As someone who JUST started the CRPG version of Kingmaker two days ago thanks to all the OGL stuff getting me interested, I have to say it’s feels weirdly nostalgic to see all the NPCs in an actual ttrpg setting for some reason. Anyways, good session! Both this and the CRPG can help give me the general vibe I want to go for when I eventually run Kingmaker for my friends!
Thank you for uploading a session of how most people ACTUALLY play TTRPGs. I am seeing if I want to switch over from 5e to pathfinder 2e. I am a dm with a medium amount of experience in dnd and i remember being very nervous as a new dm in 5e because of all the high end produced shows. I am not a voice actor so I cant act out 15 different characters in a scene or find their "voice" (like how amiri is rough and tumble while valerie is polite). In fact i dont think voice actors could do that either. not for 15 wildly different characters. You dont have to be an actor, you just have to portray the characters and give information. you can describe how amiri is rough and valerie is polite, like you did. Just like a combat, you dont need to know actual medieval fighting styles to describe how the fight is going. anyway its nice to see a normal game. It makes the game feel more approachable. I appreciate you putting it on your channel, running the game and the players for being vulnerable and showing themself to the online world. sincerly... -A new pf2e convert (thanks to you! Just waiting till the damn beginner box is back in stock! lol)
I am currently running this on Fantasy Grounds but would love if you had the time to show me how you set this up on Foundry VTT. It looks so nice will defiantly continue to watch. I wish I had more thumbs up to give.
I manually screenshotted the maps from the "Interactive Maps" PDF and the character art from the internet. As to the bells and whistles in my Foundry - I cover them in my 2 Foundry videos! (Addition to those are my modules Automated Animations, JB2A, and PF2e Animations)

Having special rules to make playing a dragon more reasonable... I love it so much! I feel like there have been a few black dragon fighters in your games, I wonder why there haven't been other colors/classes
The encounters are VERY different in the CRPG version. Many more mobs. Plus they're in 1st Edition. Pretty safe to say the monsters aren't "spoiled." The story? Kind of is. But one player only knows up to 4th level or so, and the others are more ignorant of the CRPG. He will behave... and metagaming there is easily catchable! ;)
@@TheRulesLawyerRPG Exactly I am already enjoying the differences in the versions of which I can already see many. Then you add in the more free form nature of a actual table of players with a excellent dm. I liked the story quite a bit so I am keeping my mouth shut on it for those who have not played it.
Getting ready to GM this now. Waiting for the companion guide to come in but I think it’s only really needed after the opening part. Watching this will help I hope.
Love to see it! I'm about to run my own game of Kingmaker in Foundry VTT as well actually so super excited to see this. Did you have any unique challenges setting up in Foundry, any tips for getting actors and maps set up for such a sandbox/open game?
I'm very much early in the prep so not much to say at this time... The PDF comes with an "Interactive Maps" file, and I found the manor map very frustrating to put in the VTT as it didn't have perfect squares. Foundry will be launching a premium module that I will definitely be getting. (Probably will look pricey at first glance, but KM is such a HUGE module that it will be a big timesaver)
Just tweeted about your campaign, hopefully we can drum you up a good sized audience. Also I enjoyed the 'Tears of Asmodeus', knowing that the Lord of Nine Hells is an EMO is kind of cool 🤣

I just bought the Physical Pathfinder 2e Kingmaker book and was looking through the maps. When I was looking through Chapter 11, I noticed the map on pg.492 was missing the D4 label. I can guess that D4 should be North from D2 based on pg.497. But that still makes me question whether this is a mistake or misprint? Any thought?
You mention a second channel for future uploads, but it's not linked in the video or on your main channel. I'm even a discord member and you don't have any channels there with links directing people to your content.

@@ColdNapalm42 Yes it is. PDF to foundry is not being continued and till the adventure comes out to buy on foundry it will take quite a long time, considering how big it is, it being sandbox AND having to convert the entire kingdom subsystem nicely into foundry.

Redfern's audio is really bad. Everyone is really clear but he sounds like he's talking in a barrel, inside a lavatory. He also mumbles quite badly which makes him even harder to understand. I mean, Sylvanus is using a laptop mike yet sounds 20 times better. Can Red invest in a better audio setup?
Great stuff but you need to work on the pacing. You told one hour of story in three hours. Just needs more focus. Too many times a player asked a question of the other players and there was nothing but silence. Too many times players got to their turn with no idea what to do. Shows they’re not paying attention when it’s not their turn, which makes for poor gameplay.
This is a private game that just happens to be on my channels, as people wanted to have the recordings to be able to go back to later. So my first obligation is to the players and not to the audience. They are learning and discovering who their characters are and what their abilities are, all while under the stress of livestreaming. These aren't professional actors/streamers. This is series is representative of what actual players are like who are getting to know each other and their characters. And it's representative of what's in the PF2 Kingmaker module. "You told one hour of story in three hours." I'm running the module; I'm not producing a TV show.
I think we all had fun during the session. We are figuring out not only the mechanics of our characters, but also who our characters are. We are also feeling out who our fellow players are. The sessions are streamed so others can watch and enjoy, but the primary goal is Ronald and my fellow players' enjoyment. That is what we are paying for.
When was the last time you sat around a brand new game/system with brand new players and decided everything had to be perfect? Even "real world sports" don't do this, even NFL players or NBA players trading teams don't -immediately- get in and everything works exactly as it was supposed to in the first practice / game. It takes time, and time isn't "hey hurry up, there's some dude on CZcams that really wants us to go faster so can you stop thinking and start doing? Thanks!"
One of these days, ronald will actually get the sound levels equal accross the board, and the world will end.

Dude do not be the "must go faster" guy. If the players are learning a new system they will naturally be slower. Let them enjoy it at their own pace.
