11yrs later, mine is still going strong and you’re video was very helpful! Thanks
Same here!
11 years latter and I still come to your video. Thanks
From the manual - PUSHing on the edge of battery cover is the way to do it. The bottom of the battery is rounded so it pops out when you push on the edge. That way you don't mark up the battery cover by using a sharp tool.
THANK YOU! I normally rely on my husband as my bike mechanic but he was out of town and the battery died (good tip on changing it annually, will start doing that now). The wheel size guide was invaluable - I would have been so lost without it. Your instructions were so crystal clear that my two boys (10 and 6) and I were able to start and finish successfully in minutes w
Brad:
Thank you very much for posting this. As with most manuals that have to offer instructions in SIX languages, there is little to no detail, especially concerning the initial set up sequence. I doubt if I would have figured out back button-pushing sequences without your video. Thanks again,
Pat in Chicago
Thanks, I've never had this much trouble changing a battery. Most appreciated.
Thank you for this video. I hate programming my CatEye because I always forget. Thanks!
Thanks very much Brad, you saved me some good time this morning resetting the computer again this year. Like you I have always been changing once every year or two, just enough to forget it.
One tip is that I always roll the wheel (as suggested by one of the other commenters) rather than rely on the chart. I make sure tire pressure is right and have someone help hold the bike while I sit on it.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video for those of us who have long since lost their instructions.
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this, it is much appreciated, especially for showing how to re-input the miles one has already run up on the computer that you loose when taking out the old battery!
I've used this video the last two times I've needed to reset my Strada. Thanks!
Thanks, I always forget as well being the batteries seem to last a while. this time couldn't find my manual but your video saved me lots of time.
This is video is so helpful. Every year I come back for my refresher.
This was a really helpful video. Thanks for walking us through all of the steps. Saved my sanity ... at least for now.
Back again as I lost my actual computer but luckily was able to order just the computer off of amazon. Didn't want to have buy the entire kit. Thanks again for this video.
thanks for posting this Brad. your video helped me a lot. i finanlly changed my battery after the winter months. now ready to spring ride tomorrow. thanks again!
Thank you! This computer came installed on a used bike I bought and I had no idea how to change the battery or reset the thing after it died in the fall...didn't matter when it was on the trainer and now it's about time to take it back outside.
Thanks for taking the time to make this. Changed my battery and reset everything in less than 5 minutes.
Thanks for sharing this... great to have this as with out this video I would not have been able to set back up my device after a battery change!
Thanks for making this video, I was just fighting with the battery cover for all of this morning until I remember youtube! Sure enough I found your video. thanks!
big thanks.....every time the time changes here I go thru the same trial and error stuff, this vid. helps a lot!!
Thank you, you are far more use than the instructions!
Many Thanks, so much easier than pissing about with the manual.
this was very helpful - thanks! (and thanks for the wheel size table)
Saved me for ANOTHER year. Thanks!
You by far did the best job showing me how to do this.
Thanks for uploading this. It's exactly what I need to know. That little battery cover is so frustrating.
Awesome video to help reset the bloody odometer which is not explained in the instructions at all. Thanks!
Great instruction! Thanks so much. I found that a small paring knife works best to remove the battery door while preserving the waterproof gasket.
I have had the Strada Double Wireless since last summer. Just like this model only with cadence included. Once set up it has been the easiest and most useful cyclometer I've ever used.
Per the instructions: just push in at the top of the battery cover (where it says "TOP" if you rotate the cover right side up) and it pops right up, no prying.
Yup, I was all set to pry it but checked the comments first. The cover opened right up when I pushed on TOP. Strange that it doesn't say PUSH HERE :-)
Excellent alternative to instruction manual! Thanks for the help! Very informative.
Thanks for the vid pal, was in a rush and had to set it quick.
This was very helpful. Thank you so much!
Just what I needed Thank You!
Man Thanks a bunch for this video....just replaced my battery after a hard earned 10,700 miles. Of course it took me 4 years to do it but l sure hated looking down and see 0 again....thanks to you l was able to figure out how to get the odometer portion reset. Love Cateye products but don't know why they have to make em so confusing.
thank you ..this was driving me CRAZY!
A big thank to this person
Thanks, this is one of the more difficult Bike Computers to set and I had the wrong tire size too.
I was looking for way to remove the battery cover and found your post. I just found it's easier to remove than what you showed. You don't need to pry it off . All you need to do is push down on top part with thumb and it flips right out. The rest of your video is good. Thanks.
Thank you-this was very helpful
THANKS!!
Didn't have the exact instructions and was not sure about how to get the cover off. You confirmed for me that you just pry the F'er off! You made it easier for me to set all the settings as well. Thanks again!
This video is the best explanation for speedometer > thank you so much 😊
Great video. Thank you so much for practical video.
Oh Man, you have saved me much frustration!! many thanks. Richard, Hebden Bridge, UK
Thanks a lot ! You saved my hubby hours of torture !
Setting this thing can drive you nuts! The instructions need a lot of work too. I finally just threw it out and got a different one.
