This was an easy but fun boss, and I don’t have a problem with that. The design is amazing, the arena you fight it in is great, and this theme is just perfection. I love it.

3:32 gave me instant chills and goosebumps. hearing the rito village theme but more epic was so sick

So epic...
Dragon roost island/molgara from windwaker originally . That’s where the rito village theme comes from

@@microwavedpizza this. I wish this fight was longer
@@fis001rthat's why I choose to not do my best in this fight
Basically it’s like Link is fighting for Rito Village and even Revali, his biggest rival. While Revali is obviously not seen, he’s probably watching from above having to rely on a small Rito child who seemed to improve Revali’s ability and his biggest rival that he once hated to save Rito Village
hearing the dragon roost isle theme so triumphantly roar when you're joined by a rito child who also inherits the powers of a wind sage, just like Medli in wind waker... I teared up. Hell, even the boss itself *looks* like Gohma in dragon roost cavern!!
I kinda think it looks like a Gohma x Molgera hybrid. To stick with Molgera being a Wind Temple Boss too from the same game you mentioned.
Just a correction that Medli was the Earth Sage and Makar was the Wind Sage (still a weird decision on Nintendo's part, though). But yeah, all of the callbacks to Wind Waker definitely put a smile on my face while doing this section of the game. 😸
@@talesofragnarok You're right! I misremembered. Long time since I played wind waker :')
its name is also COLgera like MOLgera in ww, both are even worms
I am so sorry for being nitpicking but Medli was NOT the Sage of wind and instead the Sage of earth. Makar the korok was the Sage of wind and is a reancarnation (probably since fado was kokiri and a child) of the wind Sage Fado. But either way, both sages are proud of that kiddo
3:32 is the part that made me stop in my tracks and just be like “holy crap this music is amazing”, it just sounds so heroic, and Colgera’s design too is just so fricking cool

Easier than Windblight? Yes.
More memorable fight? Miles ahead.
While I love challenge, sometimes the grand scale, music and setting for such a battle leave a better, more positive impact, and this was so much more enjoyable than BotW's wind temple boss. So far my favorite boss in the game (only fought 2 though)
Yeah this is supposed to be the first boss you do if you listen to the games direction , so they wanted to make it super epic to really get players invested on their first play through. Great game design
For me this boss was way harder than all 3 blights except thunderblight
I wish this fight was a more challenging. I didn't take a single damage both times I beat it. It felt like it wasn't even trying to attack me.
Zelda boss fights have always been easy. Twilight Princess especially had some super cool fights that were basically automatic wins.
I love the bosses in this game, they may be much easier than the blights but they have been so much more fun, the refights seem much harder though
This music to a boss fight brought nerdy tears to my eye. This boss fight was so good. I remember sitting in my living room, the lights off and the blinds drawn. This fight, whilst not too hard, was the most amazing thing I had ever experienced. The buildup of climbing, and then this majesty. Gah, I loved the Wind Temple.
Are people still calling it nerdy to like video games? That was such a 2005 kinda thing

Even though I’ve never played windwaker before 3:30 makes me nostalgic and I can’t explain why goosebumps every time
i would hazard a guess on account that it draws from dragon roost island, which the rito village theme also draws from, giving nostalgia towards the old days of BotW

