Splendid list. I don't know Holy Grail so I'll be giving that a listen! I never really got into Dark Angel, I found their sound a bit muddy. Enjoyed watching them live though and Gene Hoglan killed it on the drums. All the rest are killer and would make at least my long list. Recently checked out the Power Trip album which was excellent, doesn't quite make my list though. i'll avoid duplicate bands otherwise half the Exodus catalogue would be on there lol...Quite a few newer bands make my list but they all slay so they deserve their place. 1. Exodus - Bonded By Blood 2. Slayer - Reign In Blood 3. Meliah Rage - Kill To Survive 4. Metallica - Ride The Lightning 5. Vektor - Black Future 6. Kreator - Phantom Antichrist 7. Bestial Invasion - Divine Comedy: Inferno 8. Sepultura - Beneath The Remains 9. Sodom - Genesis XiX 10.Demonztrator - Sinister Forces Of Hatred 11.Legion Of The Damned - The Poison Chalice 12.Angelus Apatrida - Hidden Evolution 13.Anarchy - The Spectrum Of Human Emotion (my current fave of 2024) 14.Extinctcide - Woods Of Fire 15.Traitor - Knee Deep In The Dead 16.Destruction - Infernal Overkill 17. Killdozer - Seeds Of Vengeance 18. Hexenhaus - Deja Voodoo 19. Coroner - No More Color 20.Overkill - The Grinding Wheel HM's Voivod - Killing Technology Angel Dust - Into The Dark Past Biowarfare - Wiping Out Human Race Prayers Of Sanity - Doctrine Of Misanthropy Kobold - Chaos Head Metal Church - Metal Church It could go on forever this list lol..
Great list Pete, definitely check out the Holy Grail album it’s great , your list is a good blend of new and old, I’d pained me leaving off a lot of the newer thrash bands , but I went with albums I had more history with . I’m assuming Exodus is your favourite thrash band lol I might do another list of top thrash metal albums of just new era bands separate from this all time list series 🤘🏻
Great list. I'm definitely not an expert on thrash metal and it is not my favorite subgenre of metal, but I do loves me some good thrash which encompasses other styles. If I had a list I would definitely include '80s Metallica, Megadeth, Overkill, Annihilator, and Slayer. Nightmare Logic is a great pick, by the way. I'm old...school, so I usually prefer '80s style thrash that is laden with heavy and speed elements and with as little punk rock as possible. I would pick albums from the usual suspects: And Justice for All, Master of Puppets, Peace Sells, Rust in Peace, Alice In Hell, Never Neverland, Metal Curch (s/t), Taking Over, The Years of Decay, Horrorscope, Forbidden Evil, Reign in Blood, South of Heaven, Seasons in the Abyss, Arise and a few others.
@@kevinbrown1893 thanks man , all your picks are all great , thrash was the easiest sub genre for me to start series with since it’s my favourite sub genre , 90% of my list I could pick right away , classic albums that have always been my favourites for many years. And yeah had to put nightmare logic is just too good. I’m trying to to decide what sub genre to do next , cheers 🤘🏻
Sick! List! You can’t go wrong with any of those albums. Power Trip deserves to be up there. They helped a lot of kids to get into thrash. Cheers Jer
Thanks man, and yeah they definitely exposed new generation to thrash for sure, such a beast of an album , cheers 🤘🏻
