  • Paw Patrol is a much beloved children's show about puppies utilizing search and rescue gear and saving that day! But not all of it's members are created equally, MatPat has been saying that one of Paw Patrol's member, Zuma, is rather useless, and people have apparently become rather anger over that remark. But MatPat being who he is, has to prove himself, and he appears to have brought proof! Let's see what he has!!

The superhero stuff started in late 2018 with the double length hour-long special, Mighty Pups. In mid 2019 with S6, they made eps based off it prefixed Mighty Pups Super Paws, later Mighty Pups Charged Up in early 2020 with S7. With the 2nd theatrical movie also utilizing a meteor, a new batch of eps based after *it* were made in Nov 2023 (though some of their powers got a little swapped).

It's not unusual for a long-running kids' show to use desperate measures (i.e., something weird and out of left field) to keep the series going. For a prime example from my own childhood, there was the seasons where the Smurfs travelled in time.

Mer pups were actually introduced fairly early on, but a lot more sporadic, the first 3 being in mid S2 (March '15), late S3 (fall '16) and the end of S4 (early '18). But let's just say as things went on for them up to now, it got a lot weirder and probably inconsistent.

Ah yes, Chase and Skye's dynamic - even if Spin Master denied it being a crush, the way he'd get concerned for her and try to retain a stern composure right after was pretty amusing. We've Save the Sea Turtles where he covers his eyes as she did a rescue, and when she succeeded he said "you did it, I was so worried! I mean, uh, excellent flying." There was Save the Circus where they reunite a baby elephant with its mother and also found it sweet before trying to maintain composure, Save a Pool Day where Rocky catches him in Skye's bathing cap... kinda weird,
Save the Camping Trip when before they were assigned, Chase goes "is Skye okay? I mean, are they okay?" And after Skye rode Chase's winch down a crevasse and came back up, Chase exclaimed "she's okay!" And tries to deny being worried and said he was glad she rescued successfully which she found very sweet.
In Season 2, there's a couple points where he jumps in Ryder's arms (followed by some funny awkwardness), he doubted that mer pups existed, but upon seeing Skye with a fish tail, he fainted, and of course Save Skye where she went missing in a snowstorm and Chase's first reaction was "we need to call someone!" He also hoped he'd be picked for the rescue (and was).

MattPat ruined one of my favorite kids shows.
I'm 26 years old but you're never too old to watch this masterpiece. MattPat is an idiot.
Allow me to give my two cents: Ryder puts the safety of his team and the people of Adventure Bay ahead of everything else and would never put his team in danger (at least not deliberately). If he was the 'villain' that MattPat claims he is, I could think of nearly a dozen scenarios on how that would be true, but in the interest of time, I will try to name no more than three.
The first one, and likely the most plausible, is that Ryder uses Mighty Marshall as a scapegoat to commit arson. And why stop there? He could have Chase rob people, Skye drop people in the water, and Rubble cause millions of dollars worth of property damage.
The second thing he could do is 'stage' the countless emergencies his team responds to. While there is no evidence to disprove this theory, there is also nothing definitive to prove it.
And the third thing that would make him a villain is to simply refuse to help the people of Adventure Bay.
But he does none of these things. He has shown time and time again that he truly does care for the people of Adventure Bay, Adventure City, and his team.
His motto "No job is too big, no pup is too small" is definitely an excellent motivational speech. This show portrays a strong message, making a team of eight canines, who are seemingly incapable of performing common tasks feel a sense of empowerment by working together as a team and overcoming any obstacle. Some people get the impression that the show encourages pet owners to put their dogs lives in danger, but that is surely not the case. There are some things dogs can do bettter than us, and this show highlights it.
For example, their occupations. Each member of the PAW Patrol has a talent that few others possess. Chase, for example, is an excellent detective and very athletic. Marshall may be accident prone, but is still very brave. Skye is the only member of the PAW Patrol qualified to fly a helicopter. Rocky never wastes things that he can find a use for later. Rubble is very strong and even has his own secret move called the Rocket Kick, which is what helped the PAW Patrol win their soccer match against Foggy Bottom.
Zuma, who is an excellent swimmer, something that Rocky frequently struggles with on account of being aquaphobic.
Tracker, who has an excellent sense of direction, which makes him an ideal guide when the PAW Patrol are visiting Carlos in the jungle.
And Everest, who knows the mountain like the back of her paw.
Each member of the PAW Patrol is heavily undervalued because each of them possesses a rare talent not commonly found in dogs, but has proven time and time again that there are things dogs can do better than most humans.

Yeah I'd guess that the cop looking pup would have all of the coolest versatile (arguably borderline militaristic with the spy gear) since his capitalist boss is clearly investing most of the money into the cop one, like America. And of course they're getting replaced by "AI". Not like the pups are probably getting paid since there's no laws about dog rights or anything. :P They could just get jobs in other places. XD Well played!
