I switched to this from S21. Moto is superior for what I want. It's just more intuitive. I bought a Pixel 4 XL for $109 from Ebay and sent it to Verizon for $700 off. I got mine for $290 total as a result. I prefer the fast snappy screen, more plastic older gorilla glass which is flexible and won't crack and break when you drop it (phone is also in a case so I don't care about colors). The phone is just the perfect almost pure Android experience. It's too bad it won't sell well because it's better than flagship Samsung from a usability standpoint.
@@ilikedogs8867 battery life is excellent and it charges fast with the charger they give you.. Camera is adequate. I don't use the camera a lot on phones, but the few times I took nature pics or pics of stuff I'm selling online, it was fine. What I really like is how fast the interface is. It's truly a great phone if you want something easy to use and fast. I primarily use CZcams, Web browsing, Amazon, some basic games and online stuff for finance like banking and stock trading. Phone is great for these things. It has a beautiful screen and like I said, it's fast. I'm very happy with the purchase one month in.
It also supports 68w charging. I just ordered the edge plus 5g UW 12gb/ 256gb. I can't wait to use ready for with a Linux distro with a vnc viewer. This video review is half ass trash. I also ordered the folio/ stylus bundle.
@anyone. How's the camera at night taking pictures? Does the light make it blurry or is it lil crisper?
@@partycrashers22 it's ok at night pics, but apple and pixel are better. It's probably comparable to Samsung. I'm not much of a camera user. I take pics when I'm selling something online.
How is it on phone calls? I had a Motorola G Power from 2020 and got rid of it because of horrible call quality and reception.
I still don't get why a headphone jack and micro SD storage isn't featured here. You would think Moto would want to differentiate themselves from the pack by offering these features...
@@droiddevx03 yup. I'll never give it up
@@droiddevx03 your really happy with losing more features, accessories and paying the same or more ? Lmao I'm sure you were excited when they stopped including power bricks with phones too đ€Ą
@@droiddevx03 Bluetooth is still slow as fuck and wireless headsets will never bypass the audio quality of a wired set... There is no reason for phones to not include a headphone jack.
On the upside, you can use your own high end USBC DAC instead of relying on the not as good DACs built into phones. But I get your point.
@@larsv9907 Exactly that's why I invested in a Sony NW-A105 for my musical needs. Tired of piss poor music quality from a phone, now I can use the Edge Plus for other needs.
Got mine the other day ,I really like it ,I'm very happy with it .
Great job!! Great review. You just save my times and money. I almost go buy one on black Friday. Keep up awesome reviews. Thanks!!
As of 3/2023 $475.00 direct from Motorola. That's a game changer. Dirt cheap for a outstanding phone
Is it just me, or the desktop mode wasn't even mentioned? It might actually be one of the main reasons for (many like) me to go and buy this phone
Desktop mode?
@@BDV000 motorola ready for
@@BDV000 yes. It's apparently quite well implemented, in some aspects even better than the Samsung's Dex. Essentially, you connect your phone to a monitor or TV or whatever, add a keyboard and mouse (Bluetooth or via a little hub) and you can operate it as a desktop computer. Think Windows or MacOS or GNU+Linux or ChromeOS. Or Don't think about them, look some video on CZcams ^_^
@@BriefNerdOriginal thank you explaining this. Wow I sure do miss my Moto
The Snapdragon 8 has no problem with heating if used normally. It only heats up if you hit it with synthetic and extremely heavy, sustained benchmarking and such, it probably runs cooler than the 888 in any normal use including gaming. Probably. As for this phone itself, I'm annoyed I wasn't aware of it before I ordered a new Samsung - the Ready For desktop environment and other features around that makes this an extremely attractive phone for people who like to use their phones docked. I'm also disappointed that you didn't even *mention* that.
