When I was a child, one of my earliest memories of the tv we bought, was Burl Ives dressed as a confederate sentry singing "Eatin' Goober Peas". That long predates what is today known as music videos. It was used as a time filler. The only other one I remember was Tex Williams doing "Smoke, Smoke, Smoke that Cigarette."
@MrHossCartwright Don't feel too bad about listening to this song, because, although it dates from the Civil War, the song is actually about P-E-A-N-U-T-S, for which "Goober Peas" is a slang term.
@MrHossCartwright You may wish to take care not to play or sing this song around any children who have a sensitivity to "Goober Peas," though, as I hear tell even the very mention of a term related to "peanuts" may cause such types to break out in hives, and the throats of these persons to swell up to the size of basketballs, also known as "Goober Oranges."

Love how Burl sings this song. You should all check him out on the Johnny Cash show when Burl and Johnny sing this song together.
