    Although I'm a labour man, I do think thatcher seemed to have it all and the Falklands war was her trump card. Thatcher was and is a much better pm than cameron and much more mature as well.

    Amazing leader 🙏🙏 people may not have agreed with Thatcher’s policies but my goodness, are we in need of her astute and steadfast leadership of the nation at this time with all of the Tory sleaze and incompetent s**t show going on. She never let herself down - always supreme and operating from a strong moral base with enormous integrity which this country needs right now more than ever. Thatcher would be turning in her grave if she knew what the state of the UK economy was in now. 🙏

    History will record her and Attlee as our Greatest Prime Ministers. But Thatcher was never really mindful about the poor, disabled and disadvantaged in our society. I think we have to accept that there will always be people who will always be reliant on Welfare.

      This is always the socialists' trump card, an expression in one of the other comments here. It goes to the heart of the debate really.

    • @growinsane9123
      @growinsane9123 Před 2 lety

      If we accept that there will always be people, no matter how much you help them, who will conitinue even with help to make poor choices, then it becomes a question of what you do about it
      I don't think we are talking about a very large percentage of the populaton but for example in majority of cases of persistant homelessness they are people who were homed but their behaviour didn't meet a standard to stay in accomodation so they are put back on the street, many having gone through this cycle over and over. We expect too much to think there are solutions to everything and every case. Some on the left believe you give more generously and you get grattiude and improvement and the right believe it comes by more strongly connecting reward with responsibility. The solution is probably in between and we are left to debate where that inebetween sits.

    "You have in fact to watch that you don't spend too much." That's what more recent governments have got wrong, especially Blair's, Brown's and above all Johnson's. It's easy to borrow more and spend in order to gain popularity, but it's disastrous for the economy and the country.

      Mrs Thatcher came from the working classes. She liberated them from the over bearing and hugely limiting State by allowing people to choose their direction.