@@rayquazahere8529 Yeah, Dave2D touched on this in a video, and it seems like the 8 is better than 888 in normal use for battery life and with games it doesn't overheat, only when you peg everything to 100% in a synthetic benchmark is there an issue, and who does that? Just testers.
I will always love moto always have in my opinion they have always been one of the best Android out there
I've got a moto gpower and love it haven't had a single problem with it and the camera is awesome
not the best flagship, if you want a good cost benefit flagship phone, I'd recommend getting the 20fe from Samsung
My main issue is support and updates. Why pay the same price for a Motorola for 2 years of updates when I get get 4 to 6 years of support and updates from Samsung, Google and Apple for the same price? If Motorola is going to play in the big boy arena and ask their customers to fork out big bucks, they'll need to step up and back their product like the big boys.
If you plan on keeping your phone 4 years,I would agree. But if you looking for the next hotness. 2 years is more then enough, especially how fast tech is moving.
Nope you aren't getting 6 years of updates from Samsung , where did you get that from !?? đ€Ł
@@maoinc13 I stated 4 to 6 years from Samsung, Google and Apple - you get 4 years from Samsung and 6 years from Apple which is exactly what I said. I'm not trying to be a smarty pants but please read exactly what someone says being making a smarty pants comment đ€Ł
A $1000 for Moto Edge+ ?? Woah! Moto is looting you guys. The same Moto named slightly different Edge 30 pro here in India sells at $566 with card discounts & the actual price they sell without discounts stands at just $630!!.
Why are they selling it for $1000 in the US ?? đČ
@@krishnachaitanya8590 now it's $799 here in the US. From their site.
Got this phone for $400 after trading in my old Motorola Z4 play . Definitely worth it!
Where did you trade in
I had recently bought the Moto one fusion+ because of the pop up selfie camera. But it has crappy specs for a phone from 2019-2020. I was going to purchase the edge+ 2020 but the front camera bothered me and read about faulty screens from factory. So my brother told me about the One Plus 7t pro 5g McLaren Edition and I'm really happy with this phone.
On the Motorola site, the trade in for a One Fusion+ was about $40-60. Rip off from Motorola.
You should've waited. Now they're giving em away free đ
No, you didnât.
I got this phone. It's a beast. unless you just like having the newest thing ever year. This phone's screen looks the same as any new phone this year.
Especially since it's gonna be in a case.
How is the battery life?
I'll stick to my 4 Moto Edge plus 2020's. Dropped my 4th one a few months ago and busted the display. Just got a new digitizer today from Ali Express. Got the back of the phone off. That's it so far. The original is so much better. I have 2 Gray's (although they're really blue) and 2 of the sangrias.
$200 through boost with no trade currently
Mine with the 68 watt charger can charge from 15 to 100 in 28 min , Amazing...
Where u get the 68watt charger at? How much are they? I want one! Thats hella fast charge time!
Your review of the phone and your criticisms have no real-world application or value. In the real world, nobody is comparing screen pixel density or brightness; also, It is a phone - not a Canon R5 camera or a blazing fast Apple laptop computer. The average person just wants decent looking photos and videos out of their phone camera, which this phone offers and, in many cases, - surpasses expectations. The price of the phone is also $499.00, and for that price, it is worth it over the stupidly expensive IPhone 13 or Samsung S22 to which you compared it. I think reviews have become ridiculously stupid and tend to influence people to spend their hard-earned money for features they will hardly ever use!
I agree with you! This is a fantastic phone and I got it for $499.00.
I think reviews are more geared toward enthusiasts more then the average user who just wants a new cool and fast phone. But i totally understand your point of view tho
@@Pwilly1984 even for many enthusiasts this review is very positive. Not all enthusiasts cars about the camera which was literally the only flaw in this review

