in the subsequent procedures.
Where is it happening? The surgery is taking place at The Roxbury Institute which is recognized as a global leader for lipedema treatment and care through its Advanced Lipedema Treatment (ALT) program.

Thank you for being a spokeswoman for lipedema! I am in tears watching this. My mother weighed over 300 lb. At her death and was undiagnosed. I have it as does my daughter. This disease is horrible emotionally and physically. I wish all the medical community knew about it.
There are other youtubers who have documented their lipedema journies, too, if you are interested to see more individual paths.
And I’m trying to learn and understand this as I have lipedema. And cellulitis as well.

He’s going to make hundreds of thousands off of this, he’s even teaching Anna’s followers how to manipulate insurance to pay for it.
Big pharma has officially completely infiltrated this platform.
If people would learn how to eat and excercise these crooks would be out of business.

Yes, it doesn’t matter what she does. Even when she started exercising they weren’t content. They couldn’t even be happy for her.

Girl, you're gonna feel so much better after everything is all said an done with. The pain will be worth the end results. I had rny gastric bypass and dropped 160lbs then had a full body lift around my waist, best thing i ever did for myself! Yes, it was FOR MYSELF.

Did your insurance cover the body lift?
@@vickimanager - no, unfortunately it did not, however when I had it done it was the best 10K I've ever spent. I think if I would have waited longer and documented some of the skin issues I was I (rashe, etc) was having it would have been covered ( this was 2009), but I didn't want to wait. Like I said I did this for me. I was single at the time when I did this and the surgery was a breeze. Not that painful. Taking the staples out hurt more than anything and pulling the drain tubing was weird but didn't hurt. 15 years later still have a flat, tight stomach
I don't suffer from Lymphedema but I am a plus size woman. You are an awesome person to let us go with you on your journey with you. Some people are so mean and as a adults it is very sad they are are. Your a beautiful person and it is amazing bc I am sure some of your viewers are experiencing the same. Thank you so so much for sharing this journey. I've made my first appt for a lipedema dr in my area to hopefully get some answers as well. I do have you to thank for that. I still have a lot of anxiety going and showing my body but I need to start feeling better.
I wish people wouldn't leave negative comments. Anna is being very brave showing all of this. Even if she is partnering with the dr/clinic. This is a real issue that lots of people have and need to learn about.

Dr amron is a dermatologist who has never published any research or papers on lipidema. A legend in his own mind.

Not every great Doc publishes. I know more than a few, one who saved my life. I'm not talking ER Docs type of saved my life, I'm talking odd, quirky, unknown sub specialties that no one's ever heard of saved my life.
Some Docs just love their work,, not the accolades.
Why take the time to criticize someone you don't know anything about? He sounds very knowledgeable on this disease.

I had no idea about the disease of lipodema and how complex it was. I can’t tell you how much more I admire you and yet feel so sorry you have to go thru this. Mind you, I’m not feeling sorry for you per se because I know you wouldn’t want that. I watched your surgery video yesterday and was flabbergasted that you got up and walked a mile, kept yourself busy and positive. I could have sworn I’ve seen videos of people who had liposuction and couldn’t get out of bed afterwards. Well done, you.

I can’t with your way. I had two surgerys for my lipodema stage II, 3rd one coming up and now am doing keto to SOMEHOW reduce my pain. This disease literally pains your body by constant inflammation, it is so CRUCIAL to reduce your calories and eat different foods to avoid that!
I have no idea what kind of delusion you are in, but seeing this as an actual patient who does the by you claimed „everything“ is more than a slap in the face. No, you did not do EVERYTHING. I see how you are with food, how your mood is determined by your sugar intake, it is obvious to everyone. I don’t get how you can have a platform and play the victim of the state you are in. It doesn’t bring us anything, as lipodema patients, to have you as a self-declared spokesperson who clearly knows nothing about your own disease! And yeah, I get it, truly, I’ve been there: I also thought surgery would finally put an end to this nightmare. But it doesn’t. The pain doesn’t go away, the surgery is fucking painful, skin may never ever go back in place afterwards.
Advising your way as „great“ and „inspiring“ while you know NOTHING is fucking harmful. But all for the coin, I guess.

Just a question: since you partnered with them, are you making money off of this?
Usually when CZcamsrs partner they will sometimes either get ‘it’ (whatever the product or service is) for free OR earn varied amounts of $ with whoever they partner with. I only know this because of another CZcamsr I sometimes watch explained it.Of course I don’t know this lady’s private arrangement 😊

Just so you know, she isn’t getting it free. She hired someone to advocate with her insurance to get it paid, as apparently they baulk often assuming it’s just cosmetic. I imagine 6 surgeries is going to cost a fortune!

Would love to talk to you. I just had surgery in November for stage 4. Your Dr is wonderful, but there is a lot of things that they can't tell you because they have not gone through the surgery themselves. I send you prayers and love.

What kept her from treatment for 18 years to progress from type 2 to type 4?
Docs in the US, particularly, are not well educated on lipedema. It can take a long time to find a good doc.
If I remember correctly, she wasn't diagnosed with it until more recently.
The doctor in this video said she was diagnosed at like 18 or 20 years old though and Anna is a world traveler we see her travel to many countries even if the US is behind it doesn’t make sense to me why it took so long when she had access to doctors in Finland, Spain,Portugal, the UK, Italy, the Caribbean, and many other places outside the USA. We saw her travel to all these places in just the last 4 years or so.
@@Miltonthemilkdud Incorrect. At 4:15 he asked basically if at 18 or 20 she noticed that’s when her body started changing.
Also, quite possibly she was inquiring about it on some of her recent trips. We don’t know. Sweden (she recently visited) is very progressive with treatment. But it’s expensive to travel all the way over there for surgeries and recovery, etc.
Do I think she eats the cleanest? No, but lipedema IS a thing and it IS hard to deal with and it IS under-diagnosed in the states.