Getting this for Easter can't wait
Thanks for sharing. I had to watch this video because I can never remove the computer from its base. Its a bit tricky everytime i need to change the battery.
thanks for posting this video. somehow my manual has every language but english! i couldn't figure out how to set the time.
you rock!
As noted by several commenters below, you don't need a screwdriver to remove the battery cover. Just push the bottom edge of the cover as clearly illustrated in the manual. More importantly, however, is that the cover is meant to be water resistant. If you take a screwdriver to the cover as this gentleman did, you risk compromising the water resistance.
That didn't work for me.
Thank you! Very helpful!
SO much better than the instructions - thanks!
Thanks for the vid! Little tip though; If you use that small screwdriver as a lever to spin the battery cover by using suitable force instead of levering it out, I find that easier....
Thanks for posting this! It was useful for me.
thanks man really thank u so friggin much grabbed one today and cudnt set the time but now i did THANK YOU happy biking
That helped saved me half the time.
Hey Earnie, Hey Bert. lol
thanks for the video man, i just wanted to see this model in action and couldnt find it anywhere. thanks again
Hey, thanks for the video. I used a steak knife and was able to pluck out the cover leaving only a small mark. I made sure to use just the point and kept it in the same area. Once I got the damn thing off I took a file and create a small slot on the edge of the cover where prying it out had left a mark. Next time it shouldn't be such a pain to get the cover off. Thanks for the rest of the info as well and best to you. :)
Great video, explained well, thank you!
Thanks - this was VERY helpful!!!!
Great video, Thanks!
I prefer using the manual for the settings - I just googled cateye strada...It is a bonus to know about the ability to re enter the odometer...I didn't notice that on the PDF. But I think your video is very helpful when it comes to mounting! Thanks
Okay, just saw the last 45 seconds of your video. Thanks!
Thanks for this video. Most appreciated.
Thanks man that was great. Cateye should pay you.
thanks dude you were a big help really thanks
hey i found my manual and it is super easy to get the back off without a screwdriver
just push down on the batter back at the top of the cover and it pops out really really easy
Yes, youre right. It worked exactly like you said, no tools needed. TYVM
I have changed this battery before, but I really can't remember. Thank you!
You are the man thank you so much!
@chrospoke Yes - I like this computer very much, easy to use, numbers are easy to read and it hasn't died yet and I've had it several years now.
Thanks for the video!
Just an update for you. Don't remove the battery cover with a sharp object. Just press down on the edge where it reads "top" and it pops out with ease.
Cheers Kermit!🐸
Cameron Kirkland I need that emoji! Thanks!
A big help, thanks!
Thank you! I could not for the life of me get the odo setting to go in!!
Brill!!!! Lost my manual years n years ago!! Seemples!!
thank you Brad
good explanation, thanks
Thank you!
Thanks. This was helpful. It’s the end of 2019 and the written steps are still wrong. I may not ever have gotten this computer to work correctly w/o this video. It didn’t help the transmitter came with a dead battery.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Thanks so much!!
In the video you changed it from kmh to mph. I googled the wheel size and there was a website that had 4 digit #s for Mph and 4 digit #s for kmh and they were different for the same tire size. I used the 4 for mph and my ride is accurate. Just thought I'd throw that out there. But the video was a great help I wouldn't have figured it out with out it.
Eracerbx how did you change it from km to mph ??
i have this and i love it! theres a new cat eye double wirless strada from rei. But its $100! i love this computer and your video is very helpful thankyou!
alright thanks a lot! definately getting this.
One tip: instead of trying to pry the battery cover...simply push down on one edge, usually just using your finger, and the other side will pop up a bit. Cateye has the manuals online in the event you need them.
Thanks great Help
Thanks Kermie
@chrospoke i just bought and installed it. a bit ghetto, but it works, couldn't put it on my Jamis, it wont mount to the fancy shaped chainstay in such a way where it would read both cadence and speed. the cadence magnet is a pain it the arse to install as you need to have it almost touching the sensor, which is hard to do considering everything mounts to the bike using zip-ties. But, after considerable fiddling around, i did get it to work, and well...it works..on a trek 7.5 disc(if that helps)
@kosmosleha Look in the description - the number doesn't go by just your wheel diameter, it also goes by the size of the tire on the rim. Look at the 24x numbers and choose yours. Or - roll the wheel one revolution and measure how many mm that is.
A box knife is narrow enough to remove the battery cover. Just changed my battery after viewing this upload. Thanks.
Thank you sir
Thanks
great thanks.
You know - that's a good idea... I've tried to measure one revolution of the wheel by spraying the tire with paint, but never had any luck, but riding a distance - like a measured mile on the highway and doing the math to figure out the right number for your actual tire and the air pressure you inflate it to and your weight would be the way to go. I'll have to try that.
Thank you so much for the information about the Cateye bike computer. I would like to know how to calculate the size of the wheel and where I can find the info on the bike or the wheel. I have 25-822 and 700-25c writing on the wheel. 😊
thanks alot bro you were very helpfull thanks alot bro
Thanks. Video made it ez
thanks very much! i couldn't even remember there was a battery cover. anyway, i used a super sharp shun knife, and it popped the battery cover off easily. wtf did we used to do before youtube and the internets???