Does song information display in your infotainment system while playing Spotify?
The colors on the photos are bugging me a good bit - everything comes out with a "colder" tint than im used to (on my previous Motorola Zoom and Xperia phones). I can throw the Natural Light filter on and things look better, but still not quite accurate. Anyone else notice this?
Got it for $599 with trade in, it's a great phone.
Does it work with ATT 5G?
Saw these used on eBay for ~$300. For a phone barely half a year old, that's a deal. Brand new from Verizon they're ~$900
There is a reason for the steep depreciation
@@classybluev1139 why?
@@crimsoncarp6877 All of the slick marketing by Apple and Samsung. The Motorola phones are essentially the same. They use the same components that the 2 big boys use in their phones. The only difference is that Motorola is slightly behind in camera tech. To me, the difference in camera is not worth $500 extra that a Samsung or iPhone will cost.
All I buy is Motorola loved my first gen edge+ but I'm kinda wondering why it had 108mp and this one doesn't not fully a deal breaker but seems like a downgrade from the first edge

I just got this phone to replace my older edge+. A few things I don't like already but I am hopeful those can be addressed through software updates.
Which things do you not like at this point?
@@quintincoetzee so far I'm disappointed with the camera performance. No telephoto lens like the previous model. Battery life also doesn't seem to be as good but that could just be me.
You guys should revise your performance testing, other reviwers have said this phone can get hot duing heavy use. If the apps you guys use are not intesive enough then the info you are giving to me as a consumer is not very useful. It's important to know the worst case scenario
How are you gonna make moto g8 power have dual speakers with Dolby Atmos cost 5 timed less and you have a single mono speaker on your so-called flagship
I bought this phone for under $200 and I am very happy with it. Coming from my broken Samsung S20 FE, this phone is snappier with 8GB of RAM, and also 512GB storage is very nice. The OLED screen looks amazing, and at 144Hz it looks better and feels better than my S20. The camera is more than fine for my needs, although it is not top of the line. And now that the 2023 model is out, you can get this $1000 for under $200?! It's a no brainer! I got the last one at my local Boost Mobile store, and the employee said he wanted it lol. Yeah maybe it's not a $1000 phone but it's a super value at around the $200 price point.
Only thing sucks I can't hook up to my big stereo no headphones jack on it

Sales person talked me into a Samsung S22 when it was time for an upgrade. I absolutely hated it!! Gave it to my 11 year old and added a line just so i could get this specific Moto Edge+. I'm amazed at people who hate on Motorola. I'll never again let someone talk me into a Samsung or Apple. This is a great phone.
Got mine for 499 and it is a great phone for that price
A lot of what a phone can offer is supported after purchase. My Samsung phone has a ton of value if I trade it in at a later time. In addition, there is a ton of third party stuff available for me if I want to get cases or screen protectors etc. This has to be significantly lower price than a Samsung for me as a consumer to even consider it.
Just bought this phone today from Verizon via a promotion that got me $800 off the $950 price tag on it. So $150 makes this phone definitely worth it for me and my needs đ
It's at Boost Mobile for only $149 today. But you already got it, so...
I am looking to replace my 2020 Moto Edge 5G. Now that the 2022 Edge+ is selling for $499.99, it almost seems like a no-brainer! I hate that they did away with the SD card slot, but., the 512 GB internal storage should do well enough! I am also not thrilled that so many phone manufacturers are doing away with the 3.5 mm jack! But, I guess with the USB-C charging/3.5 mm adapter, I can make do!
How do you like it? Coming from the 2020 edge plus as well, this new one should be here early this week. Would you buy again?
@@georgesrisomsak9650 About 3 months in, and I am reasonably satisfied. I'm not a gamer, or a content creator, and it has done everything I've wanted it to do! Only complaint is I've noticed a minor glitch in the interface at random intervals (most common, the pull down notifications/menu won't pull down). A reboot solves it every time so far. As stated, it is very random, and, so far, it hasn't been worth filing a claim (I bought the "Motocare" plan; glad I did, I had to replace the 2020 Edge once for a shattered screen).
Would I buy it again? Given the available alternatives, and the respective price points, absolutely, 100%!

You are literally just judging the Motorola Edge Plus just because it isn't a Apple and Samsung. So, if I want a flagship phone, I will always go with Apple or a Samsung flagship. Motorola simply isnât producing any product worth that kind of money. @@grabacr1251 yea Motorola doesn't care for their customers. They should only sell 5 different types of phones and dedicate updates to them instead of making 20 different phones with no updates. I really like the One Fusion Plus with the pop up camera but the specs were just awful. Maybe they need new staff.
Motorola is a money pit. They don't even update their phone software and some are lucky to even get security updates every 2 months. Disappointing from Motorola.
Portland, JAMAICA in The Building !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You paid one thousand dollars for yours?! Whew! No wonder you're complaining about every little thing. I like your reviews, but I own this phone and it is an amazing phone. I really can't relate to most of what you said.

it's trash bro, if it cost 400$ then maybe it's ok
It's a bang for buck in my country. It's available for almost 600$
Of course it's trash
@@Cubano2031 đ facts lol
It's only got Gorilla Glass 3 on the front the older one had Gorilla Glass 5 Gorilla Glass 3 is from 2013 cheap skates the most important part of a phone is this display and they're cheaping out on protection their cameras are pure trash the only thing I like about Motorola phones are the gestures I gave them a try it's back to defunct LG and the Beautiful V60 which slays this phone
Exc review.however, the money moto is asking and u will get 1 update? Hard pass
let's face it, iPhone has pretty much always had the best cameras. that's about the only thing I like about them.
Can you seriously pick someone else to review these phones omg.
Straight up lies about the phone staying cool lmao. Such blatant lies
actually motorola doesnt have a good night camera. try taking a picture of the downtown skyline at night. all you will see is lights no skyscrapers. that is with night mode activated. decent day camera but not night mode. not even the OnePlus Nord N20 takes good night photos.
i hate this ugly 2018 model display
