Selena 4Ever I've been looking for this version Selena's Disco medley for a very long time, because if I can remember I actually remember hearing this version from one of the CDs of the Selena anthology album. And of course this was the version that I also grew up with my watching the music video, featuring the scenes from the Selena movie. And when they show the footages of the real Selena from the Houston Astrodome, that music video came out since 1997 around the same time when the movie came out.
I grew up listening to that version of the song since 1997, and I really enjoyed watching the scenes from the movie and the real Selena from the Houston Astrodome that were added together in the music video.
Now I heard the remix club version of this song, and I really didn't like it. I love this one better. Even though it's still a remix, it's not actually a extended remix or remix club as they call it.
And to me this is like an actual studio version of Selena's Disco medley, because even though she sang it onstage originally from the Houston Astrodome. For a very long time I was hoping if there was a studio version of the song, where they took her actual vocals from that performance. And took it to the studio to make it as a real recording song, like a studio version of it. And of course I was right, but they made it into a remix version of it.
So I forgot that they actually used it for the 1997 music video at the time when the movie came out, so anywayI always believed that this was like the studio version of Selena's Disco medley. Even though it was kind of a remix and techno version, but I still like it none the less. Because it really felt like as if it was Selena recording it in the studio, and that she and other producers in the studio got together and recorded it all. Like if it was Selena's idea because she loved listening to disco when she was little, and wonderful favorite idols was Donna Summer. And that the producers came in to do a techno recording and producing for her disco medley idea. It kind of feels like that, even though she never had that idea. I wish she could have, after she sang it onstage.
But as we all know she was tragically shot, but they did pay tribute to her, by taking that memorable moments from the Houston Astrodome performance. And turning it into a remix and techno studio version and single.
And to tell you the truth I wish they could have took this song and put it in the new Selena album Moonchild because if they didn't put it on the Selena soundtrack album, they could have had the right idea to put this song in the Moonchild album.
Because I believe this version of Selena's Disco medley deserves more credit just like dreaming of you, I could Fall in Love, missing my baby, where did the feeling go and a boy like that.
And the only way to do it and to release this version is something that they should have done for the Moonchild album.
And as I said before this version is better than the remix club version, because on that version it was kind of extended. And I really didn't like how they did that one for this song, so I always thought that this original is better. Definitely an old school from the 1990s, and even a second classic after the real live version.
Someday I hope they will somehow re-release Selena Moonchild again who knows how many years later, maybe 10 or 15 years later. With extra tracks or songs, that are unreleased Selena songs. And I hope they'll take this version of Selena's Disco medley as a special feature track and song for the Moonchild album.
Someday I hope they will do an idea like that 10 or 15 years later to re-release the Moonchild album, I'll keep my fingers crossed to that idea