Battle design wise, I’m way more into the blights than this.
@@brandoescalona4335 The best battle and temple for me. Reminds me a lot of a boss of Wind Waker and I love it
musically speaking, I noticed things
This is mostly an epic reprise of the Rito theme, which is in itself a reprisal of the Dragon Roost Isle theme from Wind Waker. Secondly, the chromatic movements with the violins give a chilling, uneasy feeling, while the trumpets and chorus counteract that with a feeling of heroism and bravery, like a whole nation has their hopes resting in one person (and in a way, Hyrule and the Rito do). Really great music, Nintendo strikes gold once again!
As a person with opinions I agree with this statement
The song also includes motifs from the Vah Medoh's battle theme. It's in the way the violin's constantly do that upwards arpeggio every bar.
@@every116 That’s an arpeggio? I thought it was a chromatic scale
@@Sentinel07 I've never been good at distinguishing between things like that by ear, so I looked it up and it's not chromatic or an arpeggio, in the original Vah Medoh attack theme that portion goes ABCD over and over.
@@every116 oh you meant that part
Yea that’s just four notes, I meant the huge sweeping scales at the beginning of the piece
The use of Molgera's motif... chef's kiss
I’m so happy that I was apparently one of the relatively small number of people that realized during my first attempt that you can dive through each ice plate. Most of the battle I used arrows, but just the fact that I realized it during phase 2 makes me so happy. The entire Rito quest line is one of the most memorable parts of the game for me
Lol my entire time at first fighting the boss I had no clue you could arrows until I saw pointcrow do it
I didn't even know you could damage Colgera any other way until I went online. The entire trip from Mount Hebra up to the Ark is littered with platforms with ice on them that you have to crash through to break, those platforms are also important puzzle pieces on the Ark itself, so when Colgera shot those spikes in the air revealing a cracked icy interior my first thought was "I have to crash through that" and never even thought about damaging him any other way. It also made me realize that there probably isn't any boss scaling like there was in BOTW, you can't have Colgera scale upwards if the way you have to defeat him is so scripted.
I never thought of using arrows, and then I did the whole fight diving into Colgera, so yeah, I literally defeated Colgera with my head.
i literally got chills and teared up at 3:32. sitting there on low hearts because i forgot to cook food beforehand, about to cry. awesome song, wind temple was my favourite in almost every way
For people who played BOTW and loved Revali's theme, 3:54 gives goosebumps.
dragon roost theme from windwaker ;)
It’s weird to me how Revali is never mentioned in TOTK. In BOTW he was a legendary hero of the Rito, and now he’s kinda forgotten? Mipha is mentioned by Sidon, Urbosa is mentioned by Riju, but Revali (and Daruk in a way) are kinda left behind and not talked about despite being the legendary Champions.
@@Sentinel07 they at least still have the platform in Rito Village called Revali's Landing, and the mountain carving of Daruk overlooking Goron City

3:32 This part remebered me about the music of HTTYD. Truly beautiful!
This theme is hands down one of the best in this game, im just waiting until we get an orchestra performance of this one day
I am unfortunately the type of person who (especially in boss fights) can't pay attention to the music while I'm trying to take in the fight, so most of it more often tends to fade into the background and I can't truly appreciate it until I listen to it by itself. However, when the Rito Village theme kicked in, I heard it loud and clear, so much so that I had to pause just to let myself process what I'd heard. It felt like the choir was reaching out to me at that moment, cheering me on in the most heroic way possible. What a masterpiece of a track. I truly hope that everyone gets a moment like that during this fight some day.

Two things about how god this is:
1. Molgera's theme (Wind Waker) is the basis for this song with bits of rito village

I know it’s technically just the Rito Village theme, but the Wind Waker lover in me had a heart attack at 3:30
Its amazing how this one song shows more respect for the history and lore of this series than the entire story of the game. Colgera, leitmotifs of Molgera, with Dragon Roost in the Wind Temple. Superb callbacks and homages.
There’s plenty of references throughout the story to other games. Just the mention of Rauru’s name put the biggest smile on my face. But yes I can agree that Zelda music being shared and referenced across the games is always incredible
@@NobleVagabond2552 References, sure. But actually connecting to the series in anything other than mild name references? Not really. There's no Triforce, the origins of the world are completely different, it even breaks its own ties to BotW because BotW references Nabooru as the namesake of Vah Naboris, therefore making OoT canon to BotW, but in TotK Ganondorfs actions are entirely different from OoT, and his motives entirely different from WW. Both of these Ganondorfs cannot exist at the same time, and Ganondorf doesn't exactly reincarnate himself, the curse reincarnates in various different forms, stringing them around like flesh puppets, fueling any dark desires already harbored within the person and bringing out the absolute worst of a person. TotK's story, as a standalone, is decent enough, but trying to insert it into Zelda lore and the timeline not only makes no sense with the rest of the timeline, it completely shears BotW off with it, or leaves BotW on and itself has nowhere to go.
@@macnamaryb7773 oh I completely understand, I think it’s weird that the divine beasts and the sheikah towers are completely gone, they coulda said the upheaval knocked the towers down - and then just had them in rumble in all their old spots. But in general Nintendo has never spent much time focusing on the continuity of the stories, all the timeline stuff started as fan theories. I personally just never cared to think about the story any more than Nintendo does. Aside from the Hero’s Shade in TP being child Link the hero of time from OoT and MM. That’s genuinely about the only real story connections across games I’ve ever cared about enough to commit to memory
@@macnamaryb7773 I do agree tho, I wish the triforce was mentioned, it’s obviously an integral part of the trio of link zelda and ganon and does help connect the games to a certain extent
@@macnamaryb7773 Ganondorf DOES reincarnate himself--it's been demonstrated to occur in Four Swords Adventures, which features an explicit Ganondorf reincarnation after his death in Twilight Princess. Multiple incarnations are also presumably capable of existing at the same time as long as one is in stasis, as we've seen the same occur with the sleeping Zelda from The Adventure of Link.
There are a number of ways for the past shown in Tears of the Kingdom to fit into the timeline. It could be a new Hyrule, founded centuries or millennia after the last game in the Downfall or Child timelines. Or Rauru could have founded Hyrule well before the events of Ocarina of Time, with his Ganondorf imprisoned beneath Hyrule while a new one was reborn to the Gerudo.
Can we easily explain everything? No, but we've never been able to. Hyrule Castle and the Temple of Time have frequently teleported around the map between games, various races pop in and out of existence, and so on.
I will battle this flying fiend in the depths whenever he spawns just so I can listen to this epic theme.

