Dr. Phil actually conveyed a very legitimate concern regarding Donald Trump. Trump is an excellent showman, but diplomacy is not showmanship.

I think diplomacy gets us into 90% of the problems we're into today.
Diplomacy means not calling out the bullshit for what it is. It means everybody sits there and goes along with the program and is too scared to challenge the status-quo.
I know it means other things also, but often it is mistaken for political correctness. And I think that is part of the confusion that they are making during this conversation. Diplomacy doesn't mean bending over and taking it up the ass all the time. It doesn't mean allowing 10's of millions of people to invade your country and then call anybody who speaks bluntly about it a racist. Diplomacy means working out your problems through communication and negotiation. But, if our president's communication is rough and his negotiational powers are tough, too bad for those looking to get the best of us.

If your goal is to get what you can from others and survive long enough to see the fruits of your labor, engage in diplomacy.

For the most part, the government is diplomatic when it helps them achieve their goals better, but when diplomacy is ineffective, then force is used. Often times diplomacy is a soft public mask that covers a very brutal interior.

They want to look all gentle and caring while they take millions from special interests and send the jobs out of the country, allow millions in to take the jobs that are left, and start wars so they can expand their sphere of influence for corporate and banking interests. I was looking online at images of the border, there are some parts that are frankly, just cliffs - would the wall extend over to these parts ? Also there are parts which are quite mountainous, do you think they would be able to build a wall there ? How high do you estimate it would be ?
If you take a look at the peace walls in Northern Ireland, they are pretty good at preventing people from throwing petrol bombs etc, and they also hinder extremists in the Protestant communities from attacking the Catholic/Nationalist/Republicans, and vice versa.

I am not a person who would just say "that's impossible", when someone proposes something. I would like to find out more. Do you believe it is possible ?
