    So it looks like I missed a couple of things in my analysis. I’ll clear those up here:
    Wings are actually not the only device to disappear - others like the balloon can as well (so you can’t get infinite height), but you usually won’t come across it in regular gameplay.
    It seems that batteries actually disappear in the order they’re attached instead of by size, I just happened to attach the 3 small ones first.
    I also received a science lesson from you guys about how hot air balloons need the outside air to be cooler so the hot air can rise😅
    I think some of these discrepancies took place because I wrote the script relatively soon after the game released… so we found out more about how things worked while I was editing. I will be more thorough next time I make a video like this.

      I also had small wheels disappear when I drove around with my tank for a very long time (something between 30 and 60 min). It suddenly started flashing like wings or balloons. And: Balloons disappearing was a big nuissance for me because I regularly glued bundled wood in the opening and lit it on fire to get "permanent" lift. That also stopped my plans for building an airship using the boats on Tenoko Island. I got one to fly with 6 balloons with the burning wood.

    5:00 Hot air rises because it's less dense than relatively cooler air. Since the air inside and outside the balloon are the same temperature, it won't rise. The game happens to agree in this case, though I doubt this was programmed intentionally.

    • @keatonfox1874
      @keatonfox1874 Před rokem +227

      To elaborate further in case anyone was curious, hot air is less dense because the molecules are moving faster, and thus take up more space. Imagine a room full of kids bouncing all around. They represent hot air molecules. Fewer kids fit in the room because they're all running into each other constantly. If you calm them down (representing cooling molecules), suddenly you can fit more in the room because they're now able to stand closer together.
      Just don't ask me to explain why a room full of excited children would float on top of a room of calm children...

    Slight addendum for rockets; this applies to fans, too (sort of.) It will never increase height, but that doesn't mean you don't need more rockets. It's about weight; heavier devices WILL need more rockets. I'm pretty sure as long as you have enough to life -at all-, it will always give the same height, but heavier devices sometimes need 2 or more rockets to even be able to take off.

      @@dokuujin1851Sorry, let me clarify. It's possible to take off with rockets, and still not get as far as you could have possibly gotten by attaching more rockets. Weight does effect it, but it isn't a binary factor, there's a scale to it depending on the weight of what you're lifting. The best way to test this is to use the floating platforms along with rockets. Test the difference between using one rocket and two, or four, and notice it makes a difference.

    Thrust for things like fans, rockets, and balloons work by 2 main factors. First is the power; how much weight it can move, and second is the max velocity. If you have enough power to move at the max velocity of the device, you will not move faster by adding more. 1 rocket is the same as 20 rockets when the weight you're launching is well within what 1 rocket can handle.

      This is correct. The first "mythbusting" is wrong. You can prove this by using the giant floating platforms, while it's true that 4 rockets will disappear at the same time thus carrying the platform to the same initial height, the 4 rockets will leave behind larger inertia, the platform will keep moving up for much, much longer, and the final height will be much higher

    The two big wheels actually do use twice as much as the single wheel. You tested from when the green ran out but the red part of your battery is actually still juice in it. It is just showing you how fast the battery is draining. If you waited until both were completely dark then it would have been a perfect 2:1 ratio

    • @gr3enmachin369
      @gr3enmachin369 Před rokem +5

      It's interesting how many people here think this is the case. The endpoint really doesn't matter as long as it's the same for both tests. If 2 wheels used twice as much energy, the time would still be twice as fast with any endpoint. The difference is just much larger the longer you make the endpoint.

    • @Deniolia

    • @IceBloo
      @IceBloo Před rokem +7

      @@gr3enmachin369 not really. I’m not gonna claim it’s 2:1 because I haven’t tested it myself but the red part is wider when the drain is bigger. So if you end it on the left side of the red part it’s less accurate. For example say if something drains super fast and the red part is as wide as an entire bar that would make it so the left part will touch the line the instant you turn it on. Whereas something that has half the drain would take X amount of time for the red bar to touch it on the left. That would mean one thing took 0 seconds to drain and the other thing would take infinity times more time to drain.
      You have to test by draining it so that the bar itself is completely black to get an accurate value.
      To better illustrate it, imagine if the red part signals how much power is drained in a second. And let’s say one device takes 8 seconds to drain a bar. When you turn it on it’ll be green for 7/8 of it and red for 1/8. It’ll take 7 seconds for the red part to touch the left side of the bar. If you use two of the same device and it drains twice as fast the red bar would start at 1/4 of the bar and the green would be 3/4. Draining at 2 bars a second it would take 3 seconds for the red part to touch the left part of the bar. That’s 3 seconds vs 7 when it should be 4 seconds vs 8. It won’t be the same ratio simply because you use the same endpoint. The red bar changing width makes a significant difference. It might not use twice the power still but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t test the most accurate way possible. Better way would be to test it with a zonai battery or from a game save with no upgrades and see how long the full battery drain takes.