this is one of my favorite tracks in the game. the whole region had been my favorite in botw. i had fallen in love with the rito, and seeing my favorite area of the game devastated by the blizzard, it made me feel so powerful shattering colgera and restoring the beauty of this place i loved so much.

3:32 As a lifelong Zelda fan, I cannot begin to describe the depth of emotion I feel when I hear the Dragonroost Island leitmotif in this boss battle theme. The words "nostalgia" and "fan service" get thrown around a lot, but this sincerely felt like Nintendo saying "thank you" to everyone who played the last 20 years of Zelda games. This song is for the REAL fans; the fans who actually liked Wind Waker back in 2002 and were willing to give it a chance.

I don’t know what it is, but something about the Rito Village / Dragon Roost quote feels straight out of an old Western movie and I’m here for it. The instrumentation and big heroic sound is so great.
nintendo always goes so hard with their soundtracks
The amount of people who went through this fight using their bow instead of skydiving past his spikes and using your weapon to smash through his weak points makes me so sad, this was such an epic fight
I never thought to do that. That's really cool! I wanna try it now, lol
@@theraredevil3316 I never thought to pull my bow out and shoot him! I think a lot of the fun comes from 2 different people looking at the same problem and getting totally different answers… Game of the Year, baby!
@@CameoTC This game is chock full of those moments. I'm really impressed with how much they did with what is still very much the same game, just even more wild takes on how everyone's journey can be so, so different.
Weapon smash? Just dive lmao. You bust right through the weak spots through holding R for a dive bomb.
When it launched boulders I would stop paragliding and jump in the ice in its back, worked every time
When the rito village theme chimed into the theme i got chills down my spine
This theme omg the chills are so crazy ~
As a wind waker fan i approve of this song as a major homage to the game.
This hands-down has to be my new favorite Zelda boss theme, especially that FANTASTIC leitmotif of rito village theme. Man, does it gives me major goosebumps, and even also a “Ratatouille Ego moment” by transporting me back to Dragon Roost Island from Wind Waker…🥲
It’s a straight up BLATANT shoutout to old school Zelda fans. Totk is filled with stuff like that and the devs trying to tell us they haven’t forgotten us longtime diehards 🥲. It’s beautiful man…..
fighting colgera in the depths in pitch black for the challenge and winning. Now that was a fight to behold. I enjoyed that fight.
agreed. colgera is amazing, and the music is even better
Bringing in and referencing the iconic Molgera theme music from Wind Waker sent me to the moon. Such a great theme.
This theme almost made me cry when I first heard it. It is so beautiful.
From 3:22 its just absolutely heavenly. One of the best boss tracks ive heard in a while!
If you used a bow during this fight, you didn’t fight it properly
But i fought it efficiently.
It sounds nostalgic and fresh and epic all at the same time truly an amazing song BUT WHY CANT I FIND THE ORIGINAL ON SPOTIFY
Nintendo doesn't release their soundtracks digitally
@@mitchy2699 yeah I wish they did though 🥲
Top 5 Zelda song easily.
Zelda tears of the kingdom is the GOAT
That part in Colgera Battle Theme felt like if Wind Waker Link was smiling and giving me strenght to fight.
3:30 Felt like wind wakers link was right there with me fighting this thing, guiding me with the wind through tulin
3:32 it’s not even funny how nostalgic that part is
"3:26 Most Replayed" Oh I wonder wh-
*Wind Waker Intensifies*
This is amazing!
