- A D.C. family expected a loved one to be released this month after serving 12 years in prison for armed carjacking. Instead, Robert Jeter is dead, and his family is fighting for answers on what led to his death while in federal custody last fall. Investigative Reporter Tracee Wilkins picked up the story.

Someone in prison killed him and they are now trying to cover it up... they need answers.
That's horrible. I pray they get some answers.
This is disgusting . I have a friend , her son was in prison , and died , they kept telling his mother that he may have died from this or that . God knows what really happened to these young men , and they will pay.
It's clear he was murdered, especially with blunt force trauma to the cranium and a slit liver ,he was beaten bad ny some one or group of folks. 🤔
We don’t have a Justice System, we have a Retribution System that only causes greater harm across the board without rehabilitation or even restitution for victims.
The system we have does not work. It does greater harm. Yet nobody is willing to seriously consider any of the systems around the world that are actually effective at lessening the crime that occurs.
It’s infuriating and heartbreaking.
It is not intended to work. It is meant to incarcerate, predominantly the Black demographic, in order for the current hegemony to sustain its position.
There is no truth within the so called system of justice and therefore it cannot be called justice. Tye laws of man is simply based on revenge!

It shouldn't take a long time to find out what happened to a person who passed away. Family needs answers. Something happened to him and seems like maybe a cover-up.

They could of shipped him to a correctional institution in Maryland.
DC is federal, totally different system...
Maryland has one federal prison. Fci in Cumberland,it's maximum security tho.
I think one of the worst things to deal with for the family is that your son is being shipped all the way to California and you lived in DC.
I mean not to have that support and see your family because the trip is so long and so costly is another blow to the inmate in the family.. I've never been to prison but I watch a lot of things in DC inmates come up a lot about a lot of different prisons and most of them are in federal because of the situation in DC..
I do know this if you go there and you make it home, then you lived a trauma that most people will never even phantom.
. Just had my cousin come home live with us in November now he's dead in March 25 years come home and died of pneumonia..
But there's so many terrible things and no disclosure when it comes to prisons and that's what they need to change just the same as police officers people need to be held accountable..

He was obviously bullied probably the whole time he was at victorville prison and it's so tragic he didn't get the chance to come home because of a jealous coward so very sad.

Prisoners are being murdered and raped and dying of drug.
Why in the living hell should an inmate die of an overdose? Inmates can't bring drugs into the prison system.
The family needs to have a second autopsy done.

Unfortunately he put himself there and its full of real killers . I know alot of these guys once they are forced to get sober and have a clear mind they are regular people. Get out come home change your life . Better yet don't go. Wish you had made it brother. Alot of times a lifer will kill someone going home just for talking about it. They usually move inmates when they are having problems with other inmates.
They better bring charges against the inmates or inmate or correctional officer that assault and killed him.
They won't give you answers until their story is straight on their end.
Family deserve to know. He was doing his time and did not deserve a fate like this.

Probably safer to stay out of jail and not commit crime if even the prisons are not a safe place to be.
But it boils down to racism and sentencing. There are worse criminals that are getting WAY less time because of their skin color. So, someone is going to fill that slot in that prison and black people are it -> no matter the crime.

That is easier said than done when you DON'T have the necessary tools in place to raise two children and one with a learning disability who is being teased and bullied and NO one stepped up to help him and address this issue.
Boys need their dads in their lives and that goes for ALL boys or some male, positive role model to guide him into the person he should be to fit into decent society anywhere in the world.
Just saying, not to commit crimes is easier said than done in most cases not some cases.
To have him murdered on the day of his release is very suspicious and the FBI should look into this prison but with many being privitized and having ties to the people in power who are running and operating the prisons, this investigation won't go anywhere because it'll implicate someone known higher up the chain.
His life is expendable to them. He, they and them don't matter.
Notice how this doesn't and wouldn't happen to someone that looks like or even thinks like the people that arrested him.
They're going to settle out of court in a few years after they cover and redact a few things from the written investigation; no one will be charged, questioned and definitely not arrested.
After that they'll be undercompensated at best and this will all go away shortly thereafter.
This is a shame.
My condolences for your relative but why not get help for his Learning and behavioral health? They had both classes when I was jr. High and High school; also Vocational things after schooling. Again, my condolences but sounds like he was failed from my start.

This tells me he was black and didn't have the complection for protection. TJ Wiggins was a convicted felon with over 300 felonies, but still roaming the streets before committing a Triple murder. He should've been locked up, but he had the complection for protection. That's how the system works.

To leave a FCi in this Gilmer WV, he would have had to have some disciplinary problems in order to be sent up a level in Custody to USP Victerville CA I for sure can say over crowding at Gilmer wasn't the case why because I did time at Gilmer they have a whole unit there that's empty. The staff at Gilmer are very Trump like to put it mildly shipping him to the Ville was a sentence within itself given its deft rate...
He has learning disabilities and was probably bullied in that jail. He could have been defending himself and wound up being the one that was punished. It is so terrible.