      @gr3enmachin369 Před rokem +4

      @Ice Blue Someone said almost the exact same thing to me in the other comment where i explained this. Although the correction about what is considered the endpoint is correct (it is after the red and not the green), you can see the difference in the widths of the red areas is almost negligible in this experiment, which actually reinforces his statement about scaling down extra energy usage with each wheel. If 2 wheels used twice as much energy, that red area would be twice as wide.

    The wing is NOT the only Zonai device that will disappear after being used for a certain amount of time.
    The standard hover bike that seems to be everyone's favorite vehicle does the same thing, it just lasts a looooot longer.
    I found this out because I was hunting around for the light dragon to grab the mastersword and didn't realize it was waaaaaaaay up in the air so I was flying around all over hyrule closer to the ground. It took, I don't recall exactly, 20-30 minutes of use. Maybe even a little longer, but eventually my hover bike did the same thing where it flashed green a few times then despawned.
    While this time limit is so long it "should" never really be a problem, it does absolutely 100% happen.
    Also, the Hot air balloon one makes perfectly logical sense. It would not and SHOULD not fly in a hot environment. The whole principal that makes hot air balloons work in the first place is that the INTERIOR is hotter than the EXTERIOR. If the temperature inside the balloon is the same air temperature as the air outside, it would not fly. Even Avatar the Last Airbender knew this when they made their cartoon because when Zuko's hot air balloon flew over a boiling lake, the air around them was so hot the balloon crashed because it could no longer fly.

    Attaching a powerful weapon to a homing cart allows it to smack enemies with the weapon instead of its face. They do a lot of damage that way... also autobuild keeps the damage of whatever weapon you attached to it, so it can do some CRAZY damage with relatively few zonaite. Also, frost emitter added on makes it quite deadly against even silver enemies. 3 part powerhouse that fights for you.

    • @sinteleon
      @sinteleon Před rokem

      Hm... does weapon special attributes apply to those planted on zonai devices? Granted not all of the would be applicable, but some might (e.g. bursting procs for forest keeper)

    • @njihjkzero2829
      @njihjkzero2829 Před rokem +1

      @Sinteleon unsure. I don't think the elemental properties of any weapon work right (I tried with ice and no luck) but the gerudo weapons I tried were able to consistently one shot me with like 20+ hearts. I think the damage works, but fused items don't, so the bursting forest weapons probably don't actually burst.

    • @njihjkzero2829
      @njihjkzero2829 Před rokem +3

      @Sinteleon after some testing, it does not apply certain special effects. Any special properties granted by the fused item (puff shrooms, for instance) simply don't work. Also, the weapon in question does still lose durability, though I found that the royal weapons x2 bonus was NOT applied to the damage. It should have one shot me at a full 40 hearts (176 listed damage) but did not. In comparison, my gerudo weapon with 130 damage did exactly 32.5 hearts, which was the expected result. So, I think the only real weapons that should be applied are likely the gerudo weapons. That or gloom spear + gloom spear for the obscene length of the weapon, but it's honestly more of a burden than anything else. TL;DR, gerudo weapons are the best for the death roomba.

I don't know why zonai device life spans are measured in frames, and I'm not entirely sure how it's counted when it comes to the wing, but I will assume that it counts the frames that it's gliding, since sitting still on the ground doesn't seem to make them despawned, at least not the ones that are spawned "naturally" in the game world.

    5:14 actually this does make sense. Hot air rises, but notably above air that is colder. When all the air is hot you''ll still get a lil lift from convection currents, as seen by the balloon staying up right, but you need air to be hotter beneath the catching area of the balloon to start pulling it higher.

  • @oldmetalhippyoldmetalhippy1971

    Love your video! About the hot air balloon, IRL physics, it's not necessarily the hot air that makes a balloon rise. It's the difference in density. "Hot" air is expanded and less dense than the cooler denser air around it, so it rises. In a hot environment the air inside the balloon and outside are the same temperature and density so it doesn't rise. unless you put a flame device and make the internal air even hotter and less dense. That one got me at first but physics.

It’s not based on distance. And rockets and cooking pots disappear after use as well. So there’s at least 4 devices that disappear.
