Nothing wrong with that. It does seem like he’s aged well. Especially for 55 years old.
He seems like such a great guy too. His appearance on the Kingcast also makes him seem very likable
He is the coolest guy! He deserves more recognition as an actor, director, and producer.

would be great to see some Steve Vai in there too i hope, straight out of berklee he auditioned for zappa's band and got the part as keyboardist/guitarist but more importantly as the music transcriber, it was hard even for a berklee grad like steve vai because of all the odd things zappa would experiment with music, zappa was prog rock before prog rock even became a thing..
and also steve vai already worked with alex winter before... in the bill and ted movies, the sound behind the air guitar was steve vai's noodling... and the epic guitar intro for the final song in the battle of the bands leading up to kiss's song 'god gave rock and roll to you' was done by steve vai

@@morbidmanmusic No he's not. If he was he wouldn't have been working at the jimmy Kimmel show for so long. Even though i knew that, many people had no idea. He does have a bit of a cult following fans like me but he ain't big.
he had a bad past as a child actor and mostly bad experiences in hollywood. I don't think he desires to be more famous. Its not a talent or popularity issue i dont think.
I’m so happy that Alex has found such success behind the camera but hope we see more of him in front of the camera. Love this guy, a prince among men

That was a big disappointment. At least as a Kickstartr contributor, I was able to see bits and pieces of stuff that was unearthed from the vault.

The Zappa movie confirms everything I write about in my memoir of my time living and working for Frank in his log cabin in 1968 to 1971. The only book to detail his and Gail's personal life. 'Freak Out! My Life with Frank Zappa' by Pauline Butcher.

My Zappa story: Back around 74 Zappa was the headliner of an all-day festival in Atlanta's baseball stadium. Sitting up high in the top deck we were playing Triva between acts. No one knew the name of Tom Mix's horse. A few hours later the Mothers are tuning up on stage. Zappa goes up to his mic, announces - Tom Mix's horse was Tony. We fell out of our seats, our game had traveled through the stadium and Zappa of course knew the answer!

Man, I have been waiting for years for this Zappa doc. Caught wind of the Kickstarter when it first got going. Kept thinking, this is the year... now, finally arriving. Good interview too. Winter has some excellent documentaries out there including one about good ole Napster.

WOW, How amazing it would be to have access to the Zappa Vault! I can't even imagine how many insanely wonderful treasures have been hiding in there. FZ was pretty much a workaholic and constantly creating music, so it must be a crazy amount of stuff. That is an absolute dream come true...

The movie Freaked is damn funny,Keanu was in that as well. The Zappa documentary was one of, maybe the best one I've seen on him.
Totally one of the greatest composers AND one of the greatest guitar players of the 20th century.
He also made Freaked from 1993

Hahaha.... yep. I often think about Zappa's social commentary nowadays- especially on the dumbass Republicans we've had in office so far this century. And we used to think Bush Junior was bad! Trump would have Frank Zappa rolling in his grave. I don't think even he could have imagined America would reach that level of stupidity. I always respected Frank's fierceness while fighting against stupidity and his outlook on the world... and that's completely apart from how amazing he was as a musician!

More Zappa talk would've been nice like asking if he got to talk with all the Zappa children for the film: Dweezil, Moon Unit, Ahmet and Diva.
Ahmet introduced the idea, and Alex, to Gail. She gave exclusive access to The Vault. I don't believe Moon and Dweezil had much to do with it as Ahmet is the king of the family trust and the family does not get along. He's a Dickhead in my opinion. Dweezil once had access to all his dad's music when he started Zappa Plays Zappa, but he had to pay his mother. Also had to pay her a cut of his merch sales. Ahmet is King now after Gail died. Dweezils music is no longer on his dad's website. The only Zappa left with any musical talent, and he got hosed by his own family.

so great to see Alex doing well. As someone who thinks Frank Zappas music was mostly annoying you still have to respect him if you know anything about the man. I encourage anyone to look into his interviews because he's quite astute to social issues and is a rare mind. Also just because i find his music annoying does not mean i dont respect a good chunk of it. The musicians he worked with (and Zappa) were TOP NOTCH !!

Watched the doc, and it was well done. A good portrayal of the passion and genius of the man, to be sure. I AM wondering: why were the two most seminal albums (arguably) completely overlooked? Everyone of a certain age remembers Apostrophe and Overnight Sensation as the quintessential Zappa stuff! Completely omitted from the film, but they spend fifteen minutes on the Kronos Quartet?. Kinda disappointed...
